1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.

1 Y yo, Dios el Señor, le hablé a Moisés, diciendo: Ese Satanás, a quien tú has mandado en el nombre de mi Unigénito, es el mismo que existió desde el principio; y vino ante mí, diciendo: Heme aquí, envíame a mí. Seré tu hijo y redimiré a todo el género humano, de modo que no se perderá ni una sola alma, y de seguro lo haré; dame, pues, tu honra.

2 But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.

2 Pero, he aquí, mi Hijo Amado, que fue mi Amado y mi Escogido desde el principio, me dijo: Padre, hágase tu voluntad, y sea tuya la gloria para siempre.

3 Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down;

3 Pues, por motivo de que Satanás se rebeló contra mí, y pretendió destruir el albedrío del hombre que yo, Dios el Señor, le había dado, y que también le diera mi propio poder, hice que fuese echado abajo por el poder de mi Unigénito;

4 And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.

4 y llegó a ser Satanás, sí, el diablo, el padre de todas las mentiras, para engañar y cegar a los hombres y llevarlos cautivos según la voluntad de él, sí, a cuantos no quieran escuchar mi voz.

5 And now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which I, the Lord God, had made.

5 Ahora bien, la serpiente era más astuta que cualquiera de las bestias del campo que yo, Dios el Señor, había hecho.

6 And Satan put it into the heart of the serpent, (for he had drawn away many after him,) and he sought also to beguile Eve, for he knew not the mind of God, wherefore he sought to destroy the world.

6 Y Satanás incitó el corazón de la serpiente (porque se había llevado a muchos en pos de él), y procuró también engañar a Eva, porque no conocía la mente de Dios, de manera que procuraba destruir el mundo.

7 And he said unto the woman: Yea, hath God said—Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? (And he spake by the mouth of the serpent.)

7 Y dijo a la mujer: ¿Conque Dios ha dicho: No comeréis de todo árbol del jardín? (Y hablaba por boca de la serpiente).

8 And the woman said unto the serpent: We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden;

8 Y la mujer dijo a la serpiente: Podemos comer del fruto de los árboles del jardín;

9 But of the fruit of the tree which thou beholdest in the midst of the garden, God hath said—Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

9 mas en cuanto al fruto del árbol que ves en medio del jardín, Dios ha dicho: No comeréis de él, ni lo tocaréis, no sea que muráis.

10 And the serpent said unto the woman: Ye shall not surely die;

10 Y la serpiente dijo a la mujer: De cierto no moriréis;

11 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

11 pues Dios sabe que el día en que de él comiereis se abrirán vuestros ojos, y seréis como dioses, conociendo el bien y el mal.

12 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it became pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make her wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and also gave unto her husband with her, and he did eat.

12 Y cuando la mujer vio que el árbol era bueno para comer, y que se había vuelto agradable a los ojos, y un árbol deseable para darle sabiduría, tomó ella de su fruto y comió, y dio también a su marido, y él comió con ella.

13 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they had been naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.

13 Y fueron abiertos los ojos de ambos, y se dieron cuenta de que habían estado desnudos. Y cosieron hojas de higuera y se hicieron delantales.

14 And they heard the voice of the Lord God, as they were walking in the garden, in the cool of the day; and Adam and his wife went to hide themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.

14 Y oyeron la voz de Dios el Señor, mientras se paseaban en el jardín al fresco del día, y Adán y su esposa fueron a esconderse de la presencia de Dios el Señor entre los árboles del jardín.

15 And I, the Lord God, called unto Adam, and said unto him: Where goest thou?

15 Y yo, Dios el Señor, llamé a Adán, y le dije: ¿A dónde vas?

16 And he said: I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I beheld that I was naked, and I hid myself.

16 Y él respondió: Oí tu voz en el jardín y tuve miedo, porque vi que estaba desnudo, y me escondí.

17 And I, the Lord God, said unto Adam: Who told thee thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat, if so thou shouldst surely die?

17 Y yo, Dios el Señor, dije a Adán: ¿Quién te ha dicho que estabas desnudo? ¿Has comido del árbol del cual te mandé no comer, pues de hacerlo de cierto morirías?

18 And the man said: The woman thou gavest me, and commandest that she should remain with me, she gave me of the fruit of the tree and I did eat.

18 Y el hombre dijo: La mujer que tú me diste, y mandaste que permaneciese conmigo, me dio del fruto del árbol, y yo comí.

19 And I, the Lord God, said unto the woman: What is this thing which thou hast done? And the woman said: The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

19 Y yo, Dios el Señor, dije a la mujer: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho? Y la mujer respondió: La serpiente me engañó, y yo comí.

20 And I, the Lord God, said unto the serpent: Because thou hast done this thou shalt be cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life;

20 Y a la serpiente, yo, Dios el Señor, dije: Por cuanto has hecho esto, maldita serás sobre todo el ganado y sobre toda bestia del campo. Sobre tu vientre te arrastrarás y polvo comerás todos los días de tu vida;

21 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, between thy seed and her seed; and he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

21 y pondré enemistad entre tú y la mujer, entre tu simiente y la de ella; y él te herirá la cabeza, y tú le herirás el calcañar.

22 Unto the woman, I, the Lord God, said: I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception. In sorrow thou shalt bring forth children, and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

22 A la mujer, yo, Dios el Señor dije: Multiplicaré en gran manera tus dolores en tus preñeces. Con dolor darás a luz los hijos, y tu deseo será para tu marido, y él se enseñoreará de ti;

23 And unto Adam, I, the Lord God, said: Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the fruit of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying—Thou shalt not eat of it, cursed shall be the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

23 y a Adán, yo, Dios el Señor, dije: Por haber escuchado la voz de tu esposa y comido del fruto del árbol del cual te mandé, diciendo: No comerás de él, maldita será la tierra por tu causa; con dolor comerás de ella todos los días de tu vida.

24 Thorns also, and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field.

24 Espinas también, y cardos te producirá, y comerás la hierba del campo.

25 By the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, until thou shalt return unto the ground—for thou shalt surely die—for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou wast, and unto dust shalt thou return.

25 Con el sudor de tu rostro comerás el pan hasta que vuelvas a la tierra—pues de cierto morirás—porque de ella fuiste tomado: pues polvo eras, y al polvo has de volver.

26 And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living; for thus have I, the Lord God, called the first of all women, which are many.

26 Y Adán llamó Eva a su esposa, por cuanto ella fue la madre de todos los vivientes; porque así yo, Dios el Señor, he llamado a la primera de todas las mujeres, que son muchas.

27 Unto Adam, and also unto his wife, did I, the Lord God, make coats of skins, and clothed them.

27 Y yo, Dios el Señor, hice túnicas de pieles para Adán y también para su esposa, y los vestí.

28 And I, the Lord God, said unto mine Only Begotten: Behold, the man is become as one of us to know good and evil; and now lest he put forth his hand and partake also of the tree of life, and eat and live forever,

28 Y yo, Dios el Señor, dije a mi Unigénito: He aquí, el hombre ha llegado a ser como uno de nosotros, conociendo el bien y el mal; y ahora, no sea que extienda su mano y tome también del árbol de la vida, y coma y viva para siempre,

29 Therefore I, the Lord God, will send him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken;

29 por tanto, yo, Dios el Señor, lo sacaré del Jardín de Edén para que labre la tierra de la cual fue tomado;

30 For as I, the Lord God, liveth, even so my words cannot return void, for as they go forth out of my mouth they must be fulfilled.

30 porque vivo yo, dice Dios el Señor, que no se han de frustrar mis palabras, pues tal como salen de mi boca tendrán que ser cumplidas.

31 So I drove out the man, and I placed at the east of the Garden of Eden, cherubim and a flaming sword, which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.

31 De modo que expulsé al hombre, y coloqué al oriente del Jardín de Edén querubines y una espada encendida, la cual daba vueltas por todos lados, para guardar el camino del árbol de la vida.

32 (And these are the words which I spake unto my servant Moses, and they are true even as I will; and I have spoken them unto you. See thou show them unto no man, until I command you, except to them that believe. Amen.)

32 (Y estas son las palabras que hablé a mi siervo Moisés; y son verdaderas conforme a mi voluntad; y te las he declarado. Mira que no las muestres a hombre alguno, salvo a los que crean, hasta que yo te lo mande. Amén).
