1 Thus the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

1 Así se terminaron el cielo y la tierra y todas sus huestes.

2 And on the seventh day I, God, ended my work, and all things which I had made; and I rested on the seventh day from all my work, and all things which I had made were finished, and I, God, saw that they were good;

2 Y en el día séptimo yo, Dios, acabé mi obra y todas las cosas que había hecho; y descansé el día séptimo de toda mi obra, y todas las cosas que yo había hecho quedaron terminadas; y yo, Dios, vi que eran buenas;

3 And I, God, blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it I had rested from all my work which I, God, had created and made.

3 y yo, Dios, bendije el día séptimo y lo santifiqué, por motivo de que en él había reposado de toda la obra que yo, Dios, había creado y hecho.

4 And now, behold, I say unto you, that these are the generations of the heaven and of the earth, when they were created, in the day that I, the Lord God, made the heaven and the earth,

4 Y ahora bien, he aquí, te digo que estos son los orígenes del cielo y de la tierra, cuando fueron creados, el día en que yo, Dios el Señor, hice el cielo y la tierra;

5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth. For I, the Lord God, had not caused it to rain upon the face of the earth. And I, the Lord God, had created all the children of men; and not yet a man to till the ground; for in heaven created I them; and there was not yet flesh upon the earth, neither in the water, neither in the air;

5 y toda planta del campo antes que existiese en la tierra, y toda hierba del campo antes que creciese. Porque yo, Dios el Señor, creé espiritualmente todas las cosas de que he hablado, antes que existiesen físicamente sobre la faz de la tierra. Pues yo, Dios el Señor, no había hecho llover sobre la faz de la tierra. Y yo, Dios el Señor, había creado a todos los hijos de los hombres; y no había hombre todavía para que labrase la tierra; porque los había creado en el cielo; y aún no había carne sobre la tierra, ni en el agua, ni en el aire;

6 But I, the Lord God, spake, and there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

6 mas yo, Dios el Señor, hablé, y subió de la tierra un vapor, y regó toda la superficie de la tierra.

7 And I, the Lord God, formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul, the first flesh upon the earth, the first man also; nevertheless, all things were before created; but spiritually were they created and made according to my word.

7 Y yo, Dios el Señor, formé al hombre del polvo de la tierra, y soplé en su nariz el aliento de vida; y el hombre fue alma viviente, la primera carne sobre la tierra, también el primer hombre; sin embargo, todas las cosas fueron creadas con anterioridad; pero fueron creadas espiritualmente y hechas conforme a mi palabra.

8 And I, the Lord God, planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there I put the man whom I had formed.

8 Y yo, Dios el Señor, planté un jardín hacia el oriente en Edén, y allí puse al hombre que había formado.

9 And out of the ground made I, the Lord God, to grow every tree, naturally, that is pleasant to the sight of man; and man could behold it. And it became also a living soul. For it was spiritual in the day that I created it; for it remaineth in the sphere in which I, God, created it, yea, even all things which I prepared for the use of man; and man saw that it was good for food. And I, the Lord God, planted the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and also the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

9 Y de la tierra, yo, Dios el Señor, hice crecer físicamente todo árbol que es agradable a la vista del hombre; y el hombre podía verlos. Y también se tornaron en almas vivientes. Porque eran espirituales el día en que los creé; pues permanecen en la esfera en que yo, Dios, los creé, sí, todas las cosas que preparé para el uso del hombre; y este vio que eran buenas como alimento. Y yo, Dios el Señor, también planté el árbol de la vida en medio del jardín, y asimismo el árbol de la ciencia del bien y del mal.

10 And I, the Lord God, caused a river to go out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

10 Y yo, Dios el Señor, hice que saliera un río del Edén para regar el jardín; y de allí se repartía en cuatro brazos.

11 And I, the Lord God, called the name of the first Pison, and it compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where I, the Lord God, created much gold;

11 Y yo, Dios el Señor, di al primero el nombre de Pisón, el cual cerca toda la tierra de Havila, donde yo, Dios el Señor, había creado mucho oro;

12 And the gold of that land was good, and there was bdellium and the onyx stone.

12 y el oro de aquella tierra era bueno, y había bedelio y ónice.

13 And the name of the second river was called Gihon; the same that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

13 Y el nombre del segundo río era Gihón, el mismo que rodea toda la tierra de Etiopía.

14 And the name of the third river was Hiddekel; that which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river was the Euphrates.

14 Y el nombre del tercer río era Hidekel; y este corre hacia el oriente de Asiria; y el cuarto río era el Eufrates.

15 And I, the Lord God, took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden, to dress it, and to keep it.

15 Y yo, Dios el Señor, tomé al hombre y lo puse en el Jardín de Edén para que lo cultivara y lo guardara.

16 And I, the Lord God, commanded the man, saying: Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat,

16 Y yo, Dios el Señor, le di mandamiento al hombre, diciendo: De todo árbol del jardín podrás comer libremente,

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, nevertheless, thou mayest choose for thyself, for it is given unto thee; but, remember that I forbid it, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

17 mas del árbol de la ciencia del bien y del mal no comerás. No obstante, podrás escoger según tu voluntad, porque te es concedido; pero recuerda que yo lo prohíbo, porque el día en que de él comieres, de cierto morirás.

18 And I, the Lord God, said unto mine Only Begotten, that it was not good that the man should be alone; wherefore, I will make an help meet for him.

18 Y yo, Dios el Señor, dije a mi Unigénito que no era bueno que el hombre estuviese solo; por consiguiente, le haré una ayuda idónea para él.

19 And out of the ground I, the Lord God, formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and commanded that they should come unto Adam, to see what he would call them; and they were also living souls; for I, God, breathed into them the breath of life, and commanded that whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that should be the name thereof.

19 Y de la tierra, yo, Dios el Señor, formé a toda bestia del campo y a toda ave del cielo; y mandé que fuesen a Adán para ver qué nombre les daría; y también fueron almas vivientes, porque yo, Dios el Señor, soplé en ellos el aliento de vida; y mandé que lo que Adán llamara a todo ser viviente, tal fuese su nombre.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but as for Adam, there was not found an help meet for him.

20 Y Adán dio nombre a todo el ganado, a las aves del cielo y a toda bestia del campo; pero en cuanto a Adán, no se encontró ayuda idónea para él.

21 And I, the Lord God, caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and he slept, and I took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in the stead thereof;

21 Y yo, Dios el Señor, hice que cayera un sueño profundo sobre Adán, y durmió; y tomé una de sus costillas y cerré la carne en su lugar;

22 And the rib which I, the Lord God, had taken from man, made I a woman, and brought her unto the man.

22 y de la costilla que yo, Dios el Señor, había tomado del hombre, hice una mujer y la traje al hombre.

23 And Adam said: This I know now is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man.

23 Y Adán dijo: Ahora sé que esta es hueso de mis huesos y carne de mi carne; Varona se llamará, porque del varón fue tomada.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.

24 Por tanto, dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se allegará a su esposa; y serán una sola carne.

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

25 Y estaban ambos desnudos, el hombre y su esposa, y no se avergonzaban.
