1 Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

1 Por tanto, Job, oye ahora mis razones, y escucha todas mis palabras.

2 Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.

2 He aquí, he abierto ahora mi boca, y mi lengua hablará en mi boca.

3 My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.

3 Mis razones provendrán de la rectitud de mi corazón, y lo que saben mis labios lo hablarán con sinceridad.

4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

4 El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y el soplo del Omnipotente me dio vida.

5 If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

5 Si puedes, contradíceme; dispón tus palabras; ponte de pie delante de mí.

6 Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

6 Heme aquí, conforme a tu dicho, como tú, ante Dios; de barro fui yo también formado.

7 Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.

7 He aquí que mi terror no te espantará, ni mi mano será pesada sobre ti.

8 Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

8 Ciertamente tú dijiste a oídos míos, y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:

9 I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

9 Yo soy limpio y sin transgresión; soy inocente, y no hay iniquidad en mí.

10 Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,

10 He aquí que él halla motivos de queja contra mí; me tiene por su enemigo;

11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

11 pone mis pies en el cepo; vigila todas mis sendas.

12 Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

12 He aquí, en esto no has sido justo; yo te respondo que Dios es mayor que el hombre.

13 Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

13 ¿Por qué contiendes contra él? Porque él no da cuenta de ninguna de sus razones.

14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

14 Sin embargo, Dios habla una y otra vez, pero el hombre no lo percibe.

15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

15 En sueños, en visión nocturna, cuando el sueño profundo cae sobre los hombres, cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho,

16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

16 entonces revela al oído de los hombres y les confirma su instrucción,

17 That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

17 para apartar al hombre de lo que hace, y alejar del hombre la soberbia.

18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

18 Librará su alma de la fosa, y su vida de perecer a espada.

19 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

19 También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor constante en todos sus huesos,

20 So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

20 que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan y su alma la comida exquisita.

21 His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

21 Su carne desaparece de la vista, y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.

22 Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

22 Y su alma se acerca a la fosa, y su vida a los que causan la muerte.

23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

23 Si tuviera cerca de él un ángel, un mediador, uno entre mil, para anunciar al hombre lo que es recto,

24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

24 para decirle que Dios tiene misericordia de él, que lo libra de descender a la fosa, que le ha hallado redención.

25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:

25 Su carne será más tierna que la de un niño, y volverá a los días de su juventud.

26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

26 Orará a Dios, y este le favorecerá; y verá su faz con júbilo, y él restituirá al hombre su justicia.

27 He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

27 Él mira sobre los hombres; y al que diga: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, y no me ha aprovechado,

28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

28 Dios redimirá su alma para que no descienda a la fosa, y su vida verá la luz.

29 Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,

29 He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre,

30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

30 para rescatar su alma de la fosa y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.

31 Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.

31 Escucha, Job, óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré.

32 If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.

32 Si tienes razones, respóndeme; habla, porque yo quiero justificarte.

33 If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.

33 Y si no, escúchame tú a mí; calla, y te enseñaré sabiduría.
