1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

1 Y aconteció que cuando Jabín rey de Hazor oyó esto, envió un mensaje a Jobab rey de Madón, y al rey de Simrón, y al rey de Acsaf,

2 And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

2 y a los reyes que estaban en la parte del norte de las montañas, y en el llano al sur de Cineret, y en los llanos, y en las regiones de Dor al occidente,

3 And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

3 y al cananeo que estaba al oriente y al occidente, y al amorreo, y al heteo, y al ferezeo, y al jebuseo en las montañas, y al heveo al pie del Hermón en la tierra de Mizpa.

4 And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

4 Estos salieron, y con ellos todos sus ejércitos, un pueblo tan numeroso como la arena que está a la orilla del mar, con gran número de caballos y carros de guerra.

5 And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

5 Todos estos reyes se reunieron y vinieron y acamparon junto a las aguas de Merom para pelear contra Israel.

6 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

6 Mas Jehová dijo a Josué: No tengas temor de ellos, porque mañana a esta hora yo entregaré muertos a todos ellos delante de Israel; a sus caballos desjarretarás, y sus carros de guerra quemarás a fuego.

7 So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

7 Y Josué, y con él todo el pueblo de guerra, fue contra ellos, y cayó de repente sobre ellos junto a las aguas de Merom.

8 And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

8 Y los entregó Jehová en manos de Israel, los cuales los hirieron y los persiguieron hasta Sidón la grande, y hasta Misrefot-maim, hasta el llano de Mizpa al oriente, hiriéndolos hasta que no les dejaron ninguno.

9 And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

9 Y Josué hizo con ellos como Jehová le había mandado: desjarretó sus caballos, y sus carros quemó con fuego.

10 And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

10 Y entonces regresó Josué, y tomó Hazor e hirió a espada a su rey, porque Hazor había sido antes cabeza de todos estos reinos.

11 And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

11 Y mataron a filo de espada todo cuanto en ella tenía vida, destruyendo todo y no dejando cosa con vida; y a Hazor prendieron fuego.

12 And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.

12 Asimismo, tomó Josué todas las ciudades de aquellos reyes y a todos los reyes de ellas, y los hirió a filo de espada, y los destruyó, como Moisés, siervo de Jehová, lo había mandado.

13 But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.

13 Pero todas las ciudades que estaban en colinas no las quemó Israel, excepto Hazor, la cual quemó Josué.

14 And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

14 Y los hijos de Israel tomaron para sí todos los despojos y las bestias de aquellas ciudades; pero a todos los hombres hirieron a filo de espada hasta destruirlos, sin dejar ninguno con vida.

15 As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

15 De la manera que Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés, su siervo, así Moisés lo mandó a Josué; y así lo hizo Josué, sin quitar palabra de todo lo que Jehová había mandado a Moisés.

16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

16 Tomó, pues, Josué toda aquella tierra, las montañas, y toda la región del sur, y toda la tierra de Gosén, y los valles, y los llanos, y las montañas de Israel, y sus valles.

17 Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

17 Desde el monte Halac, que sube hasta Seir, hasta Baal-gad en la llanura del Líbano, al pie del monte Hermón; tomó asimismo a todos sus reyes, a los cuales hirió y mató.

18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

18 Durante muchos días tuvo guerra Josué con estos reyes.

19 There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

19 No hubo ciudad que hiciese la paz con los hijos de Israel, excepto los heveos, que moraban en Gabaón; todas las demás las tomaron en batalla.

20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

20 Porque esto provenía de Jehová, que endurecía el corazón de ellos para que resistiesen con guerra a Israel, a fin de destruirlos, sin que les tuviese misericordia, sino que fuesen desarraigados, como Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés.

21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

21 También en ese tiempo Josué fue y destruyó a los anaceos de los montes de Hebrón, de Debir, de Anab, y de todos los montes de Judá, y de todos los montes de Israel. Josué los destruyó a ellos y a sus ciudades.

22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

22 Ninguno de los anaceos quedó en la tierra de los hijos de Israel; solamente quedaron en Gaza, en Gat, y en Asdod.

23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

23 Tomó, pues, Josué toda la tierra, conforme a todo lo que Jehová había dicho a Moisés; y la entregó Josué a los israelitas por heredad, conforme a la distribución de sus tribus. Y la tierra reposó de la guerra.
