1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

1 Palabras del rey Lemuel; la profecía que le enseñó su madre:

2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

2 ¿Qué, hijo mío? ¿Y qué, hijo de mi vientre? ¿Y qué, hijo de mis votos?

3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

3 No des a las mujeres tu fuerza, ni tus caminos a lo que destruye a los reyes.

4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

4 No es de reyes, oh Lemuel, no es de reyes beber vino, ni de príncipes, la bebida fuerte.

5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

5 No sea que bebiendo olviden lo que se ha decretado, y perviertan el derecho de todos los afligidos.

6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

6 Dad la bebida fuerte al desfallecido y el vino a los de ánimo amargado.

7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

7 Beban, y olvídense de su necesidad y no se acuerden más de su aflicción.

8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

8 Abre tu boca en favor del mudo, por los derechos de todos los desvalidos.

9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

9 Abre tu boca, juzga con justicia, y defiende la causa del pobre y del menesteroso.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

10 Mujer virtuosa, ¿quién la hallará? Porque su valor sobrepasa grandemente al de las piedras preciosas.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

11 El corazón de su marido está en ella confiado, y no carecerá de ganancias.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

12 Le da ella bien y no mal todos los días de su vida.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

13 Busca lana y lino, y con voluntad trabaja con sus manos.

14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

14 Es como nave de mercader que trae su pan desde lejos.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

15 Se levanta siendo aún de noche y da comida a su familia y tarea a sus criadas.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

16 Considera un campo y lo compra; planta viña del fruto de sus manos.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

17 Ciñe de fuerza sus lomos y fortalece sus brazos.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

18 Ve que va bien su ganancia; su lámpara no se apaga de noche.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

19 Aplica sus manos a la rueca, y sus dedos toman el huso.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

20 Extiende su mano al pobre, y tiende sus manos al menesteroso.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

21 No teme por su familia cuando nieva, porque toda su familia está vestida de ropas dobles.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

22 Ella se hace tapices; de lino fino y de púrpura es su vestido.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

23 Conocido es su marido en las puertas de la ciudad cuando se sienta con los ancianos de la tierra.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

24 Hace ropa de lino y la vende, y entrega cintos al mercader.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

25 Fuerza y honor son su vestidura, y se ríe de lo por venir.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

26 Abre su boca con sabiduría, y la ley de la clemencia está en su lengua.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

27 Considera la marcha de su casa y no come el pan de balde.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

28 Se levantan sus hijos y la llaman bienaventurada, y su marido también la alaba.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

29 Muchas mujeres han hecho el bien, mas tú las sobrepasas a todas.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

30 Engañosa es la gracia y vana la hermosura; la mujer que teme a Jehová, esa será alabada.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

31 Dadle del fruto de sus manos, y alábenla en las puertas sus hechos.
