1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

1 Hijo mío, está atento a mi sabiduría, y a mi entendimiento inclina tu oído,

2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

2 para que guardes discreción, y tus labios conserven el conocimiento.

3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

3 Porque los labios de la mujer extraña destilan miel, y su paladar es más suave que el aceite;

4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

4 mas su fin es amargo como el ajenjo, agudo como espada de dos filos.

5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

5 Sus pies descienden a la muerte; sus pasos se dirigen al Seol.

6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

6 No considera el camino de la vida; sus caminos son inestables, y no lo sabe.

7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

7 Ahora pues, hijos, oídme y no os apartéis de las palabras de mi boca.

8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

8 Aleja de ella tu camino, y no te acerques a la puerta de su casa,

9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

9 para que no des a otras personas tu honor, y tus años al cruel;

10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

10 no sea que se sacien los extraños de tu fuerza, y el fruto de tus trabajos esté en casa del extranjero,

11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

11 y que gimas al final, cuando se hayan consumido tu carne y tu cuerpo,

12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

12 y digas: ¡Cómo aborrecí la instrucción, y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión!

13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

13 Y no escuché la voz de los que me instruían, ni a los que me enseñaban incliné mi oído.

14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

14 Al borde de todo mal he estado, en medio de la congregación y de la asamblea.

15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

15 Bebe el agua de tu propia cisterna y el agua que fluye de tu propio pozo.

16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

16 ¿Han de derramarse por fuera tus manantiales, y tus ríos de aguas por las plazas?

17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

17 Sean para ti solo, y no para los extraños que estén contigo.

18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

18 Sea bendita tu fuente, y regocíjate con la esposa de tu juventud.

19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

19 Como cierva amada y graciosa gacela, sus pechos te satisfagan en todo tiempo; y en su amor recréate siempre.

20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

20 ¿Y por qué, hijo mío, has de andar ciego con la mujer ajena y abrazar el seno de la mujer extraña?

21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

21 Porque los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos de Jehová, y él considera todas sus veredas.

22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

22 Apresarán al malvado sus propias iniquidades, y retenido será con las cuerdas de su pecado.

23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

23 Él morirá por falta de corrección, y errará por lo inmenso de su locura.
