1 Then Job answered and said,

1 Y respondió Job y dijo:

2 Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

2 Hoy también es amarga mi queja; mi mano es pesada por mi gemido.

3 Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!

3 ¡Quién me diera el saber dónde hallarle! Yo iría hasta su trono.

4 I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

4 Expondría mi causa delante de él, y llenaría mi boca de argumentos.

5 I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

5 Yo sabría las palabras que él me respondiera, y entendería lo que me dijera.

6 Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.

6 ¿Contendería conmigo con grandeza de fuerza? No, sino que él la pondría en mí.

7 There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

7 Allí el justo razonaría con él, y yo escaparía para siempre de mi juez.

8 Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

8 He aquí, yo iré al oriente y no lo hallaré; y al occidente, y no lo percibiré.

9 On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

9 Cuando él actúe al norte, yo no le veré; al sur se esconderá, y no le veré.

10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

10 Mas él conoce mi camino; cuando me haya probado, saldré como oro.

11 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

11 Mis pies han seguido sus pisadas; guardé su camino y no me aparté.

12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

12 Del mandamiento de sus labios nunca me he separado; he atesorado las palabras de su boca más que mi porción señalada.

13 But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

13 Pero él es uno en propósito, ¿y quién le hará cambiar? Lo que su alma desea, lo hace.

14 For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

14 Él, pues, acabará lo que ha determinado para mí; y muchas cosas como estas tiene él.

15 Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

15 Por lo cual, yo me turbo en su presencia; cuando lo considero, tiemblo a causa de él.

16 For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:

16 Dios ha hecho desfallecer mi corazón, y me ha turbado el Omnipotente.

17 Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.

17 Porque no fui aniquilado delante de las tinieblas, ni cubrió de mi rostro la oscuridad.
