1 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

1 ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria, toda llena de mentira y de rapiña, de incesante pillaje!

2 The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

2 Chasquido de látigo y estruendo de movimiento de ruedas; y caballo al galope y carro que salta;

3 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

3 el jinete a la carga, y resplandor de espada y brillo de lanza; y multitud de muertos y multitud de cadáveres; y cadáveres sin fin, y con los cadáveres tropezarán.

4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

4 Y esto a causa de la multitud de las fornicaciones de la ramera de hermosa gracia, maestra de brujerías, que vende a las naciones con sus fornicaciones y a las familias con sus hechicerías.

5 Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

5 Heme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos; y levantaré tus faldas hasta tu cara y mostraré a las naciones tu desnudez, y a los reinos tu vergüenza.

6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

6 Y echaré sobre ti inmundicias, y te haré despreciable y te pondré como espectáculo.

7 And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

7 Y acontecerá que todos los que te vean se apartarán de ti y dirán: ¡Nínive ha sido asolada! ¿Quién se compadecerá de ella? ¿Dónde te buscaré consoladores?

8 Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

8 ¿Eres tú mejor que Tebas, que estaba asentada entre ríos, rodeada de aguas, cuyo baluarte era el mar y el mar su muralla?

9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

9 Etiopía era su fortaleza, y Egipto, y eso sin límite; Fut y Libia estaban entre tus ayudadores.

10 Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

10 No obstante, ella fue desterrada, llevada al cautiverio; también sus niños fueron estrellados en las encrucijadas de todas las calles; y sobre sus nobles echaron suertes, y todos sus grandes fueron aprisionados con grilletes.

11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

11 Tú también quedarás embriagada; serás ocultada; tú también buscarás refugio a causa del enemigo.

12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

12 Todas tus fortalezas serán cual higueras cargadas de brevas, que, si las sacuden, caen en la boca del que las ha de comer.

13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

13 He aquí, tu pueblo será como mujeres en medio de ti; las puertas de tu tierra se abrirán de par en par a tus enemigos; fuego consumirá tus cerrojos.

14 Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brickkiln.

14 Provéete de agua para el asedio; fortifica tus fortalezas; entra en el lodo; pisa el barro; refuerza el horno.

15 There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

15 Allí te consumirá el fuego; te talará la espada. Te devorará como el pulgón. ¡Multiplícate como el pulgón! ¡Multiplícate como la langosta!

16 Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.

16 Multiplicaste tus mercaderes más que las estrellas del cielo; el pulgón hizo presa y voló.

17 Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

17 Tus príncipes serán como langostas y tus oficiales como nubes de langostas que se posan en vallados en día de frío; salido el sol se van, y no se conoce el lugar donde están.

18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

18 Durmieron tus pastores, oh rey de Asiria; reposaron tus nobles; tu pueblo se dispersó por los montes, y no hay quien lo junte.

19 There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

19 No hay curación para tu quebradura; tu herida es grave. Todos los que oigan noticias de ti batirán las palmas de las manos acerca de ti, porque, ¿sobre quién no pasó continuamente tu maldad?
