1 Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

1 Ahora pues, da voces. ¿Habrá quien te responda? ¿Y a cuál de los santos te volverás?

2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

2 Es cierto que al necio la ira lo mata, y al codicioso lo consume la envidia.

3 I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

3 Yo he visto al necio que echaba raíces, y en esa misma hora maldije su habitación.

4 His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

4 Sus hijos estarán lejos de toda seguridad; y en la puerta serán quebrantados, y no habrá quien los libre.

5 Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

5 Su mies comerán los hambrientos y la sacarán de entre las espinas; y los sedientos beberán su hacienda.

6 Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

6 Porque la aflicción no sale del polvo, ni el sufrimiento brota de la tierra.

7 Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

7 Pero como las chispas se levantan para volar por el aire, así el hombre nace para la aflicción.

8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

8 Ciertamente yo buscaría a Dios y le encomendaría mi causa;

9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

9 Él hace cosas grandes e inescrutables, y maravillas sin número;

10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

10 él da la lluvia sobre la faz de la tierra y envía las aguas sobre los campos;

11 To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

11 él pone en alto a los humildes y da seguridad a los enlutados;

12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

12 él frustra los pensamientos de los astutos, para que sus manos no prosperen;

13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

13 él prende a los sabios en su propia astucia, y el consejo de los perversos es malogrado.

14 They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

14 De día estos se topan con tinieblas y a mediodía andan a tientas como de noche.

15 But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

15 Así él libra al pobre de la espada, de la boca y de la mano del poderoso.

16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

16 Así habrá esperanza para el menesteroso, y la injusticia cerrará la boca.

17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

17 He aquí, bienaventurado es el hombre a quien Dios corrige; por tanto, no menosprecies la corrección del Todopoderoso.

18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

18 Porque él lastima, pero él venda; él hiere, pero sus manos curan.

19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

19 De seis tribulaciones te librará, y en la séptima no te tocará el mal.

20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

20 En el hambre te rescatará de la muerte, y en la guerra, de manos de la espada.

21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

21 Del azote de la lengua serás protegido y no temerás la destrucción cuando venga.

22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

22 De la destrucción y del hambre te reirás y no temerás a las fieras del campo,

23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

23 pues aun con las piedras del campo tendrás alianza, y las fieras del campo estarán en paz contigo.

24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

24 Y sabrás que hay paz en tu tienda; y visitarás tu morada, y nada te faltará.

25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

25 Asimismo sabrás que tu descendencia es mucha, y tu prole es como la hierba de la tierra.

26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

26 Y llegarás con vigor a la sepultura, como la gavilla de trigo que se recoge a su tiempo.

27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

27 He aquí, lo que hemos inquirido, y así es; óyelo y conócelo para tu bien.
