1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

1 Hijo mío, no te olvides de mi ley, y tu corazón guarde mis mandamientos,

2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

2 porque largura de días y años de vida y paz te aumentarán.

3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

3 Nunca se aparten de ti la misericordia y la verdad; átalas a tu cuello. Escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón,

4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

4 y hallarás gracia y buena opinión ante los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

5 Confía en Jehová con todo tu corazón, y no te apoyes en tu propia prudencia.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

6 Reconócelo en todos tus caminos, y él enderezará tus veredas.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

7 No seas sabio en tu propia opinión; teme a Jehová y apártate del mal,

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

8 porque será salud para tu ombligo y médula para tus huesos.

9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

9 Honra a Jehová con tus bienes y con las primicias de todos tus frutos;

10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

10 entonces serán llenos tus graneros con abundancia, y tus lagares rebosarán de mosto.

11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

11 No rechaces, hijo mío, la disciplina de Jehová, ni te canses de su corrección,

12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

12 porque Jehová corrige al que ama, como el padre al hijo a quien quiere.

13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

13 Bienaventurado el hombre que halla la sabiduría y que adquiere entendimiento,

14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

14 porque su ganancia es mejor que la ganancia de la plata, y sus beneficios más que el oro fino.

15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

15 Más preciosa es que las piedras preciosas, y todo lo que puedas desear no se puede comparar con ella.

16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

16 Largura de días hay en su mano derecha; en su izquierda, riquezas y honra.

17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

17 Sus caminos son caminos deleitosos, y todas sus veredas, paz.

18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

18 Ella es árbol de vida a los que de ella echan mano, y bienaventurados son los que la retienen.

19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

19 Jehová con sabiduría fundó la tierra; estableció los cielos con entendimiento.

20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

20 Con su conocimiento los abismos fueron divididos, y destilan rocío las nubes.

21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

21 Hijo mío, no se aparten estas cosas de tus ojos; guarda la sana sabiduría y la cordura,

22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

22 y serán vida para tu alma y gracia para tu cuello.

23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

23 Entonces andarás por tu camino con seguridad, y tu pie no tropezará.

24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

24 Cuando te acuestes, no tendrás temor; sí, te acostarás, y tu sueño será grato.

25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

25 No tendrás temor de pavor repentino ni de la ruina de los malvados cuando llegue,

26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

26 porque Jehová será tu confianza y él evitará que tu pie caiga en la trampa.

27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

27 No te niegues a hacer el bien a quien es debido cuando esté en tu mano el hacerlo.

28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

28 No digas a tu prójimo: Vete y vuelve de nuevo, y mañana te daré, cuando tengas contigo qué darle.

29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

29 No maquines mal contra tu prójimo mientras viva confiado junto a ti.

30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

30 No contiendas con nadie sin razón si no se te ha hecho mal.

31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

31 No envidies al hombre violento ni escojas ninguno de sus caminos.

32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.

32 Porque el perverso es abominación para Jehová, mas su comunión íntima es con los justos.

33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

33 La maldición de Jehová está en la casa del malvado, mas él bendice la morada de los justos.

34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

34 Ciertamente él escarnece a los escarnecedores y a los humildes da gracia.

35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

35 Los sabios heredan la honra, mas los necios cargan con su ignominia.
