1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

1 Oíd, hijos, la instrucción de un padre, y estad atentos para que conozcáis entendimiento.

2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

2 Porque os doy buena enseñanza; no abandonéis mi ley.

3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

3 Porque yo también fui hijo de mi padre, delicado y único a los ojos de mi madre.

4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

4 Y él me enseñaba y me decía: Retén mis palabras en tu corazón; guarda mis mandamientos y vivirás.

5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

5 Adquiere sabiduría; adquiere entendimiento; no te olvides ni te apartes de las palabras de mi boca;

6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

6 no la abandones; y ella te guardará; ámala, y te protegerá.

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

7 Sabiduría ante todo; adquiere sabiduría; y con todo lo que adquieras, adquiere entendimiento.

8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

8 Exáltala, y ella te levantará; ella te honrará cuando tú la hayas abrazado.

9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

9 Adorno de gracia dará a tu cabeza; corona de hermosura te entregará.

10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

10 Escucha, hijo mío, y recibe mis razones, y se te multiplicarán los años de vida.

11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.

11 Por el camino de la sabiduría te he instruido, y por sendas de rectitud te he guiado.

12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

12 En tu andar, no se obstruirán tus pasos; y si corres, no tropezarás.

13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

13 Aférrate a la instrucción; no la dejes; guárdala, porque ella es tu vida.

14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

14 No entres en la vereda de los malvados, ni vayas por el camino de los malos.

15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

15 Déjala; no pases por ella. Apártate de ella; pasa de largo.

16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

16 Porque ellos no duermen si no han hecho mal, y pierden el sueño si no han hecho caer a alguno.

17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

17 Porque comen pan de maldad y beben vino de violencias.

18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

18 Mas la senda de los justos es como la luz resplandeciente que va en aumento hasta que el día es perfecto.

19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

19 El camino de los malvados es como la oscuridad; no saben en qué tropiezan.

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

20 Hijo mío, está atento a mis palabras; inclina tu oído a mis razones.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

21 No se aparten de tus ojos; guárdalas en medio de tu corazón.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

22 Porque son vida para los que las hallan, y salud para todo su cuerpo.

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

23 Guarda tu corazón con toda diligencia, porque de él mana la vida.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

24 Aparta de ti la perversidad de la boca, y aleja de ti la iniquidad de los labios.

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

25 Miren tus ojos al frente, y diríjanse tus párpados hacia lo que está delante de ti.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

26 Examina la senda de tus pies, y sean establecidos todos tus caminos.

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

27 No te desvíes ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda; aparta tu pie del mal.
