1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

1 No tengas envidia de los hombres malos ni desees estar con ellos,

2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

2 porque su corazón maquina violencia, y sus labios hablan de hacer mal.

3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

3 Con sabiduría se edificará la casa, y con entendimiento se afirmará,

4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

4 y con conocimiento se llenarán las cámaras de todo bien preciado y agradable.

5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

5 El hombre sabio es fuerte, y el hombre de conocimiento aumenta su poder.

6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

6 Porque con sabio consejo harás la guerra, y la salvación está en la multitud de consejeros.

7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

7 Demasiado alta está para el insensato la sabiduría; en la puerta no abrirá él su boca.

8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

8 Al que trama hacer el mal le llamarán hombre de malas intenciones.

9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

9 El pensamiento del necio es pecado; y abominación a los hombres es el escarnecedor.

10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

10 Si flaqueas en el día de angustia, tu fuerza es limitada.

11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;

11 Si dejas de librar a los que son llevados a la muerte y a los que son llevados al degolladero,

12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

12 si dices: He aquí, no lo supimos, ¿acaso no lo entenderá el que pesa los corazones? El que mira por tu alma, él lo conocerá y recompensará al hombre según sus obras.

13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

13 Come, hijo mío, de la miel, porque es buena; y el panal es dulce a tu paladar.

14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

14 Así será el conocimiento de la sabiduría para tu alma; si la hallas, entonces habrá un porvenir, y tu esperanza no será frustrada.

15 Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

15 Oh malvado, no aceches la morada del justo, ni saquees el lugar de su descanso,

16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

16 porque siete veces cae el justo y vuelve a levantarse, pero los malvados caerán en el mal.

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

17 Cuando caiga tu enemigo, no te regocijes; y cuando tropiece, no se alegre tu corazón,

18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

18 no sea que Jehová lo vea, y le desagrade y aparte de sobre él su enojo.

19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;

19 No te alteres a causa de los malignos, ni tengas envidia de los malvados;

20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

20 porque para el malo no habrá buen porvenir, y la lámpara de los malvados será apagada.

21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

21 Teme a Jehová, hijo mío, y al rey; no te asocies con los inestables,

22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

22 porque su desgracia llegará de repente; y la ruina de ambos, ¿quién puede saberla?

23 These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

23 También estos son dichos de los sabios: Hacer acepción de personas en el juicio no es bueno.

24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

24 Al que diga al malo: Justo eres, los pueblos le maldecirán y le detestarán las naciones.

25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

25 Pero a los que le reprendan será agradable, y sobre ellos vendrá una gran bendición.

26 Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.

26 Besados serán los labios del que responde palabras correctas.

27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

27 Prepara tu trabajo fuera, y disponlo en tu campo, y después edifica tu casa.

28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

28 No seas, sin causa, testigo contra tu prójimo, ni engañes con tus labios.

29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

29 No digas: Como me hizo, así le haré; daré el pago al hombre según su obra.

30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

30 Pasé junto al campo del hombre perezoso, y junto a la viña del hombre falto de entendimiento;

31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

31 y he aquí que por todas partes habían ya crecido espinos; ortigas habían ya cubierto su faz y su cerca de piedra estaba ya destruida.

32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

32 Y yo miré y lo puse en mi corazón; lo vi y aprendí una lección:

33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

33 Un poco de sueño, cabeceando otro poco, poniendo mano sobre mano para dormir otro poco,

34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

34 así vendrá como caminante tu pobreza, y tu necesidad como hombre armado.
