1 Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?

1 Puesto que no son ocultos los tiempos al Todopoderoso, ¿por qué los que le conocen no ven sus días?

2 Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.

2 Mueven los linderos, roban los rebaños y los apacientan.

3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

3 Se llevan el asno de los huérfanos; toman en prenda el buey de la viuda.

4 They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.

4 Hacen apartar del camino a los menesterosos, y los pobres de la tierra se esconden juntamente.

5 Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.

5 He aquí, como asnos monteses en el desierto, salen a su obra madrugando en busca de presa; el desierto les da el sustento de sus hijos.

6 They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.

6 En el campo siegan su pasto, y vendimian la viña del malvado.

7 They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.

7 Al desnudo hacen dormir sin ropa y sin cobertura en el frío.

8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.

8 Con las lluvias de los montes se mojan, y abrazan las peñas por falta de abrigo.

9 They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.

9 Quitan del pecho a los huérfanos, y del pobre toman prenda.

10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;

10 Al desnudo hacen andar sin vestido, y a los hambrientos quitan las gavillas.

11 Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.

11 Dentro de sus paredes exprimen el aceite; pisan los lagares, pero pasan sed.

12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.

12 Desde la ciudad gimen los hombres, y claman las almas de los heridos, pero Dios no atribuye yerro.

13 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.

13 Ellos son los que, rebeldes a la luz, no conocen sus caminos, ni permanecen en sus sendas.

14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.

14 A la luz se levanta el asesino, mata al pobre y al necesitado, y de noche es como ladrón.

15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.

15 El ojo del adúltero está aguardando el crepúsculo, diciendo: No me verá nadie, y oculta su rostro.

16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.

16 En las tinieblas minan las casas que de día para sí señalaron; no conocen la luz.

17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.

17 Porque la mañana es para todos ellos como sombra de muerte; si son reconocidos, terrores de sombra de muerte les sobrevienen.

18 He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.

18 Ligero es él sobre la faz de las aguas; maldita en la tierra es la porción de ellos; él no vuelve al camino de las viñas.

19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.

19 La sequía y el calor arrebatan las aguas de la nieve, así también el Seol a los pecadores.

20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.

20 Se olvidará de ellos el seno materno; de ellos sentirán los gusanos dulzura; nunca más habrá de ellos memoria; y como un árbol será quebrantada la injusticia.

21 He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.

21 Aflige a la mujer estéril que no concibe, y a la viuda nunca hace bien.

22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.

22 También a los fuertes arrastra con su poder. Se levanta, y nadie está seguro de su vida.

23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.

23 Él le da seguridad, y se sostiene; sus ojos están sobre los caminos de ellos.

24 They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.

24 Son enaltecidos por poco tiempo, pero desaparecen; son abatidos como todos los demás; son encerrados y cortados como cabezas de espigas.

25 And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?

25 Y si no, ¿quién me desmentirá ahora y reducirá a nada mis palabras?
