1 And Adam hearkened unto the voice of God, and called upon his sons to repent.

1 Y Adán escuchó la voz de Dios, y exhortó a sus hijos a que se arrepintieran.

2 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bare a son, and he called his name Seth. And Adam glorified the name of God; for he said: God hath appointed me another seed, instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

2 Y Adán conoció de nuevo a su esposa, la cual dio a luz un hijo, y él le dio el nombre de Set. Y Adán glorificó el nombre de Dios, porque dijo: Dios me ha designado otra descendencia en vez de Abel, a quien Caín mató.

3 And God revealed himself unto Seth, and he rebelled not, but offered an acceptable sacrifice, like unto his brother Abel. And to him also was born a son, and he called his name Enos.

3 Y Dios se reveló a Set, el cual no fue rebelde, sino que ofreció un sacrificio aceptable, como lo hizo su hermano Abel. Y también a él le nació un hijo, y lo llamó Enós.

4 And then began these men to call upon the name of the Lord, and the Lord blessed them;

4 Entonces empezaron estos hombres a invocar el nombre del Señor, y el Señor los bendijo;

5 And a book of remembrance was kept, in the which was recorded, in the language of Adam, for it was given unto as many as called upon God to write by the spirit of inspiration;

5 y se llevaba un libro de memorias, en el cual se escribía en el lenguaje de Adán, porque a cuantos invocaban a Dios les era concedido escribir por el espíritu de inspiración;

6 And by them their children were taught to read and write, having a language which was pure and undefiled.

6 y poseyendo un lenguaje puro y sin mezcla, enseñaban a sus hijos a leer y a escribir.

7 Now this same Priesthood, which was in the beginning, shall be in the end of the world also.

7 Ahora bien, este mismo Sacerdocio que existió en el principio, existirá también en el fin del mundo.

8 Now this prophecy Adam spake, as he was moved upon by the Holy Ghost, and a genealogy was kept of the children of God. And this was the book of the generations of Adam, saying: In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

8 Adán declaró esta profecía al ser inspirado por el Espíritu Santo, y se guardaba una genealogía de los hijos de Dios. Y este era el libro de las generaciones de Adán, y decía: El día en que Dios creó al hombre, a semejanza de Dios lo hizo;

9 In the image of his own body, male and female, created he them, and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created and became living souls in the land upon the footstool of God.

9 a imagen de su propio cuerpo, varón y hembra los creó, y los bendijo y les dio a ellos el nombre de Adán, el día en que fueron creados, y llegaron a ser almas vivientes en la tierra sobre el estrado de los pies de Dios.

10 And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his own image, and called his name Seth.

10 Y Adán vivió ciento treinta años, y engendró un hijo a su propia imagen y semejanza, y llamó su nombre Set.

11 And the days of Adam, after he had begotten Seth, were eight hundred years, and he begat many sons and daughters;

11 Y fueron los días de Adán, después de engendrar a Set, ochocientos años, y engendró muchos hijos e hijas;

12 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

12 y fueron todos los días que Adán vivió novecientos treinta años, y murió.

13 Seth lived one hundred and five years, and begat Enos, and prophesied in all his days, and taught his son Enos in the ways of God; wherefore Enos prophesied also.

13 Set vivió ciento cinco años, y engendró a Enós, y profetizó todos sus días y enseñó a su hijo Enós conforme a las vías de Dios; por tanto, Enós también profetizó.

14 And Seth lived, after he begat Enos, eight hundred and seven years, and begat many sons and daughters.

14 Y vivió Set, después de engendrar a Enós, ochocientos siete años, y engendró muchos hijos e hijas.

15 And the children of men were numerous upon all the face of the land. And in those days Satan had great dominion among men, and raged in their hearts; and from thenceforth came wars and bloodshed; and a man's hand was against his own brother, in administering death, because of secret works, seeking for power.

15 Y los hijos de los hombres eran muchos sobre toda la faz de la tierra. Y en aquellos días Satanás ejercía gran dominio entre los hombres y agitaba sus corazones a la ira; y desde entonces hubo guerras y derramamiento de sangre; y buscando poder, el hombre levantaba su mano en contra de su propio hermano para darle la muerte, por causa de las obras secretas.

16 All the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

16 Y todos los días de Set fueron novecientos doce años, y murió.

17 And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan. And Enos and the residue of the people of God came out from the land, which was called Shulon, and dwelt in a land of promise, which he called after his own son, whom he had named Cainan.

17 Enós vivió noventa años, y engendró a Cainán; y Enós y el resto del pueblo de Dios salieron de la tierra que se llamaba Shulón y habitaron en una tierra prometida, a la cual él dio el nombre de su propio hijo, a quien había llamado Cainán;

18 And Enos lived, after he begat Cainan, eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat many sons and daughters. And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years, and he died.

18 y después de engendrar a Cainán, Enós vivió ochocientos quince años, y engendró muchos hijos e hijas. Y todos los días de Enós fueron novecientos cinco años, y murió.

19 And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel; and Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

19 Cainán vivió setenta años, y engendró a Mahalaleel; y vivió Cainán, después que engendró a Mahalaleel, ochocientos cuarenta años, y engendró hijos e hijas. Y fueron todos los días de Cainán novecientos diez años, y murió.

20 And Mahalaleel lived sixty-five years, and begat Jared; and Mahalaleel lived, after he begat Jared, eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.

20 Mahalaleel vivió sesenta y cinco años, y engendró a Jared, y después de engendrar a Jared, vivió ochocientos treinta años, y engendró hijos e hijas. Y fueron todos los días de Mahalaleel ochocientos noventa y cinco años, y murió.

21 And Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and begat Enoch; and Jared lived, after he begat Enoch, eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. And Jared taught Enoch in all the ways of God.

21 Jared vivió ciento sesenta y dos años, y engendró a Enoc; y vivió Jared ochocientos años después de engendrar a Enoc, y engendró hijos e hijas. Y Jared instruyó a Enoc en todas las vías de Dios.

22 And this is the genealogy of the sons of Adam, who was the son of God, with whom God, himself, conversed.

22 Y esta es la genealogía de los hijos de Adán, que fue el hijo de Dios, con el cual Dios mismo conversó.

23 And they were preachers of righteousness, and spake and prophesied, and called upon all men, everywhere, to repent; and faith was taught unto the children of men.

23 Y fueron predicadores de rectitud; y hablaron, profetizaron y exhortaron a todos los hombres, en todas partes, a que se arrepintieran; y se enseñó la fe a los hijos de los hombres.

24 And it came to pass that all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.

24 Sucedió, pues, que todos los días de Jared fueron novecientos sesenta y dos años, y murió.

25 And Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begat Methuselah.

25 Y Enoc vivió sesenta y cinco años, y engendró a Matusalén.

26 And it came to pass that Enoch journeyed in the land, among the people; and as he journeyed, the Spirit of God descended out of heaven, and abode upon him.

26 Y aconteció que Enoc viajaba por la tierra, entre el pueblo, y mientras viajaba, el Espíritu de Dios descendió del cielo y reposó sobre él.

27 And he heard a voice from heaven, saying: Enoch, my son, prophesy unto this people, and say unto them—Repent, for thus saith the Lord: I am angry with this people, and my fierce anger is kindled against them; for their hearts have waxed hard, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes cannot see afar off;

27 Y oyó una voz del cielo que decía: Enoc, hijo mío, profetiza a los de este pueblo y diles: Arrepentíos, porque así dice el Señor: Estoy enojado contra este pueblo, y mi furiosa ira está encendida en contra de ellos, pues se han endurecido sus corazones, y sus oídos se han entorpecido, y sus ojos no pueden ver lejos;

28 And for these many generations, ever since the day that I created them, have they gone astray, and have denied me, and have sought their own counsels in the dark; and in their own abominations have they devised murder, and have not kept the commandments, which I gave unto their father, Adam.

28 y durante estas muchas generaciones, desde el día en que los creé, se han desviado, y me han negado y buscado sus propios consejos en las tinieblas; y en sus propias abominaciones han ideado el asesinato, y no han guardado los mandamientos que yo di a su padre Adán.

29 Wherefore, they have foresworn themselves, and, by their oaths, they have brought upon themselves death; and a hell I have prepared for them, if they repent not;

29 Por consiguiente, se han juramentado entre sí, y a causa de sus propios juramentos han traído la muerte sobre sí mismos; y tengo preparado un infierno para ellos, si no se arrepienten;

30 And this is a decree, which I have sent forth in the beginning of the world, from my own mouth, from the foundation thereof, and by the mouths of my servants, thy fathers, have I decreed it, even as it shall be sent forth in the world, unto the ends thereof.

30 y este es un decreto que he enviado, de mi propia boca, desde el principio del mundo, desde la fundación de este; y lo he decretado por boca de mis siervos, tus padres, tal como ha de ser enviado al mundo, hasta sus confines.

31 And when Enoch had heard these words, he bowed himself to the earth, before the Lord, and spake before the Lord, saying: Why is it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am but a lad, and all the people hate me; for I am slow of speech; wherefore am I thy servant?

31 Y cuando Enoc oyó estas palabras, se humilló a tierra ante el Señor, y habló ante él, diciendo: ¿Por qué he hallado gracia ante tu vista, si no soy más que un jovenzuelo, y toda la gente me desprecia, por cuanto soy tardo en el habla; por qué soy tu siervo?

32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I have commanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good.

32 Y el Señor dijo a Enoc: Ve y haz lo que te he mandado, y ningún hombre te herirá. Abre tu boca y se llenará, y yo te daré poder para expresarte, porque toda carne está en mis manos, y haré conforme bien me parezca.

33 Say unto this people: Choose ye this day, to serve the Lord God who made you.

33 Di a este pueblo: Elegid hoy servir a Dios el Señor que os hizo.

34 Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me.

34 He aquí, mi Espíritu reposa sobre ti; por consiguiente, justificaré todas tus palabras; y las montañas huirán de tu presencia, y los ríos se desviarán de su cauce; y tú permanecerás en mí, y yo en ti; por tanto, anda conmigo.

35 And the Lord spake unto Enoch, and said unto him: Anoint thine eyes with clay, and wash them, and thou shalt see. And he did so.

35 Y el Señor habló a Enoc y le dijo: Úntate los ojos con barro, y lávatelos, y verás. Y Enoc lo hizo.

36 And he beheld the spirits that God had created; and he beheld also things which were not visible to the natural eye; and from thenceforth came the saying abroad in the land: A seer hath the Lord raised up unto his people.

36 Y vio los espíritus que Dios había creado; y también vio cosas que el ojo natural no percibe; y desde entonces se esparció este dicho por la tierra: El Señor ha levantado un vidente a su pueblo.

37 And it came to pass that Enoch went forth in the land, among the people, standing upon the hills and the high places, and cried with a loud voice, testifying against their works; and all men were offended because of him.

37 Y sucedió que Enoc salió por la tierra, entre el pueblo, y subía a las colinas y a los lugares altos y clamaba en voz alta, testificando en contra de sus obras; y todos los hombres se ofendían por causa de él.

38 And they came forth to hear him, upon the high places, saying unto the tent-keepers: Tarry ye here and keep the tents, while we go yonder to behold the seer, for he prophesieth, and there is a strange thing in the land; a wild man hath come among us.

38 Y salían a escucharlo, en los lugares altos, y decían a los que guardaban las tiendas: Quedaos aquí y cuidad las tiendas mientras vamos allá para ver al vidente, porque profetiza, y hay una cosa extraña en la tierra; ha venido un demente entre nosotros.

39 And it came to pass when they heard him, no man laid hands on him; for fear came on all them that heard him; for he walked with God.

39 Y aconteció que cuando lo oyeron, ninguno puso las manos en él, porque el temor se apoderó de todos los que lo oían; porque andaba con Dios.

40 And there came a man unto him, whose name was Mahijah, and said unto him: Tell us plainly who thou art, and from whence thou comest?

40 Y vino a él un hombre llamado Mahíjah, y le dijo: Dinos claramente quién eres, y de dónde vienes.

41 And he said unto them: I came out from the land of Cainan, the land of my fathers, a land of righteousness unto this day. And my father taught me in all the ways of God.

41 Y él les contestó: Vine de la tierra de Cainán, tierra de mis padres, una tierra de rectitud hasta el día de hoy. Mi padre me instruyó en todas las vías de Dios;

42 And it came to pass, as I journeyed from the land of Cainan, by the sea east, I beheld a vision; and lo, the heavens I saw, and the Lord spake with me, and gave me commandment; wherefore, for this cause, to keep the commandment, I speak forth these words.

42 y aconteció que mientras yo venía de la tierra de Cainán, por el mar del oriente, vi una visión; y he aquí, vi los cielos, y el Señor habló conmigo y me dio un mandamiento; de modo que, por esta causa hablo estas palabras a fin de cumplir el mandamiento.

43 And Enoch continued his speech, saying: The Lord which spake with me, the same is the God of heaven, and he is my God, and your God, and ye are my brethren, and why counsel ye yourselves, and deny the God of heaven?

43 Y Enoc continuó sus palabras, diciendo: El Señor que habló conmigo es el Dios del cielo; y es mi Dios y vuestro Dios, y vosotros sois mis hermanos; y, ¿por qué os aconsejáis vosotros mismos y negáis al Dios del cielo?

44 The heavens he made; the earth is his footstool; and the foundation thereof is his. Behold, he laid it, an host of men hath he brought in upon the face thereof.

44 Él hizo los cielos; la tierra es el estrado de sus pies; y suyo es el fundamento de ella. He aquí, él la estableció, y ha traído una hueste de hombres sobre la faz de ella.

45 And death hath come upon our fathers; nevertheless we know them, and cannot deny, and even the first of all we know, even Adam.

45 Y la muerte ha venido sobre nuestros padres; no obstante, los conocemos, y no podemos negar, y conocemos aun el primero de todos, sí, Adán.

46 For a book of remembrance we have written among us, according to the pattern given by the finger of God; and it is given in our own language.

46 Porque hemos escrito un libro de memorias entre nosotros, de acuerdo con el modelo dado por el dedo de Dios; y se ha dado en nuestro propio idioma.

47 And as Enoch spake forth the words of God, the people trembled, and could not stand in his presence.

47 Y al hablar Enoc las palabras de Dios, la gente tembló y no pudo estar en su presencia.

48 And he said unto them: Because that Adam fell, we are; and by his fall came death; and we are made partakers of misery and woe.

48 Y él les dijo: Por motivo de que Adán cayó, nosotros existimos; y por su caída vino la muerte; y somos hechos partícipes de miseria y angustia.

49 Behold Satan hath come among the children of men, and tempteth them to worship him; and men have become carnal, sensual, and devilish, and are shut out from the presence of God.

49 He aquí, Satanás viene entre los hijos de los hombres, y los tienta para que lo adoren; y los hombres se han vuelto carnales, sensuales y diabólicos, y se hallan desterrados de la presencia de Dios.

50 But God hath made known unto our fathers that all men must repent.

50 Mas Dios ha hecho saber a nuestros padres que es preciso que todos los hombres se arrepientan.

51 And he called upon our father Adam by his own voice, saying: I am God; I made the world, and men before they were in the flesh.

51 Y por su propia voz llamó a nuestro padre Adán, diciendo: Yo soy Dios; yo hice el mundo y a los hombres antes que existiesen en la carne.

52 And he also said unto him: If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be baptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth, which is Jesus Christ, the only name which shall be given under heaven, whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men, ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, asking all things in his name, and whatsoever ye shall ask, it shall be given you.

52 Y también le dijo: Si te vuelves a mí y escuchas mi voz, y crees y te arrepientes de todas tus transgresiones, y te bautizas en el agua, en el nombre de mi Hijo Unigénito, lleno de gracia y de verdad, el cual es Jesucristo, el único nombre que se dará debajo del cielo mediante el cual vendrá la salvación a los hijos de los hombres, recibirás el don del Espíritu Santo, pidiendo todas las cosas en su nombre, y te será dado cuanto tú pidieres.

53 And our father Adam spake unto the Lord, and said: Why is it that men must repent and be baptized in water? And the Lord said unto Adam: Behold I have forgiven thee thy transgression in the Garden of Eden.

53 Y nuestro padre Adán habló al Señor, y dijo: ¿Por qué es necesario que los hombres se arrepientan y se bauticen en el agua? Y el Señor le contestó: He aquí, te he perdonado tu transgresión en el Jardín de Edén.

54 Hence came the saying abroad among the people, that the Son of God hath atoned for original guilt, wherein the sins of the parents cannot be answered upon the heads of the children, for they are whole from the foundation of the world.

54 De allí que se extendió entre el pueblo el dicho: Que el Hijo de Dios ha expiado la transgresión original, por lo que los pecados de los padres no pueden recaer sobre la cabeza de los niños, porque estos son limpios desde la fundación del mundo.

55 And the Lord spake unto Adam, saying: Inasmuch as thy children are conceived in sin, even so when they begin to grow up, sin conceiveth in their hearts, and they taste the bitter, that they may know to prize the good.

55 Y el Señor habló a Adán, diciendo: Por cuanto se conciben tus hijos en pecado, de igual manera, cuando empiezan a crecer, el pecado nace en sus corazones, y prueban lo amargo para saber apreciar lo bueno.

56 And it is given unto them to know good from evil; wherefore they are agents unto themselves, and I have given unto you another law and commandment.

56 Y les es concedido discernir el bien del mal; de modo que, son sus propios agentes, y otra ley y mandamiento te he dado.

57 Wherefore teach it unto your children, that all men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence; for, in the language of Adam, Man of Holiness is his name, and the name of his Only Begotten is the Son of Man, even Jesus Christ, a righteous Judge, who shall come in the meridian of time.

57 Enséñalo, pues, a tus hijos, que es preciso que todos los hombres, en todas partes, se arrepientan, o de ninguna manera heredarán el reino de Dios, porque ninguna cosa inmunda puede morar allí, ni morar en su presencia; porque en el lenguaje de Adán, su nombre es Hombre de Santidad, y el nombre de su Unigénito es el Hijo del Hombre, sí, Jesucristo, un justo Juez que vendrá en el meridiano de los tiempos.

58 Therefore I give unto you a commandment, to teach these things freely unto your children, saying:

58 Por tanto, te doy el mandamiento de enseñar estas cosas sin reserva a tus hijos, diciendo:

59 That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory;

59 Que por causa de la transgresión viene la caída, la cual trae la muerte; y como habéis nacido en el mundo mediante el agua, y la sangre, y el espíritu que yo he hecho, y así del polvo habéis llegado a ser alma viviente, así igualmente tendréis que nacer otra vez en el reino de los cielos, del agua y del Espíritu, y ser purificados por sangre, a saber, la sangre de mi Unigénito, para que seáis santificados de todo pecado y gocéis de las palabras de vida eterna en este mundo, y la vida eterna en el mundo venidero, sí, gloria inmortal;

60 For by the water ye keep the commandment; by the Spirit ye are justified, and by the blood ye are sanctified;

60 porque por el agua guardáis el mandamiento; por el Espíritu sois justificados; y por la sangre sois santificados;

61 Therefore it is given to abide in you; the record of heaven; the Comforter; the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all things; that which knoweth all things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth, justice, and judgment.

61 de manera que se da para que permanezca en vosotros; el testimonio del cielo; el Consolador; las cosas pacíficas de la gloria inmortal; la verdad de todas las cosas; lo que vivifica todas las cosas; lo que conoce todas las cosas y tiene todo poder de acuerdo con la sabiduría, la misericordia, verdad, justicia y juicio.

62 And now, behold, I say unto you: This is the plan of salvation unto all men, through the blood of mine Only Begotten, who shall come in the meridian of time.

62 Y ahora bien, he aquí, ahora te digo: Este es el plan de salvación para todos los hombres, mediante la sangre de mi Unigénito, el cual vendrá en el meridiano de los tiempos.

63 And behold, all things have their likeness, and all things are created and made to bear record of me, both things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are in the earth, and things which are under the earth, both above and beneath: all things bear record of me.

63 Y he aquí, todas las cosas tienen su semejanza, y se han creado y hecho todas las cosas para que den testimonio de mí; tanto las que son temporales, como las que son espirituales; cosas que hay arriba en los cielos, cosas que están sobre la tierra, cosas que están en la tierra y cosas que están debajo de la tierra, tanto arriba como abajo; todas las cosas testifican de mí.

64 And it came to pass, when the Lord had spoken with Adam, our father, that Adam cried unto the Lord, and he was caught away by the Spirit of the Lord, and was carried down into the water, and was laid under the water, and was brought forth out of the water.

64 Y cuando el Señor hubo hablado con Adán, nuestro padre, sucedió que Adán clamó al Señor, y lo arrebató el Espíritu del Señor, y fue llevado al agua, y sumergido en el agua, y sacado del agua.

65 And thus he was baptized, and the Spirit of God descended upon him, and thus he was born of the Spirit, and became quickened in the inner man.

65 Y de esta manera fue bautizado, y el Espíritu de Dios descendió sobre él, y así nació del Espíritu, y fue vivificado en el hombre interior.

66 And he heard a voice out of heaven, saying: Thou art baptized with fire, and with the Holy Ghost. This is the record of the Father, and the Son, from henceforth and forever;

66 Y oyó una voz del cielo que decía: Eres bautizado con fuego y con el Espíritu Santo. Este es el testimonio del Padre y del Hijo, desde ahora y para siempre;

67 And thou art after the order of him who was without beginning of days or end of years, from all eternity to all eternity.

67 y eres según el orden de aquel que fue sin principio de días ni fin de años, de eternidad en eternidad.

68 Behold, thou art one in me, a son of God; and thus may all become my sons. Amen.

68 He aquí, eres uno en mí, un hijo de Dios; y así todos pueden llegar a ser mis hijos. Amén.
