1 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.

1 Y tenía Noemí un pariente de su marido, hombre de mucha riqueza de la familia de Elimelec, el cual se llamaba Booz.

2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

2 Y Rut, la moabita dijo a Noemí: Te ruego que me dejes ir al campo, y recogeré espigas en pos de aquel a cuyos ojos halle gracia. Y ella le respondió: Ve, hija mía.

3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

3 Fue, pues, y llegando, espigó en el campo en pos de los segadores; y afortunadamente aconteció que aquella parte del campo era de Booz, que era pariente de Elimelec.

4 And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

4 Y he aquí que Booz vino de Belén y dijo a los segadores: Jehová sea con vosotros. Y ellos respondieron: Jehová te bendiga.

5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

5 Y Booz dijo a su criado, el encargado de los segadores: ¿De quién es esta joven?

6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:

6 Y el criado encargado de los segadores respondió y dijo: Es la joven de Moab que volvió con Noemí de los campos de Moab,

7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

7 y me ha dicho: Te ruego que me dejes espigar y recoger tras los segadores entre las gavillas; entró, pues, y está desde por la mañana hasta ahora, menos un poco que se detuvo en casa.

8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

8 Entonces Booz dijo a Rut: Oye, hija mía, no vayas a espigar a otro campo ni pases de aquí; y aquí estarás con mis criadas.

9 Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

9 Mira bien el campo que sieguen y síguelas, porque yo he mandado a los criados que no te molesten. Y cuando tengas sed, ve a las vasijas y bebe del agua que sacan los criados.

10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

10 Ella, entonces, bajando su rostro, se inclinó a tierra y le dijo: ¿Por qué he hallado gracia ante tus ojos para que tú me reconozcas, siendo yo extranjera?

11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

11 Y respondiendo Booz, le dijo: Por cierto se me ha declarado todo lo que has hecho por tu suegra después de la muerte de tu marido, y que, dejando a tu padre y a tu madre y la tierra donde naciste, has venido a un pueblo que antes no conocías.

12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

12 Jehová recompense tu obra, y tu remuneración sea completa de parte de Jehová Dios de Israel, puesto que has venido para refugiarte bajo sus alas.

13 Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.

13 Y ella dijo: Señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de tus ojos, porque me has consolado y porque has hablado al corazón de tu sierva, aunque no soy ni como una de tus criadas.

14 And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

14 Y Booz le dijo a la hora de comer: Ven aquí, y come del pan y moja tu bocado en el vinagre. Y se sentó ella junto a los segadores, y él le dio del potaje, y comió hasta que se sació y le sobró.

15 And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:

15 Se levantó luego para espigar. Y Booz mandó a sus criados, diciendo: Que recoja también espigas entre las gavillas, y no la avergoncéis;

16 And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.

16 antes dejaréis caer a propósito de los manojos, y la dejaréis que espigue y no la reprendáis.

17 So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

17 Y espigó en el campo hasta el atardecer y desgranó lo que había recogido, y fue como un efa de cebada.

18 And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

18 Y lo tomó y se fue a la ciudad, y su suegra vio lo que había recogido. Sacó también luego lo que le había sobrado después de haberse saciado, y se lo dio.

19 And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.

19 Y le dijo su suegra: ¿Dónde has espigado hoy? ¿Y dónde has trabajado? Bendito sea el que te ha reconocido. Y ella contó a su suegra lo que le había acontecido y dijo: El nombre del varón con quien hoy he trabajado es Booz.

20 And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

20 Y dijo Noemí a su nuera: Sea él bendito de Jehová, pues no ha rehusado a los vivos la benevolencia que tuvo para con los que han muerto. Le dijo después Noemí: Nuestro pariente es aquel varón; es uno de los que pueden redimirnos.

21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.

21 Y Rut, la moabita dijo: Además de esto me ha dicho: Permanece con mis criados hasta que hayan acabado toda mi siega.

22 And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.

22 Y Noemí respondió a su nuera Rut: Mejor es, hija mía, que salgas con sus criadas, y que no te encuentren en otro campo.

23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

23 Estuvo, pues, espigando junto con las criadas de Booz hasta que se acabó la siega de la cebada y la del trigo; y vivía con su suegra.
