1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

1 Y Booz subió a la puerta y se sentó allí; y he aquí pasaba aquel pariente de quien Booz había hablado, y le dijo: Eh, tú, ven acá y siéntate. Y él fue y se sentó.

2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

2 Entonces él tomó a diez hombres de los ancianos de la ciudad y les dijo: Sentaos aquí. Y ellos se sentaron.

3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

3 Luego dijo al pariente: Noemí, que ha vuelto del campo de Moab, vende una parte de las tierras que tuvo nuestro hermano Elimelec.

4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

4 Y yo decidí hacértelo saber y decirte que la compres, delante de los que están aquí sentados y delante de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si quieres redimirla, redímela; y si no quieres redimirla, decláramelo para que yo lo sepa, porque no hay otro que la redima sino tú, y yo después de ti. Y él respondió: Yo la redimiré.

5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

5 Entonces replicó Booz: El mismo día que compres las tierras de mano de Noemí, has de tomar también a Rut, la moabita, esposa del difunto, para que conserves el nombre del muerto sobre su posesión.

6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

6 Y respondió el pariente: No puedo redimir para mí, no sea que perjudique mi heredad. Redime tú usando de mi derecho, porque yo no podré redimirla.

7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

7 Había ya desde antaño esta costumbre en Israel acerca de la redención o del contrato, que para la confirmación de cualquier negocio, uno se quitaba el calzado y se lo daba a su compañero; y esto servía de testimonio en Israel.

8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

8 Entonces el pariente dijo a Booz: Tómalo tú. Y se quitó el calzado.

9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

9 Y Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros sois hoy testigos de que adquiero de mano de Noemí todas las cosas que fueron de Elimelec, y todo lo que fue de Quelión y de Mahlón.

10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

10 Y que también tomo por esposa a Rut, la moabita, esposa de Mahlón, para conservar el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, para que el nombre del muerto no se borre de entre sus hermanos ni de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros sois hoy testigos.

11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth-lehem:

11 Y dijeron todos los del pueblo que estaban a la puerta con los ancianos: Testigos somos. Jehová haga a la mujer que entra en tu casa como a Raquel y a Lea, quienes edificaron la casa de Israel; y tú seas ilustre en Efrata, y tengas renombre en Belén;

12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

12 y de la descendencia que Jehová te dé de esta joven, sea tu casa como la casa de Fares, el que Tamar dio a luz a Judá.

13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

13 Booz, pues, tomó a Rut, y ella fue su esposa; y luego que se llegó a ella, Jehová le dio que concibiese, y ella dio a luz un hijo.

14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

14 Y las mujeres decían a Noemí: Loado sea Jehová, que hizo que no te faltase hoy pariente, cuyo nombre será celebrado en Israel.

15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

15 Él será restaurador de tu alma y sustentará tu vejez; pues tu nuera, que te ama y es de más valor para ti que siete hijos, lo ha dado a luz.

16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

16 Y tomando Noemí el hijo, lo puso en su regazo y fue su nodriza.

17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

17 Y las vecinas le dieron nombre, diciendo: A Noemí le ha nacido un hijo, y le llamaron Obed. Este es padre de Isaí, padre de David.

18 Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

18 Y estas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares engendró a Hezrón,

19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

19 y Hezrón engendró a Ram, y Ram engendró a Aminadab,

20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

20 y Aminadab engendró a Naasón, y Naasón engendró a Salmón,

21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

21 y Salmón engendró a Booz, y Booz engendró a Obed,

22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

22 y Obed engendró a Isaí, e Isaí engendró a David.
