1 And Job answered and said,

1 Y respondió Job y dijo:

2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

2 En verdad que vosotros sois el pueblo, y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.

3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

3 También tengo yo entendimiento como vosotros; no soy yo menos que vosotros. ¿Y quién habrá que no pueda decir otro tanto?

4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

4 Yo soy uno de quien su amigo se mofa, que invoca a Dios, y él le responde; uno justo y perfecto que es escarnecido.

5 He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

5 Aquel cuyos pies van a resbalar es como una lámpara despreciada por aquel que está a sus anchas.

6 The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

6 Prosperan las tiendas de los ladrones, y los que provocan a Dios viven seguros, en cuyas manos él ha puesto cuanto tienen.

7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

7 Y, en efecto, pregunta ahora a las bestias, y ellas te enseñarán; y a las aves de los cielos, y ellas te lo mostrarán;

8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

8 o habla a la tierra y ella te enseñará; los peces del mar te lo declararán también.

9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

9 ¿Cuál entre todos ellos no entiende que la mano de Jehová lo hizo?

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

10 En sus manos está el alma de todo lo viviente y el espíritu de todo el género humano.

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

11 ¿No distingue el oído las palabras, y el paladar saborea las viandas?

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

12 En los ancianos está la sabiduría; y en la larga edad, el entendimiento.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

13 Con Dios están la sabiduría y el poder; suyos son el consejo y el entendimiento.

14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

14 He aquí, él derriba, y no se reedifica; encierra al hombre, y no hay quien le abra.

15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

15 He aquí, él detiene las aguas, y se secan; él las envía, y arrasan la tierra.

16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

16 Con él están el poder y la prudencia; suyos son el que yerra y el que hace errar.

17 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

17 Él hace andar descalzos a los consejeros, y entontece a los jueces.

18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

18 Él rompe las cadenas de los reyes y ata un cinto a sus lomos.

19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

19 Él lleva despojados a los sacerdotes, y derroca a los poderosos.

20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

20 Él silencia los labios de los que dicen verdad, y quita a los ancianos el discernimiento.

21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

21 Él derrama menosprecio sobre los príncipes, y afloja el cinto de los fuertes.

22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

22 Él descubre lo profundo de las tinieblas, y saca a la luz la sombra de muerte.

23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

23 Él multiplica las naciones y él las destruye; él dispersa las naciones y las vuelve a reunir.

24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

24 Él quita el entendimiento a los jefes del pueblo de la tierra, y los hace vagar por un yermo sin camino.

25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

25 Van a tientas, como en tinieblas y sin luz, y los hace tambalear como borrachos.
