1 Now the Lord God caused the famine to wax sore in the land of Ur, insomuch that Haran, my brother, died; but Terah, my father, yet lived in the land of Ur, of the Chaldees.

1 Ahora, Dios el Señor hizo que se agravase el hambre en la tierra de Ur, tanto que murió mi hermano Harán; pero mi padre Taré siguió viviendo en la tierra de Ur de los caldeos.

2 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, took Sarai to wife, and Nahor, my brother, took Milcah to wife, who was the daughter of Haran.

2 Y aconteció que yo, Abraham, tomé por esposa a Sarai; y Nacor, mi hermano, tomó por esposa a Milca, la cual era hija de Harán.

3 Now the Lord had said unto me: Abraham, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee.

3 Y el Señor me había dicho: Abraham, sal de tu país y de tu parentela y de la casa de tu padre, a una tierra que yo te mostraré.

4 Therefore I left the land of Ur, of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and I took Lot, my brother's son, and his wife, and Sarai my wife; and also my father followed after me, unto the land which we denominated Haran.

4 Por consiguiente, salí de la tierra de Ur de los caldeos para ir a la tierra de Canaán; y llevé a Lot, el hijo de mi hermano, y a su esposa, y a Sarai, mi esposa; y mi padre también me siguió hasta la tierra que llamamos Harán.

5 And the famine abated; and my father tarried in Haran and dwelt there, as there were many flocks in Haran; and my father turned again unto his idolatry, therefore he continued in Haran.

5 Y menguó el hambre; y mi padre se quedó en Harán y allí moró, porque había muchos rebaños en Harán; y mi padre volvió de nuevo a su idolatría, por lo que permaneció en Harán.

6 But I, Abraham, and Lot, my brother's son, prayed unto the Lord, and the Lord appeared unto me, and said unto me: Arise, and take Lot with thee; for I have purposed to take thee away out of Haran, and to make of thee a minister to bear my name in a strange land which I will give unto thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession, when they hearken to my voice.

6 Mas yo, Abraham, y Lot, el hijo de mi hermano, oramos al Señor, y el Señor se me apareció y me dijo: Levántate y toma a Lot contigo; porque me he propuesto sacarte de Harán y hacer de ti un ministro para llevar mi nombre en una tierra extraña que daré por posesión sempiterna a los de tu descendencia después de ti, cuando escuchen mi voz.

7 For I am the Lord thy God; I dwell in heaven; the earth is my footstool; I stretch my hand over the sea, and it obeys my voice; I cause the wind and the fire to be my chariot; I say to the mountains—Depart hence—and behold, they are taken away by a whirlwind, in an instant, suddenly.

7 Porque yo soy el Señor tu Dios; yo habito en el cielo; la tierra es el estrado de mis pies; extiendo mi mano sobre el mar, y obedece mi voz; hago que el viento y el fuego me sean por carro; a las montañas digo: Idos de aquí; y he aquí, se las lleva el torbellino en un instante, repentinamente.

8 My name is Jehovah, and I know the end from the beginning; therefore my hand shall be over thee.

8 Jehová es mi nombre, y conozco el fin desde el principio; por lo tanto, te cubriré con mi mano.

9 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee above measure, and make thy name great among all nations, and thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations;

9 Y haré de ti una nación grande y te bendeciré sobremanera, y engrandeceré tu nombre entre todas las naciones, y serás una bendición para tu descendencia después de ti, para que en sus manos lleven este ministerio y sacerdocio a todas las naciones.

10 And I will bless them through thy name; for as many as receive this Gospel shall be called after thy name, and shall be accounted thy seed, and shall rise up and bless thee, as their father;

10 Y las bendeciré mediante tu nombre; pues cuantos reciban este evangelio serán llamados por tu nombre; y serán considerados tu descendencia, y se levantarán y te bendecirán como padre de ellos;

11 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee; and in thee (that is, in thy Priesthood) and in thy seed (that is, thy Priesthood), for I give unto thee a promise that this right shall continue in thee, and in thy seed after thee (that is to say, the literal seed, or the seed of the body) shall all the families of the earth be blessed, even with the blessings of the Gospel, which are the blessings of salvation, even of life eternal.

11 y bendeciré a los que te bendijeren, y maldeciré a los que te maldijeren; y en ti (es decir, en tu sacerdocio) y en tu descendencia (es decir, tu sacerdocio), pues te prometo que en ti continuará este derecho, y en tu descendencia después de ti (es decir, la descendencia literal, o sea, la descendencia corporal) serán bendecidas todas las familias de la tierra, sí, con las bendiciones del evangelio, que son las bendiciones de salvación, sí, de vida eterna.

12 Now, after the Lord had withdrawn from speaking to me, and withdrawn his face from me, I said in my heart: Thy servant has sought thee earnestly; now I have found thee;

12 Y después que el Señor hubo cesado de hablarme, y retiró su faz de mí, dije en mi corazón: Tu siervo te buscó diligentemente; ahora te he hallado;

13 Thou didst send thine angel to deliver me from the gods of Elkenah, and I will do well to hearken unto thy voice, therefore let thy servant rise up and depart in peace.

13 enviaste a tu ángel para librarme de los dioses de Elkénah, y bien haré si escucho tu voz; permite, pues, que tu siervo se levante y vaya en paz.

14 So I, Abraham, departed as the Lord had said unto me, and Lot with me; and I, Abraham, was sixty and two years old when I departed out of Haran.

14 Así que yo, Abraham, salí como el Señor me había dicho, y Lot fue conmigo; y yo, Abraham, tenía sesenta y dos años de edad cuando salí de Harán.

15 And I took Sarai, whom I took to wife when I was in Ur, in Chaldea, and Lot, my brother's son, and all our substance that we had gathered, and the souls that we had won in Haran, and came forth in the way to the land of Canaan, and dwelt in tents as we came on our way;

15 Y tomé a Sarai, a quien había recibido por esposa cuando moraba en Ur de los caldeos, y a Lot, el hijo de mi hermano, junto con todos nuestros bienes que habíamos reunido, y las almas que habíamos ganado en Harán, y tomamos el camino de la tierra de Canaán, habitando en tiendas mientras viajábamos;

16 Therefore, eternity was our covering and our rock and our salvation, as we journeyed from Haran by the way of Jershon, to come to the land of Canaan.

16 por tanto, la eternidad fue nuestra protección y nuestra roca y salvación, mientras viajábamos de Harán por el camino de Jersón para llegar a la tierra de Canaán.

17 Now I, Abraham, built an altar in the land of Jershon, and made an offering unto the Lord, and prayed that the famine might be turned away from my father's house, that they might not perish.

17 Entonces yo, Abraham, edifiqué un altar en la tierra de Jersón e hice una ofrenda al Señor, e imploré que se apartara el hambre de los de la casa de mi padre, a fin de que no perecieran.

18 And then we passed from Jershon through the land unto the place of Sechem; it was situated in the plains of Moreh, and we had already come into the borders of the land of the Canaanites, and I offered sacrifice there in the plains of Moreh, and called on the Lord devoutly, because we had already come into the land of this idolatrous nation.

18 Y de Jersón pasamos por el país hasta llegar al sitio de Siquem, que se encontraba en las llanuras de More; y ya habíamos llegado a las fronteras de la tierra de los cananeos; y allí en el valle de More ofrecí sacrificio e invoqué devotamente al Señor, porque ya habíamos llegado a la tierra de esta nación idólatra.

19 And the Lord appeared unto me in answer to my prayers, and said unto me: Unto thy seed will I give this land.

19 Y el Señor se me apareció en respuesta a mis oraciones, y me dijo: Daré esta tierra a tu descendencia.

20 And I, Abraham, arose from the place of the altar which I had built unto the Lord, and removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched my tent there, Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east; and there I built another altar unto the Lord, and called again upon the name of the Lord.

20 Y yo, Abraham, me levanté del lugar donde le había edificado el altar al Señor, y me trasladé de allí a una montaña al oriente de Betel, y planté mi tienda allí, estando Betel al occidente y Hai al oriente; y allí levanté otro altar al Señor, e invoqué de nuevo el nombre del Señor.

21 And I, Abraham, journeyed, going on still towards the south; and there was a continuation of a famine in the land; and I, Abraham, concluded to go down into Egypt, to sojourn there, for the famine became very grievous.

21 Y yo, Abraham, viajé, continuando todavía hacia el sur; y seguía el hambre en la tierra; y yo, Abraham, decidí descender a Egipto para morar allí, porque se agravó el hambre.

22 And it came to pass when I was come near to enter into Egypt, the Lord said unto me: Behold, Sarai, thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon;

22 Y sucedió que cuando estaba cerca, ya para entrar en Egipto, el Señor me dijo: He aquí, Sarai tu esposa es de hermoso aspecto;

23 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say—She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise:

23 por tanto, sucederá que cuando la vean los egipcios, dirán: Su esposa es; y te matarán, mas a ella le preservarán la vida; por tanto, hazlo de esta manera:

24 Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live.

24 Diga ella a los egipcios que es tu hermana, y vivirá tu alma.

25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.

25 Y aconteció que yo, Abraham, dije a Sarai, mi esposa, todo lo que el Señor me había dicho; por tanto, te ruego les digas que eres mi hermana, para que me vaya bien por causa tuya, y viva mi alma por causa de ti.
