1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

1 ¡Oh, si mi cabeza fuera agua y mis ojos fuente de lágrimas, para llorar día y noche por los muertos de la hija de mi pueblo!

2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

2 ¡Oh, quién me diese en el desierto un albergue de caminantes, para que dejase a mi pueblo y de ellos me apartase! Porque todos ellos son adúlteros, asamblea de traidores.

3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

3 Y tensaron su lengua como arco para lanzar mentira; y no se fortalecieron para la verdad en la tierra, porque de mal en mal procedieron y no me conocen, dice Jehová.

4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

4 Guárdese cada uno de su prójimo y en ningún hermano tenga confianza, porque todo hermano engaña con falacia, y todo prójimo anda calumniando.

5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

5 Y cada uno engaña a su prójimo, y ninguno dice la verdad; enseñaron a su lengua a decir mentiras; cometen iniquidad hasta el cansancio.

6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.

6 Tu morada está en medio del engaño; a causa del engaño, no quisieron conocerme, dice Jehová.

7 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

7 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo los refinaré y los probaré, porque, ¿qué más he de hacer por la hija de mi pueblo?

8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

8 Saeta mortífera es la lengua de ellos; engaño habla; con su boca habla paz a su amigo, pero dentro de sí le tiende emboscada.

9 Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

9 ¿No los he de castigar por estas cosas?, dice Jehová. De tal nación, ¿no se vengará mi alma?

10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.

10 Por los montes levantaré lloro, y llanto y lamentación por los pastizales del desierto, porque han sido desolados hasta no quedar quien pase, ni oírse el bramido del ganado; desde las aves del cielo hasta las bestias de la tierra huyeron; se han ido.

11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

11 Reduciré a Jerusalén a un montón de ruinas, a una guarida de chacales, y convertiré las ciudades de Judá en una desolación donde no quede morador.

12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

12 ¿Quién es el hombre sabio que entienda esto? ¿Y a quién habló la boca de Jehová, para que pueda declararlo? ¿Por qué causa la tierra ha perecido y ha sido asolada como un desierto, hasta no haber quien pase por ella?

13 And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;

13 Y dice Jehová: Porque dejaron mi ley, la cual di delante de ellos, y no obedecieron mi voz ni caminaron conforme a ella,

14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

14 sino que se fueron tras la obstinación de su corazón y en pos de los baales, según les enseñaron sus padres.

15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

15 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí que a este pueblo yo les daré a comer ajenjo y les daré a beber agua de hiel.

16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

16 Y los esparciré entre naciones que no conocieron ellos ni sus padres; y enviaré espada en pos de ellos, hasta que yo los acabe.

17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:

17 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Considerad y llamad plañideras que vengan; y enviad por las hábiles para que vengan;

18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

18 y dense prisa y levanten llanto por nosotros, y corran lágrimas de nuestros ojos, y nuestros párpados destilen agua.

19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.

19 Porque voz de lamentación se oye desde Sion: ¡Cómo hemos sido destruidos! En gran manera hemos sido avergonzados, porque hemos abandonado la tierra, porque han derribado nuestras moradas.

20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.

20 Oíd, pues, oh mujeres, la palabra de Jehová, y vuestro oído reciba la palabra de su boca; y enseñad endechas a vuestras hijas y cada una a su amiga lamentos.

21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

21 Porque la muerte ha subido por nuestras ventanas y ha entrado en nuestros palacios, para talar a los niños de las calles, a los jóvenes de las plazas.

22 Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.

22 Di: Así dice Jehová: Los cuerpos de los hombres muertos caerán como estiércol sobre la faz del campo y como manojos tras el segador, y no hay quien los recoja.

23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

23 Así dice Jehová: No se alabe el sabio en su propia sabiduría, ni en su propia valentía se alabe el valiente, ni el rico se alabe en sus propias riquezas.

24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

24 Mas alábese en esto el que haya de alabarse: en entenderme y conocerme, que yo soy Jehová, que hago misericordia, juicio y justicia en la tierra, porque en estas cosas me deleito, dice Jehová.

25 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

25 He aquí que vienen días, dice Jehová, en que castigaré a todo circuncidado y a todo incircunciso:

26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.

26 a Egipto, y a Judá, y a Edom, y a los hijos de Amón y de Moab, y a todos los que están en los extremos más remotos, que moran en el desierto, porque todas las naciones son incircuncisas, y toda la casa de Israel es incircuncisa de corazón.
