1 And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

1 Y se convocó a los hombres de Efraín, y pasaron hacia el norte y dijeron a Jefté: ¿Por qué fuiste a hacer la guerra contra los hijos de Amón y no nos llamaste para que fuéramos contigo? Nosotros quemaremos a fuego tu casa contigo dentro.

2 And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

2 Y Jefté les respondió: Yo y mi pueblo estábamos en una gran contienda con los hijos de Amón, y os llamé, y no me defendisteis de sus manos.

3 And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

3 Viendo, pues, que no me librabais, arriesgué mi vida y fui contra los hijos de Amón, y Jehová los entregó en mis manos. ¿Por qué, pues, habéis subido hoy contra mí para pelear conmigo?

4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

4 Y reunió Jefté a todos los hombres de Galaad y peleó contra Efraín; y los de Galaad derrotaron a Efraín, porque habían dicho: Vosotros sois fugitivos de Efraín, vosotros, los galaaditas, en medio de Efraín y de Manasés.

5 And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

5 Y los galaaditas tomaron los vados del Jordán a los de Efraín. Y aconteció que cuando alguno de los fugitivos de Efraín decía: Dejadme pasar, los hombres de Galaad le preguntaban: ¿Eres tú efrateo? Si él respondía: No,

6 Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

6 entonces le decían: Ahora, pues, di Shibolet. Y él decía Sibolet, porque no podía pronunciarlo de aquella manera. Entonces le echaban mano y le degollaban junto a los vados del Jordán. Y murieron entonces de los de Efraín cuarenta y dos mil.

7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

7 Y Jefté juzgó a Israel seis años. Y murió Jefté, el galaadita, y fue sepultado en una de las ciudades de Galaad.

8 And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel.

8 Después de él juzgó a Israel Ibzán, de Belén,

9 And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

9 el cual tuvo treinta hijos y treinta hijas, a las cuales casó con gente de fuera, y tomó de fuera treinta hijas para sus hijos; y juzgó a Israel siete años.

10 Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Beth-lehem.

10 Y murió Ibzán y fue sepultado en Belén.

11 And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

11 Después de él juzgó a Israel Elón, el zabulonita, el cual juzgó a Israel diez años.

12 And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

12 Y murió Elón, el zabulonita, y fue sepultado en Ajalón, en la tierra de Zabulón.

13 And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

13 Después de él, juzgó a Israel Abdón hijo de Hilén, el piratonita.

14 And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

14 Este tuvo cuarenta hijos y treinta nietos, que cabalgaban sobre setenta asnos; y juzgó a Israel ocho años.

15 And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.

15 Y murió Abdón hijo de Hilel, el piratonita, y fue sepultado en Piratón, en la tierra de Efraín, en la región montañosa de Amalec.
