1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

1 La palabra que vino a Jeremías acerca de todos los judíos que moraban en la tierra de Egipto, que vivían en Migdol, y en Tafnes, y en Menfis y en la tierra de Patros, diciendo:

2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

2 Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Vosotros habéis visto todo el mal que traje sobre Jerusalén y sobre todas las ciudades de Judá; y he aquí que ellas están el día de hoy asoladas, y no hay quien more en ellas

3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

3 a causa de la maldad que ellos cometieron para hacerme enojar, yendo a quemar incienso, sirviendo a dioses ajenos que ellos no habían conocido, ni ellos, ni vosotros ni vuestros padres.

4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

4 Y envié a vosotros a todos mis siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviándolos, para deciros: No hagáis ahora esta cosa abominable que yo aborrezco.

5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

5 Pero no escucharon ni inclinaron su oído para volverse de su maldad, para dejar de quemar incienso a dioses ajenos.

6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

6 Se derramó, por tanto, mi ira y mi furor, y se encendió en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén; y quedaron en ruinas y en desolación, como lo están hoy.

7 Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;

7 Ahora pues, así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: ¿Por qué hacéis un mal tan grande contra vuestras almas, para ser talados el hombre y la mujer, el muchacho y el niño de pecho, de en medio de Judá, sin que os quede remanente alguno,

8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

8 haciéndome enojar con las obras de vuestras manos, ofreciendo incienso a dioses ajenos en la tierra de Egipto, adonde habéis entrado para peregrinar, de suerte que os desarraiguéis y seáis objeto de maldición y de oprobio a todas las naciones de la tierra?

9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

9 ¿Os habéis olvidado de las maldades de vuestros padres, y de las maldades de los reyes de Judá, y de las maldades de sus esposas, y de vuestras propias maldades y de las maldades de vuestras esposas, que hicieron en la tierra de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén?

10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

10 No se han humillado hasta el día de hoy, ni han tenido temor, ni han caminado en mi ley ni en mis estatutos, los cuales puse delante de vosotros y delante de vuestros padres.

11 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.

11 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo pongo mi rostro contra vosotros para mal y para desarraigar a todo Judá.

12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

12 Y tomaré a los del remanente de Judá que fijaron sus rostros para entrar en la tierra de Egipto a fin de peregrinar allí, y serán todos consumidos y caerán en la tierra de Egipto; serán consumidos por la espada y por el hambre; por la espada y por el hambre morirán desde el menor hasta el mayor, y serán motivo de execración, y de espanto, y de maldición y de oprobio.

13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

13 Pues castigaré a los que moran en la tierra de Egipto, como castigué a Jerusalén, con espada, con hambre y con pestilencia.

14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.

14 Y del resto de los de Judá que entraron en la tierra de Egipto para peregrinar allá, no habrá quien escape ni quien quede vivo para volver a la tierra de Judá, a la cual suspiran ellos por volver para habitar allí; porque no volverán sino solo los que escapen.

15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

15 Entonces todos los que sabían que sus esposas habían quemado incienso a dioses ajenos, y todas las mujeres que estaban presentes, una gran concurrencia, y todo el pueblo que habitaba en la tierra de Egipto, en Patros, respondieron a Jeremías, diciendo:

16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

16 La palabra que nos has hablado en nombre de Jehová no la escucharemos de ti,

17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

17 sino que ciertamente pondremos por obra toda palabra que ha salido de nuestra propia boca, para quemar incienso a la reina del cielo y derramarle libaciones, como hemos hecho nosotros, nosotros y nuestros padres, nuestros reyes y nuestros jefes, en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén; pues fuimos saciados de pan, y estuvimos bien y no vimos mal alguno.

18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

18 Pero desde que dejamos de quemar incienso a la reina del cielo y de derramarle libaciones, nos falta de todo, y por la espada y por el hambre somos consumidos.

19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

19 Y cuando quemamos incienso a la reina del cielo y le derramamos libaciones, ¿acaso le hicimos nosotras tortas para tributarle culto, y le derramamos libaciones sin el consentimiento de nuestros maridos?

20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

20 Y habló Jeremías a todo el pueblo, a los hombres y a las mujeres, y a todo el pueblo que le había respondido esto, diciendo:

21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

21 ¿No se ha acordado Jehová, y no ha venido a su memoria el incienso que quemasteis en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, vosotros y vuestros padres, vuestros reyes, y vuestros jefes y el pueblo de la tierra?

22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

22 Y no pudo soportarlo más Jehová a causa de la maldad de vuestras obras, a causa de las abominaciones que habíais hecho; por tanto, vuestra tierra está en desolación, y en espanto y en maldición, hasta quedar sin morador, como lo está hoy.

23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

23 Porque quemasteis incienso y pecasteis contra Jehová, y no obedecisteis la voz de Jehová ni anduvisteis en su ley, ni en sus estatutos ni en sus testimonios; por tanto, ha venido sobre vosotros este mal, como hasta hoy.

24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:

24 Y dijo Jeremías a todo el pueblo y a todas las mujeres: Oíd la palabra de Jehová, todos los de Judá que estáis en la tierra de Egipto:

25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

25 Así ha hablado Jehová de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, diciendo: Vosotros y vuestras esposas hablasteis con vuestras bocas y con vuestras manos lo realizasteis, diciendo: Ciertamente cumpliremos nuestros votos que hicimos de ofrecer incienso a la reina del cielo y de derramarle libaciones; en verdad confirmáis vuestros votos y ponéis vuestros votos por obra.

26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

26 Por tanto, oíd la palabra de Jehová, todos los de Judá que habitáis en la tierra de Egipto: He aquí, he jurado por mi gran nombre, dice Jehová, que mi nombre no será más invocado en toda la tierra de Egipto por boca de ningún hombre de Judá, diciendo: Vive Jehová el Señor.

27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

27 He aquí que yo vigilo sobre ellos para mal y no para bien; y todos los hombres de Judá que están en la tierra de Egipto serán consumidos por la espada y por el hambre, hasta que perezcan del todo.

28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.

28 Y los que escapen de la espada volverán de la tierra de Egipto a la tierra de Judá, pocos hombres en número. Y todo el remanente de Judá que ha entrado en la tierra de Egipto a morar allí sabrá de quién es la palabra que ha de permanecer: si la mía o la suya.

29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:

29 Y esto tendréis por señal, dice Jehová, de que en este lugar os castigaré, para que sepáis que ciertamente permanecerán mis palabras para mal sobre vosotros.

30 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.

30 Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo entrego a Faraón Hofra, rey de Egipto, en manos de sus enemigos y en manos de los que buscan su vida, como entregué a Sedequías, rey de Judá, en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, su enemigo que buscaba su vida.
