1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

1 El vino es escarnecedor, la bebida fuerte, alborotadora; y cualquiera que por su causa yerre no es sabio.

2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

2 Como rugido de león es la ira del rey; el que le hace enfurecer peca contra su propia vida.

3 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

3 Honra es del hombre dejar la contienda, pero todo insensato se enreda en ella.

4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

4 El perezoso no ara después del otoño; pedirá, pues, en la siega, y no hallará.

5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

5 Como aguas profundas es el consejo en el corazón del hombre, pero el hombre entendido lo sacará.

6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

6 Muchos hombres hay que proclaman su propia bondad, pero hombre fiel, ¿quién lo hallará?

7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

7 El justo camina en su integridad; bienaventurados son sus hijos después de él.

8 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

8 El rey que se sienta en el trono del juicio con su mirar disipa todo mal.

9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

9 ¿Quién podrá decir: Yo he limpiado mi corazón; limpio estoy de mi pecado?

10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

10 Pesa falsa y medida falsa, ambas cosas son abominación a Jehová.

11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

11 Aun el muchacho es conocido por sus hechos, si su obra es limpia y recta.

12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

12 El oído que oye y el ojo que ve, ambas cosas igualmente ha hecho Jehová.

13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

13 No ames el sueño, para que no te empobrezcas; abre tus ojos y te saciarás de pan.

14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

14 El que compra dice: Malo es, malo es; pero cuando se aparta, se jacta de la compra.

15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

15 Hay oro y multitud de piedras preciosas, mas los labios del conocimiento son joyas preciosas.

16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

16 Quítale su ropa al que salió por fiador del extraño, y toma prenda de él por la mujer extranjera.

17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

17 Sabroso es al hombre el pan de engaño, pero después su boca será llena de cascajo.

18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

18 Los planes con el consejo se establecen, y con sabia estrategia se hace la guerra.

19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

19 El que revela secretos en chismes anda; no te entrometas, pues, con el suelto de lengua.

20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

20 Al que maldice a su padre o a su madre se le apagará su lámpara en oscuridad tenebrosa.

21 An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

21 La herencia adquirida deprisa al principio no será bendecida al final.

22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

22 No digas: Devolveré el mal; espera a Jehová, y él te salvará.

23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

23 Abominación son a Jehová las pesas falsas, y la balanza falsa no es buena.

24 Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

24 De Jehová son los pasos del hombre; ¿cómo, pues, entenderá el hombre su camino?

25 It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry.

25 Trampa es para el hombre apresurarse a decir: Santo es, y después de haberlo dicho, reflexionar.

26 A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

26 El rey sabio dispersa a los malvados y sobre ellos hace rodar la rueda.

27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

27 Lámpara de Jehová es el espíritu del hombre, la cual escudriña lo más profundo del ser.

28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.

28 Misericordia y verdad guardan al rey, y con clemencia se sustenta su trono.

29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

29 La gloria de los jóvenes es su fuerza; y la hermosura de los ancianos, sus canas.

30 The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

30 Las señales de las heridas limpian del mal; y los golpes, lo más profundo del ser.
