1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

1 Hijo mío, si recibes mis palabras, y mis mandamientos atesoras dentro de ti,

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

2 dando oído a la sabiduría e inclinando tu corazón al entendimiento,

3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

3 si clamas a la inteligencia, y al entendimiento alzas tu voz,

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

4 si como a la plata la buscas, y la procuras como a tesoros escondidos,

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

5 entonces entenderás el temor de Jehová y hallarás el conocimiento de Dios.

6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

6 Porque Jehová da la sabiduría, y de su boca vienen el conocimiento y el entendimiento.

7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

7 Él reserva sana sabiduría para los rectos; es escudo para los que caminan rectamente.

8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

8 Él guarda las veredas del juicio y preserva el camino de sus santos.

9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

9 Entonces entenderás justicia, y juicio, y equidad y todo buen camino.

10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

10 Cuando la sabiduría entre en tu corazón y el conocimiento sea grato a tu alma,

11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

11 la discreción te guardará; te protegerá el conocimiento,

12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

12 para librarte del camino del mal, del hombre que habla perversidades,

13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

13 de los que abandonan las sendas rectas, para andar por caminos tenebrosos,

14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

14 que se alegran haciendo el mal, y se deleitan en las perversidades del mal,

15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

15 cuyas veredas son torcidas, y se extravían en sus caminos.

16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

16 Serás así librado de la mujer ajena, de la extraña que halaga con sus palabras,

17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

17 que abandona al compañero de su juventud, y se olvida del convenio de su Dios.

18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

18 Por lo cual, su casa está inclinada hacia la muerte, y sus veredas, hacia los muertos.

19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

19 De los que a ella se lleguen, ninguno volverá ni alcanzará los senderos de la vida.

20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

20 Así andarás por el camino de los buenos y seguirás las sendas de los justos.

21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

21 Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra, y los íntegros permanecerán en ella.

22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

22 Mas los malvados serán talados de la tierra, y los transgresores serán de ella desarraigados.
