1 The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.

1 La palabra de Jehová que vino a Sofonías hijo de Cusi, hijo de Gedalías, hijo de Amarías, hijo de Ezequías, en los días de Josías hijo de Amón, rey de Judá:

2 I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.

2 Destruiré por completo todas las cosas de sobre la faz de la tierra, dice Jehová.

3 I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.

3 Destruiré a los hombres y las bestias; destruiré las aves del cielo, y los peces del mar y las piedras de tropiezo junto con los malvados; y talaré a los hombres de sobre la faz de la tierra, dice Jehová.

4 I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

4 Y extenderé mi mano contra Judá y contra todos los moradores de Jerusalén; y exterminaré de este lugar los restos de Baal, y el nombre de los ministros idólatras junto con los sacerdotes,

5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;

5 y a los que sobre los terrados se postran ante el ejército del cielo, y a los que se postran jurando por Jehová y jurando por Moloc,

6 And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for him.

6 y a los que se apartan de en pos de Jehová y a los que no buscaron a Jehová ni le consultaron.

7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

7 Calla ante la presencia de Jehová el Señor, porque el día de Jehová está cercano; porque Jehová ha preparado un sacrificio y ha consagrado a sus convidados.

8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

8 Y sucederá que en el día del sacrificio de Jehová, castigaré a los príncipes, y a los hijos del rey y a todos los que llevan vestido extranjero.

9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.

9 Asimismo, castigaré en aquel día a todos los que saltan sobre el umbral, los que llenan de violencia y de engaño las casas de sus señores.

10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

10 Y acontecerá en aquel día, dice Jehová, que habrá voz de clamor desde la puerta del Pescado, y aullido desde el segundo, y gran quebranto desde los collados.

11 Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.

11 Aullad, moradores de Mactes, porque todo el pueblo mercader ha sido destruido; talados han sido todos los que traían dinero.

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

12 Y acontecerá en aquel día que yo escudriñaré a Jerusalén con lámpara, y castigaré a los hombres que reposan tranquilos como el vino asentado, los cuales dicen en su corazón: Jehová no hará bien ni mal.

13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

13 Por tanto, serán saqueados sus bienes y sus casas asoladas; y edificarán casas, mas no las habitarán; y plantarán viñas, mas no beberán el vino de ellas.

14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

14 Cercano está el día grande de Jehová, cercano y viene muy rápido; amargo será el clamor del día de Jehová; allí gritará el valiente.

15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

15 Será día de ira aquel día, día de angustia y de aflicción, día de destrucción y de desolación, día de tinieblas y de oscuridad, día nublado y tenebroso,

16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

16 día de trompeta y de alarido contra las ciudades fortificadas y contra las altas torres.

17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

17 Y atribularé a los hombres, y andarán como ciegos porque pecaron contra Jehová; y la sangre de ellos será derramada como polvo, y su carne como estiércol.

18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

18 Ni su plata ni su oro podrán librarlos en el día de la ira de Jehová, pues toda la tierra será consumida con el fuego de su celo; porque ciertamente destrucción apresurada hará de todos los moradores de la tierra.
