1 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.

1 ¡Cómo se ha oscurecido el oro! ¡Cómo ha cambiado el oro puro! Las piedras del santuario están esparcidas por las encrucijadas de todas las calles.

2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

2 Los hijos preciados de Sion, estimados más que el oro puro, ¡cómo son ahora estimados como vasijas de barro, obra de manos de alfarero!

3 Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

3 Aun los chacales amamantan a sus cachorros, pero la hija de mi pueblo es cruel como los avestruces del desierto.

4 The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.

4 La lengua del niño de pecho de sed se pegó a su paladar; los chiquitos pidieron pan, y no hubo quien se lo repartiese.

5 They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.

5 Los que comían delicados manjares quedaron desolados en las calles; los que se criaron entre carmesí abrazaron los estercoleros.

6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.

6 Y la iniquidad de la hija de mi pueblo es mayor que el pecado de Sodoma, que fue destruida en un instante y sin que pusieran manos sobre ella.

7 Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:

7 Sus nazareos fueron más puros que la nieve, más blancos que la leche; sus cuerpos, más sonrosados que el coral, su aspecto como el zafiro.

8 Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

8 Más oscuro que el hollín es su aspecto; no se los reconoce por las calles; su piel está pegada a sus huesos, seca como un palo.

9 They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

9 Más dichosos fueron los muertos a espada que los muertos por el hambre, porque estos murieron poco a poco por falta de los frutos de la tierra.

10 The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.

10 Las manos de las mujeres piadosas cocinaron a sus propios hijos, que les sirvieron de comida en la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo.

11 The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

11 Cumplió Jehová su enojo, derramó el ardor de su ira y encendió en Sion fuego que consumió hasta sus cimientos.

12 The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.

12 Nunca los reyes de la tierra, ni todos los que habitan en el mundo, hubieran creído que el enemigo y el adversario entrarían por las puertas de Jerusalén.

13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

13 Por los pecados de sus profetas y por las iniquidades de sus sacerdotes, que derramaron en medio de ella la sangre de los justos,

14 They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

14 andaban como ciegos por las calles; fueron contaminados con sangre, de modo que nadie pudiese tocar sus vestiduras.

15 They cried unto them, Depart ye; it is unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn there.

15 ¡Apartaos, impuros!, les gritaban. ¡Apartaos, apartaos! ¡No toquéis! Cuando huyeron y fueron dispersados, dijeron entre las naciones: Nunca más morarán aquí.

16 The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.

16 La presencia de Jehová los ha dispersado; no los mirará más. No respetaron la presencia de los sacerdotes ni tuvieron compasión de los ancianos.

17 As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

17 Aun han desfallecido nuestros ojos esperando en vano nuestro socorro; en nuestra esperanza hemos aguardado a una nación que no puede salvar.

18 They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

18 Acechaban nuestros pasos para que no anduviésemos por nuestras calles. Se acercó nuestro fin; se cumplieron nuestros días, porque nuestro fin había llegado.

19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

19 Más ligeros fueron nuestros perseguidores que las águilas del cielo; sobre los montes nos persiguieron; en el desierto nos pusieron emboscadas.

20 The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

20 El aliento de nuestra nariz, el ungido de Jehová, fue atrapado en sus fosos, aquel de quien habíamos dicho: A su sombra tendremos vida entre las naciones.

21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

21 Gózate y alégrate, oh hija de Edom, tú que habitas en la tierra de Uz; aun hasta ti llegará la copa; te embriagarás y te desnudarás.

22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.

22 Se ha cumplido tu castigo, oh hija de Sion; nunca más él te hará llevar cautiva. Castigará tu iniquidad, oh hija de Edom; descubrirá tus pecados.
