1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.

1 Si te has de volver, oh Israel, dice Jehová, vuélvete a mí. Y si quitas de delante de mí tus abominaciones y no andas de acá para allá,

2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

2 y si juras con verdad, con juicio y con justicia, diciendo: Vive Jehová, entonces las naciones serán benditas en él, y en él se gloriarán.

3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

3 Porque así dice Jehová a todo hombre de Judá y de Jerusalén: Arad campo para vosotros y no sembréis entre espinos.

4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

4 Circuncidaos para Jehová y quitad el prepucio de vuestro corazón, hombres de Judá y moradores de Jerusalén, no sea que mi ira salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien la apague, por la maldad de vuestras obras.

5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.

5 Anunciad en Judá, y proclamad en Jerusalén y decid: Tocad trompeta en la tierra. Pregonad y decid: Reuníos, y entremos en las ciudades fortificadas.

6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.

6 Alzad bandera hacia Sion, buscad refugio, no os detengáis, porque yo hago venir del norte mal y quebrantamiento grande.

7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

7 El león sube de la espesura, el destructor de naciones está en marcha; ha salido de su lugar para poner tu tierra en desolación; tus ciudades quedarán asoladas y sin morador.

8 For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

8 Por esto vestíos de cilicio, lamentaos y aullad, porque la ardiente ira de Jehová no se ha apartado de nosotros.

9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.

9 Y acontecerá en aquel día, dice Jehová, que desfallecerá el corazón del rey y el corazón de los príncipes; y los sacerdotes estarán atónitos, y se consternarán los profetas.

10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.

10 Y dije: ¡Ay, Jehová Dios! Verdaderamente en gran manera has engañado a este pueblo y a Jerusalén, diciendo: Paz tendréis, pues la espada ha entrado hasta el alma.

11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

11 En aquel tiempo se dirá a este pueblo y a Jerusalén: Un viento abrasador de las alturas del desierto viene a la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar ni para limpiar.

12 Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.

12 Un viento más fuerte que este vendrá a mí; y ahora yo pronunciaré juicios contra ellos.

13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

13 He aquí que subirá como las nubes, y sus carros como torbellino; más ligeros son sus caballos que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque dados somos al despojo!

14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

14 Lava maldad tu corazón de la maldad, oh Jerusalén, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo albergarás en medio de ti los pensamientos de iniquidad?

15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.

15 Porque una voz trae las nuevas desde Dan y hace oír la calamidad desde los montes de Efraín.

16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.

16 Decid a las naciones; he aquí, haced oír sobre Jerusalén: Sitiadores vienen de tierra lejana y darán su voz contra las ciudades de Judá.

17 As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.

17 Como guardias de campo están alrededor de ella, porque se rebeló contra mí, dice Jehová.

18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

18 Tu camino y tus obras te hicieron esto; esta es tu maldad, porque es amargura; penetra hasta tu corazón.

19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

19 ¡Mis entrañas, mis entrañas! Me duelen las fibras de mi corazón; mi corazón gime dentro de mí; no callaré, porque sonido de trompeta has oído, oh alma mía, el pregón de guerra.

20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

20 Quebrantamiento sobre quebrantamiento se anuncia, porque toda la tierra es devastada; de repente son devastadas mis tiendas, en un momento mis cortinas.

21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?

21 ¿Hasta cuándo he de ver bandera y he de oír sonido de trompeta?

22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

22 Porque mi pueblo es necio; no me conocieron; son hijos insensatos y sin entendimiento; son sabios para hacer el mal, pero no saben hacer el bien.

23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

23 Miré a la tierra, y he aquí que estaba desordenada y vacía; y a los cielos, y no había en ellos luz.

24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

24 Miré a los montes, y he aquí que temblaban, y todos los collados se estremecían.

25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

25 Miré, y he aquí, no había hombre, y todas las aves del cielo se habían ido.

26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

26 Miré, y he aquí, el campo fértil era un desierto, y todas sus ciudades fueron asoladas delante de Jehová, delante del furor de su ira.

27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

27 Porque así dijo Jehová: Toda la tierra será asolada, pero no la destruiré del todo.

28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

28 Por esto la tierra estará de duelo, y los cielos arriba se oscurecerán, porque he hablado, lo he pensado, y no me arrepentiré ni me volveré de ello.

29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

29 Al estruendo de la gente de a caballo y de los flecheros huye toda la ciudad; entran en las espesuras de los bosques y suben a los peñascos; toda ciudad es abandonada y no queda en ellas hombre alguno.

30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

30 Y tú, devastada, ¿qué harás? Aunque te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con atavíos de oro, aunque pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanas; te menosprecian tus amantes; buscan tu vida.

31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.

31 Porque oí una voz como de mujer que está de parto, angustia como de primeriza; es la voz de la hija de Sion que jadea y extiende sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí!, pues mi alma desfallece a causa de los asesinos.
