1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.

1 Ahora pues, oh sacerdotes, para vosotros es este mandamiento:

2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

2 Si no escucháis y si no decidís de corazón dar gloria a mi nombre, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, enviaré maldición sobre vosotros y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y ya las he maldecido, porque no os habéis decidido de corazón.

3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

3 He aquí, yo reprenderé a vuestra descendencia, y echaré el estiércol sobre vuestros rostros, el estiércol de los sacrificios de vuestras solemnidades; y seréis arrojados juntamente con él.

4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

4 Y sabréis que yo os envié este mandamiento para que mi convenio estuviese con Leví, ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos.

5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

5 Mi convenio con él fue de vida y de paz, lo cual yo le di por el temor con que me temió; y ante mi nombre estuvo humillado.

6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

6 La ley de la verdad estuvo en su boca, e iniquidad no fue hallada en sus labios; en paz y en rectitud anduvo conmigo, y a muchos hizo apartar de la iniquidad.

7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

7 Porque los labios del sacerdote han de guardar el conocimiento, y de su boca buscarán la ley, porque mensajero es de Jehová de los ejércitos.

8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

8 Mas vosotros os habéis apartado del camino; habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley; habéis corrompido el convenio de Leví, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

9 Por tanto, yo también os he hecho viles y bajos ante todo el pueblo, puesto que vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos y en la ley hacéis acepción de personas.

10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

10 ¿No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios? ¿Por qué actuamos pérfidamente, cada uno con su hermano, profanando el convenio de nuestros padres?

11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

11 Judá ha actuado pérfidamente, y en Israel y en Jerusalén se ha cometido abominación, porque Judá ha profanado el santuario de Jehová que él amó y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño.

12 The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.

12 Jehová talará de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que haga esto, al que vela, y al que responde y al que ofrece ofrenda a Jehová de los ejércitos.

13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

13 Y esta otra cosa hacéis: cubrís el altar de Jehová de lágrimas, de llanto y de clamor; así que no miraré más la ofrenda para aceptarla con gusto de vuestra mano.

14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

14 Mas diréis: ¿Por qué? Porque Jehová ha atestiguado entre tú y la esposa de tu juventud, con la cual tú has sido desleal, siendo ella tu compañera y la esposa de tu convenio.

15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

15 ¿Y no los hizo él uno, teniendo él un vestigio del espíritu? ¿Y por qué uno? Porque buscaba una descendencia para Dios. Cuidaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu y con la esposa de vuestra juventud no seáis desleales.

16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

16 Porque Jehová Dios de Israel ha dicho que él aborrece el repudio y al que cubre la violencia con su manto, dijo Jehová de los ejércitos. Cuidaos, pues, en vuestro espíritu y no seáis desleales.

17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

17 Habéis hecho cansar a Jehová con vuestras palabras. Y decís: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? En que decís: Todo el que hace mal es bueno ante los ojos de Jehová, y en los tales se complace; o: ¿Dónde está el Dios de la justicia?
