1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

1 Recorred las calles de Jerusalén, y mirad ahora, y sabed y buscad en sus plazas a ver si halláis un solo hombre, si hay alguno que haga justicia, que busque la verdad, y yo la perdonaré.

2 And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.

2 Y aunque digan: Vive Jehová, de cierto juran falsamente.

3 O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

3 Oh Jehová, ¿no miran tus ojos la verdad? Los azotaste, y no les dolió; los consumiste, y no quisieron recibir corrección; endurecieron sus rostros más que la piedra y no quisieron volverse.

4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

4 Pero yo dije: De cierto ellos son pobres, son necios, pues no conocen el camino de Jehová, el juicio de su Dios.

5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

5 Iré a los grandes y les hablaré, porque ellos han conocido el camino de Jehová, el juicio de su Dios. Pero ellos también quebraron el yugo, rompieron las coyundas.

6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

6 Por tanto, el león del bosque los matará, los destruirá el lobo del desierto, el leopardo acechará sus ciudades; cualquiera que de ellas salga será despedazado, porque sus transgresiones se han multiplicado; se han aumentado sus rebeldías.

7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

7 ¿Cómo te he de perdonar por esto? Tus hijos me abandonaron y juraron por lo que no es Dios. Los sacié y cometieron adulterio, y a casa de rameras fueron en tropel.

8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.

8 Como caballos bien alimentados y fogosos, cada cual relinchaba tras la esposa de su prójimo.

9 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

9 ¿No había de castigar esto?, dice Jehová. De una nación como esta, ¿no se había de vengar mi alma?

10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.

10 Escalad sus muros y destruid, pero no del todo; quitad las almenas de sus muros, porque no son de Jehová.

11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

11 Porque resueltamente me han traicionado la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá, dice Jehová.

12 They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

12 Negaron a Jehová y dijeron: Él no existe, y no vendrá mal sobre nosotros ni veremos espada ni hambre;

13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

13 y los profetas serán como el viento, y la palabra no está en ellos; así se hará a ellos.

14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

14 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos: Porque hablasteis esta palabra, he aquí, yo pongo en tu boca mis palabras como fuego, y a los de este pueblo como leña, y los consumirá.

15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

15 He aquí, yo traigo sobre vosotros gente de lejos, oh casa de Israel, dice Jehová; gente robusta, gente antigua, gente cuya lengua ignoras y no entenderás lo que hable.

16 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.

16 Su aljaba es como sepulcro abierto; todos son valientes.

17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

17 Y comerá tu mies y tu pan; comerá a tus hijos y a tus hijas; comerá tus ovejas y tus vacas; comerá tus viñas y tus higueras; y a espada convertirá en nada tus ciudades fortificadas en las que tú confías.

18 Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

18 No obstante, en aquellos días, dice Jehová, no os destruiré del todo.

19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

19 Y acontecerá que cuando digan: ¿Por qué ha hecho Jehová nuestro Dios con nosotros todas estas cosas?, entonces les dirás: De la manera que me dejasteis a mí y servisteis a dioses ajenos en vuestra tierra, así serviréis a extraños en una tierra que no es vuestra.

20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

20 Anunciad esto en la casa de Jacob y haced que esto se oiga en Judá, diciendo:

21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

21 Oíd ahora esto, pueblo necio y sin corazón, que tiene ojos y no ve, que tiene oídos y no oye.

22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

22 ¿A mí no me temeréis?, dice Jehová. ¿No temblaréis ante mi presencia, yo, que puse la arena por límite al mar, por estatuto eterno el cual no será traspasado? Y se levantarán las olas, mas no prevalecerán; bramarán, mas no lo traspasarán.

23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

23 Pero este pueblo tiene corazón terco y rebelde; se apartaron y se fueron.

24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

24 Y no dijeron en su corazón: Temamos ahora a Jehová nuestro Dios, que da lluvia temprana y tardía a su tiempo, y nos guarda los tiempos establecidos de la siega.

25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

25 Vuestras iniquidades han alejado estas cosas, y vuestros pecados han apartado de vosotros el bien.

26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

26 Porque se encuentran malvados en mi pueblo; acechan como quien tiende lazos; ponen trampas para cazar hombres.

27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

27 Como jaula llena de pájaros, así están sus casas llenas de engaño; así se han hecho poderosos y ricos.

28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

28 Han engordado y se han puesto lustrosos, y sobrepasan los hechos del malo; no abogan por la causa, la causa del huérfano; se han hecho prósperos y no defienden la causa de los pobres.

29 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

29 ¿No he de castigar esto?, dice Jehová; ¿y de tal nación no se vengará mi alma?

30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

30 Cosa espantosa y fea es hecha en esta tierra:

31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

31 los profetas profetizan mentira, y los sacerdotes gobiernan por manos de ellos; y mi pueblo así lo quiere. ¿Qué, pues, haréis cuando llegue el fin?
