1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

1 Levantándose, pues, de mañana Jerobaal, el cual es Gedeón, y todo el pueblo que estaba con él, acamparon junto a la fuente de Harod; y estaba el campamento de los madianitas al norte, cerca del collado de More, en el valle.

2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

2 Y Jehová dijo a Gedeón: El pueblo que está contigo es mucho para que yo entregue a los madianitas en sus manos, no sea que se alabe Israel contra mí, diciendo: Mi propia mano me ha salvado.

3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

3 Y ahora, haz pregonar a oídos del pueblo, diciendo: El que tema y se estremezca, regrese desde el monte Galaad. Y regresaron de los del pueblo veintidós mil, y quedaron diez mil.

4 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

4 Y Jehová dijo a Gedeón: Aún es mucho el pueblo; llévalos a las aguas, y allí yo te los pondré a prueba; y del que yo te diga: Vaya este contigo, irá contigo; mas de cualquiera que yo te diga: Este no vaya contigo, ese no irá.

5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

5 Entonces Gedeón llevó el pueblo a las aguas, y Jehová dijo a Gedeón: A cualquiera que lama las aguas con su lengua como lame el perro, lo pondrás aparte; asimismo a cualquiera que se doble sobre sus rodillas para beber.

6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

6 Y fue el número de los que lamieron el agua, llevándola con la mano a la boca, trescientos hombres; pero todo el resto del pueblo se dobló sobre sus rodillas para beber las aguas.

7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

7 Entonces Jehová dijo a Gedeón: Con estos trescientos hombres que lamieron el agua os salvaré y entregaré a los madianitas en tus manos; y váyase toda la demás gente cada uno a su lugar.

8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

8 Y el pueblo tomó en sus manos provisiones y también sus trompetas. Y él envió a todos los israelitas, cada uno a su tienda, y retuvo a aquellos trescientos hombres; y estaba el campamento de Madián abajo en el valle.

9 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

9 Y aconteció que aquella misma noche Jehová le dijo: Levántate y desciende al campamento, porque yo lo he entregado en tus manos.

10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

10 Y si tienes temor de descender, baja tú al campamento con Fura, tu criado,

11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

11 y oirás lo que hablan; y entonces tus manos se fortalecerán y descenderás al campamento. Y él descendió con Fura, su criado, hasta los puestos avanzados de la gente armada que estaba en el campamento.

12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

12 Y los madianitas y los amalecitas y todos los hijos del oriente estaban tendidos en el valle, numerosos como langostas en multitud, y sus camellos eran innumerables, como la arena que está a la orilla del mar en multitud.

13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

13 Y cuando llegó Gedeón, he aquí que un hombre estaba contando a su compañero un sueño, diciendo: He aquí yo soñé un sueño: Veía un pan de cebada que rodaba hasta el campamento de Madián, y llegó a la tienda, y la golpeó de tal manera que cayó y la volcó de arriba abajo, y la tienda cayó.

14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

14 Y su compañero respondió y dijo: Esto no es otra cosa sino la espada de Gedeón hijo de Joás, varón de Israel. Dios ha entregado en sus manos a los madianitas con todo el campamento.

15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

15 Y cuando Gedeón oyó el relato del sueño y su interpretación, adoró, y volvió al campamento de Israel y dijo: Levantaos, porque Jehová ha entregado el campamento de Madián en vuestras manos.

16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.

16 Y dividió los trescientos hombres en tres escuadrones, y puso trompetas en manos de todos ellos y cántaros vacíos con antorchas ardiendo dentro de los cántaros.

17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

17 Y les dijo: Miradme a mí y haced como yo hago. He aquí que cuando yo llegue a las afueras del campamento, como yo hago, así haréis vosotros.

18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

18 Yo tocaré la trompeta y también todos los que están conmigo; y entonces vosotros también tocaréis las trompetas alrededor de todo el campamento y diréis: ¡Por Jehová y por Gedeón!

19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

19 Llegaron, pues, Gedeón y los cien hombres que estaban con él a las afueras del campamento, al principio de la guardia intermedia, cuando acababan de renovar los centinelas; y tocaron las trompetas y quebraron los cántaros que llevaban en sus manos.

20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

20 Y los tres escuadrones tocaron las trompetas y quebraron los cántaros; y sosteniendo las antorchas en la mano izquierda, y las trompetas en la mano derecha para tocarlas, gritaron: ¡La espada por Jehová y por Gedeón!

21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

21 Y permaneció cada uno en su lugar alrededor del campamento, y todos los del campamento echaron a correr y gritaron y huyeron.

22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, unto Tabbath.

22 Y los trescientos tocaban las trompetas; y Jehová puso la espada de cada uno contra su compañero en todo el campamento. Y los del campamento huyeron hasta Bet-sita, en dirección a Zerera, hasta la frontera de Abel-mehola cerca de Tabat.

23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.

23 Y se convocó a los hombres de Israel, de Neftalí, y de Aser y de todo Manasés, y persiguieron a los madianitas.

24 And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Beth-barah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Beth-barah and Jordan.

24 Gedeón también envió mensajeros por todos los montes de Efraín, diciendo: Descended al encuentro de los madianitas y tomad los vados, hasta Bet-bara y el Jordán. Y se convocó a todos los hombres de Efraín, y tomaron los vados hasta Bet-bara y el Jordán.

25 And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.

25 Y capturaron a dos príncipes de los madianitas: a Oreb y a Zeeb; y mataron a Oreb en la peña de Oreb, y a Zeeb lo mataron en el lagar de Zeeb; y después que persiguieron a los madianitas, llevaron las cabezas de Oreb y de Zeeb a Gedeón al otro lado del Jordán.
