1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

1 Oh Dios, con nuestros oídos hemos oído, nuestros padres nos han contado la obra que hiciste en sus días, en los tiempos antiguos.

2 How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

2 Tú con tu mano echaste fuera a las naciones y los plantaste a ellos; afligiste a los pueblos y los arrojaste.

3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

3 Porque no se apoderaron de la tierra por su propia espada, ni su propio brazo los libró, sino tu diestra, y tu brazo y la luz de tu rostro, porque te complaciste en ellos.

4 Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

4 Tú, oh Dios, eres mi rey; manda salvación a Jacob.

5 Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

5 Por medio de ti embestiremos a nuestros enemigos; en tu nombre hollaremos a nuestros adversarios.

6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

6 Porque no confiaré en mi arco, ni mi espada me salvará.

7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

7 Pues tú nos has salvado de nuestros enemigos, y has avergonzado a los que nos aborrecían.

8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

8 En Dios nos gloriaremos todo el tiempo, y por siempre alabaremos tu nombre. Selah

9 But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

9 Pero nos has desechado y nos has hecho avergonzar, y ya no sales con nuestros ejércitos.

10 Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

10 Nos hiciste retroceder delante del enemigo, y nos saquean para sí los que nos aborrecen.

11 Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

11 Nos entregas como ovejas destinadas para comida, y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.

12 Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

12 Has vendido a tu pueblo de balde, y no has ganado en la venta de él.

13 Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

13 Nos has hecho objeto de oprobio de nuestros vecinos, de escarnio y de burla de los que nos rodean.

14 Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

14 Nos has puesto como proverbio entre las naciones, como motivo para menear la cabeza entre los pueblos.

15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

15 Todo el día mi ignominia está delante de mí, y me cubre la vergüenza de mi rostro

16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

16 por la voz del que vitupera y deshonra, por razón del enemigo y del vengativo.

17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

17 Todo esto nos ha sobrevenido, y no nos hemos olvidado de ti ni hemos faltado a tu convenio.

18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

18 No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, ni se han apartado nuestros pasos de tus caminos,

19 Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

19 aun cuando nos quebrantaste en el lugar de los chacales, y nos cubriste con sombra de muerte.

20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

20 Si nos hubiésemos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, o extendido nuestras manos a dios ajeno,

21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

21 ¿no lo descubriría Dios? Pues él conoce los secretos del corazón.

22 Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

22 Pero por causa de ti nos matan cada día; se nos considera como ovejas para el matadero.

23 Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

23 Despierta; ¿por qué duermes, oh Señor? Despierta; no nos rechaces para siempre.

24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

24 ¿Por qué escondes tu rostro y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción y de nuestra opresión?

25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

25 Porque nuestra alma está agobiada hasta el polvo; nuestro vientre está pegado a la tierra.

26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.

26 Levántate para ayudarnos, y redímenos por causa de tu misericordia.
