1 Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

1 Y aconteció que cuando Adonisedec, rey de Jerusalén, oyó que Josué había tomado Hai, y que la había asolado (como había hecho a Jericó y a su rey, así le hizo a Hai y a su rey), y que los moradores de Gabaón habían hecho la paz con los israelitas, y que estaban entre ellos,

2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

2 tuvo gran temor, porque Gabaón era una gran ciudad, como una de las ciudades reales, y mayor que Hai, y todos sus hombres eran valientes.

3 Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

3 Envió, pues, Adonisedec, rey de Jerusalén, a decir a Hoham, rey de Hebrón, y a Piream, rey de Jarmut, y a Jafía, rey de Laquis y a Debir, rey de Eglón:

4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

4 Subid a mí, y ayudadme, y combatamos a Gabaón, porque ha hecho la paz con Josué y con los hijos de Israel.

5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

5 Y cinco reyes de los amorreos, el rey de Jerusalén, el rey de Hebrón, el rey de Jarmut, el rey de Laquis y el rey de Eglón, se juntaron y subieron, ellos con todos sus ejércitos, y acamparon frente a Gabaón, y pelearon contra ella.

6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

6 Y los hombres de Gabaón enviaron a decir a Josué al campamento en Gilgal: No retraigas tu mano de tus siervos; sube prontamente a nosotros para defendernos y ayudarnos, porque todos los reyes de los amorreos que habitan en las montañas se han unido contra nosotros.

7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

7 Y subió Josué desde Gilgal, él y todo el pueblo de guerra y todos los hombres valientes.

8 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

8 Y Jehová dijo a Josué: No tengas temor de ellos, porque yo los he entregado en tus manos, y ninguno de ellos prevalecerá delante de ti.

9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

9 Y Josué cayó sobre ellos de repente, después de haber subido toda la noche desde Gilgal.

10 And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

10 Y Jehová los turbó delante de Israel, y los hirió con gran mortandad en Gabaón; y los persiguió por el camino que sube a Bet-horón, y los hirió hasta Azeca y Maceda.

11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

11 Y sucedió que mientras iban huyendo de los israelitas, a la bajada de Bet-horón, Jehová arrojó sobre ellos grandes piedras desde el cielo, hasta Azeca, y murieron; muchos más murieron por las piedras del granizo que los que mataron los hijos de Israel a filo de espada.

12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

12 Entonces Josué habló a Jehová el día en que Jehová entregó al amorreo delante de los hijos de Israel, y dijo en presencia de los israelitas: Sol, detente en Gabaón; y tú, luna, en el valle de Ajalón.

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

13 Y el sol se detuvo y también la luna, hasta que la gente se hubo vengado de sus enemigos. ¿No está esto escrito en el libro de Jaser? Y el sol se detuvo en medio del cielo, y no se apresuró a ponerse casi un día entero.

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

14 Y nunca hubo un día como aquel, ni antes ni después, en el que Jehová haya atendido a la voz de un hombre, porque Jehová peleaba por Israel.

15 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

15 Y Josué y todo Israel con él volvieron al campamento en Gilgal.

16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.

16 Pero los cinco reyes huyeron y se escondieron en una cueva en Maceda.

17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.

17 Y le fue dicho a Josué que los cinco reyes habían sido hallados escondidos en una cueva en Maceda.

18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:

18 Entonces Josué dijo: Colocad grandes piedras a la boca de la cueva, y poned hombres junto a ella para que los vigilen;

19 And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand.

19 y vosotros no os detengáis, sino perseguid a vuestros enemigos, y atacadlos por la retaguardia, sin dejarlos entrar en sus ciudades, porque Jehová vuestro Dios los ha entregado en vuestra mano.

20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.

20 Y aconteció que cuando Josué y los hijos de Israel hubieron acabado de herirlos con mortandad muy grande, hasta destruirlos, los que quedaron de ellos entraron en las ciudades fortificadas.

21 And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

21 Y todo el pueblo volvió en paz al campamento de Josué en Maceda; y no hubo quien moviese su lengua contra los hijos de Israel.

22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.

22 Entonces dijo Josué: Abrid la boca de la cueva, y sacad de ella a esos cinco reyes.

23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

23 Y lo hicieron así, y sacaron de la cueva a aquellos cinco reyes: al rey de Jerusalén, al rey de Hebrón, al rey de Jarmut, al rey de Laquis y al rey de Eglón.

24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

24 Y sucedió que cuando hubieron llevado a esos reyes ante Josué, llamó Josué a todos los varones de Israel, y dijo a los principales de la gente de guerra que habían venido con él: Acercaos y poned vuestros pies sobre los cuellos de estos reyes. Y ellos se acercaron, y pusieron sus pies sobre los cuellos de ellos.

25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

25 Y Josué les dijo: No temáis ni os atemoricéis. Sed fuertes y valientes, porque así hará Jehová a todos vuestros enemigos contra los cuales peleáis.

26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

26 Y después de esto Josué los hirió y los mató, y los hizo colgar en cinco maderos; y quedaron colgados en los maderos hasta el atardecer.

27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.

27 Y cuando el sol se iba a poner, mandó Josué que los quitasen de los maderos, y los echasen en la cueva donde se habían escondido; y pusieron grandes piedras en la boca de la cueva, que permanecen hasta hoy.

28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.

28 En aquel mismo día tomó Josué Maceda, y la hirió a filo de espada, y mató a su rey; y los destruyó a ellos y a todo lo que en ella tenía vida, sin quedar nada; e hizo al rey de Maceda como había hecho al rey de Jericó.

29 Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:

29 Y de Maceda pasó Josué, y todo Israel con él, a Libna; y peleó contra Libna.

30 And the LORD delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.

30 Y Jehová la entregó también a ella, y a su rey, en manos de Israel; y la hirió a filo de espada, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, sin quedar nada. E hizo a su rey como había hecho al rey de Jericó.

31 And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:

31 Y Josué, y todo Israel con él, pasó de Libna a Laquis, y la sitiaron y combatieron contra ella.

32 And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

32 Y Jehová entregó Laquis en manos de Israel, y la tomó al día siguiente, y la hirió a filo de espada, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, como había hecho en Libna.

33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

33 Entonces Horam, rey de Gezer, subió en ayuda de Laquis; mas a él y a su pueblo hirió Josué, hasta no quedar ninguno de ellos.

34 And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:

34 De Laquis pasó Josué, y todo Israel con él, a Eglón; y la sitiaron y combatieron contra ella.

35 And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

35 Y la tomaron el mismo día, y la hirieron a filo de espada; y aquel día mató a todo lo que en ella tenía vida, como había hecho en Laquis.

36 And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:

36 Subió luego Josué, y todo Israel con él, de Eglón a Hebrón, y la atacaron.

37 And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.

37 Y tomándola, la hirieron a filo de espada, a su rey y a todas sus ciudades, con todo lo que en ella tenía vida, sin quedar nada, como habían hecho a Eglón; así la destruyeron con todo lo que en ella tenía vida.

38 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:

38 Y volvió Josué, y todo Israel con él, a Debir, y la atacó;

39 And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.

39 y la tomó, con su rey y con todas sus villas; y las hirieron a filo de espada, y destruyeron todo lo que allí dentro tenía vida, sin quedar nada; como había hecho a Hebrón, y como había hecho a Libna y a su rey, así hizo a Debir y a su rey.

40 So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.

40 Conquistó, pues, Josué toda la región de las montañas, y del sur, y de los llanos, y de las laderas, y a todos sus reyes, sin dejar nada; mató todo lo que tenía vida, tal como Jehová Dios de Israel lo había mandado.

41 And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.

41 Y los derrotó Josué desde Cades-barnea hasta Gaza, y toda la tierra de Gosén hasta Gabaón.

42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.

42 A todos estos reyes y sus tierras los tomó Josué de una vez, porque Jehová el Dios de Israel peleaba por Israel.

43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

43 Y regresó Josué, y todo Israel con él, al campamento en Gilgal.
