1 And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.

1 Entonces el Señor dijo: Descendamos. Y descendieron en el principio, y ellos, esto es, los Dioses, organizaron y formaron los cielos y la tierra.

2 And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters.

2 Y la tierra, después de ser formada, estaba vacía y desolada, porque no habían formado más que la tierra; y la obscuridad prevalecía sobre la faz del abismo, y el Espíritu de los Dioses cubría la faz de las aguas.

3 And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light; and there was light.

3 Y ellos (los Dioses) dijeron: Haya luz; y hubo luz.

4 And they (the Gods) comprehended the light, for it was bright; and they divided the light, or caused it to be divided, from the darkness.

4 Y ellos (los Dioses) comprendieron la luz, porque brillaba; y separaron la luz, o sea, hicieron que fuera separada de las tinieblas.

5 And the Gods called the light Day, and the darkness they called Night. And it came to pass that from the evening until morning they called night; and from the morning until the evening they called day; and this was the first, or the beginning, of that which they called day and night.

5 Y los Dioses llamaron a la luz Día, y a las tinieblas llamaron Noche. Y aconteció que desde la tarde hasta la mañana llamaron noche, y desde la mañana hasta la tarde llamaron día; y este fue el primero, o sea, el principio de lo que ellos llamaron día y noche.

6 And the Gods also said: Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and it shall divide the waters from the waters.

6 Y los Dioses también dijeron: Haya una expansión en medio de las aguas, y esta separará las aguas de las aguas.

7 And the Gods ordered the expanse, so that it divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so, even as they ordered.

7 Y los Dioses ordenaron la expansión, de modo que separó las aguas que estaban debajo de la expansión de las aguas que estaban sobre la expansión; y así fue, tal como ordenaron.

8 And the Gods called the expanse, Heaven. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and this was the second time that they called night and day.

8 Y los Dioses llamaron a la expansión Cielo. Y sucedió que lo que fue desde la tarde hasta la mañana llamaron noche; y sucedió que lo que fue desde la mañana hasta la tarde llamaron día; y fue la segunda ocasión que designaron noche y día.

9 And the Gods ordered, saying: Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the earth come up dry; and it was so as they ordered;

9 Y los Dioses ordenaron, diciendo: Júntense en un lugar las aguas que están debajo del cielo, y aparezca la tierra seca; y fue hecho como lo ordenaron;

10 And the Gods pronounced the dry land, Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, pronounced they, Great Waters; and the Gods saw that they were obeyed.

10 y a la parte seca los Dioses llamaron Tierra; y al recogimiento de las aguas llamaron Grandes Aguas; y los Dioses vieron que se les obedecía.

11 And the Gods said: Let us prepare the earth to bring forth grass; the herb yielding seed; the fruit tree yielding fruit, after his kind, whose seed in itself yieldeth its own likeness upon the earth; and it was so, even as they ordered.

11 Y los Dioses dijeron: Preparemos la tierra para que produzca pasto; la hierba que dé semilla; el árbol frutal que dé fruto según su especie, cuya semilla dentro de sí reproduzca su especie sobre la tierra; y fue así, tal como ordenaron.

12 And the Gods organized the earth to bring forth grass from its own seed, and the herb to bring forth herb from its own seed, yielding seed after his kind; and the earth to bring forth the tree from its own seed, yielding fruit, whose seed could only bring forth the same in itself, after his kind; and the Gods saw that they were obeyed.

12 Y los Dioses organizaron la tierra para que produjese el pasto de su propia semilla, y la hierba para que de su propia semilla produjese hierba, dando semilla según su especie; y la tierra para que produjese el árbol frutal de su propia semilla, cuya semilla solo pudiera reproducir lo que estuviese en sí, según su especie; y los Dioses vieron que se les obedecía.

13 And it came to pass that they numbered the days; from the evening until the morning they called night; and it came to pass, from the morning until the evening they called day; and it was the third time.

13 Y aconteció que contaron los días; de la tarde a la mañana llamaron noche, y aconteció que de la mañana a la tarde llamaron día; y fue la tercera ocasión.

14 And the Gods organized the lights in the expanse of the heaven, and caused them to divide the day from the night; and organized them to be for signs and for seasons, and for days and for years;

14 Y los Dioses organizaron los luminares en la expansión del cielo, e hicieron que separasen el día de la noche; y los organizaron para que fuesen por señales y por estaciones, y por días y por años;

15 And organized them to be for lights in the expanse of the heaven to give light upon the earth; and it was so.

15 y los organizaron para que fuesen por luminares en la expansión del cielo, para alumbrar la tierra; y fue así.

16 And the Gods organized the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; with the lesser light they set the stars also;

16 Y los Dioses organizaron los dos grandes luminares, el luminar mayor para señorear el día, y el luminar menor para señorear la noche; con el luminar menor también fijaron las estrellas;

17 And the Gods set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to cause to divide the light from the darkness.

17 y los Dioses los pusieron en la expansión de los cielos para dar luz a la tierra, y para que señoreasen el día y la noche, y hacer que separasen la luz de las tinieblas.

18 And the Gods watched those things which they had ordered until they obeyed.

18 Y los Dioses vigilaron aquellas cosas que habían ordenado hasta que obedecieron.

19 And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that it was night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that it was day; and it was the fourth time.

19 Y sucedió que de la tarde a la mañana fue noche; y sucedió que de la mañana a la tarde fue día; y fue la cuarta ocasión.

20 And the Gods said: Let us prepare the waters to bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that have life; and the fowl, that they may fly above the earth in the open expanse of heaven.

20 Y los Dioses dijeron: Preparemos las aguas para que produzcan en abundancia los seres animados que tienen vida; y las aves, para que vuelen sobre la tierra en la vasta expansión del cielo.

21 And the Gods prepared the waters that they might bring forth great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters were to bring forth abundantly after their kind; and every winged fowl after their kind. And the Gods saw that they would be obeyed, and that their plan was good.

21 Y los Dioses prepararon las aguas para que produjesen grandes ballenas y todo ser viviente que se mueve, los cuales las aguas habían de producir abundantemente, según su especie; y toda ave alada, según su especie. Y los Dioses vieron que se les obedecería, y que su plan era bueno.

22 And the Gods said: We will bless them, and cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas or great waters; and cause the fowl to multiply in the earth.

22 Y los Dioses dijeron: Los bendeciremos y haremos que fructifiquen y se multipliquen y llenen las aguas en los mares, o sea, las grandes aguas; y haremos que las aves se multipliquen en la tierra.

23 And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and it was the fifth time.

23 Y sucedió que de la tarde a la mañana llamaron noche; y sucedió que de la mañana a la tarde llamaron día; y fue la quinta ocasión.

24 And the Gods prepared the earth to bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind; and it was so, as they had said.

24 Y los Dioses prepararon la tierra para que produjese animales vivientes, según su especie, ganado y todo lo que se arrastra, y bestias de la tierra según su especie; y así se hizo, tal como habían dicho.

25 And the Gods organized the earth to bring forth the beasts after their kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after its kind; and the Gods saw they would obey.

25 Y los Dioses organizaron la tierra para que produjese las bestias según su especie, y ganado según su especie; y todo lo que se arrastra sobre la tierra, según su especie; y los Dioses vieron que obedecerían.

26 And the Gods took counsel among themselves and said: Let us go down and form man in our image, after our likeness; and we will give them dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

26 Y los Dioses tomaron consejo entre sí, y dijeron: Descendamos y formemos al hombre a nuestra imagen, conforme a nuestra semejanza; y le daremos dominio sobre los peces del mar, sobre las aves del cielo, sobre el ganado y sobre toda la tierra y toda cosa que se arrastra sobre la tierra.

27 So the Gods went down to organize man in their own image, in the image of the Gods to form they him, male and female to form they them.

27 De modo que los Dioses descendieron para organizar al hombre a su propia imagen, para formarlo a imagen de los Dioses, para formarlos varón y hembra.

28 And the Gods said: We will bless them. And the Gods said: We will cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and to have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

28 Y dijeron los Dioses: Los bendeciremos. Y los Dioses dijeron: Haremos que fructifiquen y se multipliquen, y llenen la tierra y la sojuzguen; y que tengan dominio sobre los peces del mar, sobre las aves del cielo y sobre toda cosa viviente que se mueve sobre la tierra.

29 And the Gods said: Behold, we will give them every herb bearing seed that shall come upon the face of all the earth, and every tree which shall have fruit upon it; yea, the fruit of the tree yielding seed to them we will give it; it shall be for their meat.

29 Y los Dioses dijeron: He aquí, les daremos toda hierba que produce semilla que nacerá sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y todo árbol que producirá fruto; sí, les daremos el fruto del árbol que da semilla; esto les será por alimento.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, behold, we will give them life, and also we will give to them every green herb for meat, and all these things shall be thus organized.

30 Y a toda bestia de la tierra, a toda ave del cielo y a todo lo que se arrastra sobre la tierra, he aquí, les daremos vida, y también, les daremos toda hierba verde como alimento, y así se organizarán todas estas cosas.

31 And the Gods said: We will do everything that we have said, and organize them; and behold, they shall be very obedient. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and they numbered the sixth time.

31 Y los Dioses dijeron: Haremos todo lo que hemos dicho y los organizaremos; y he aquí, serán muy obedientes. Y sucedió que de la tarde a la mañana llamaron noche; y sucedió que de la mañana a la tarde llamaron día; y contaron la sexta ocasión.
