1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

1 La palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte de Jehová el año décimo de Sedequías, rey de Judá, que fue el año decimoctavo de Nabucodonosor.

2 For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

2 Y en aquel entonces el ejército del rey de Babilonia tenía sitiada a Jerusalén; y el profeta Jeremías estaba preso en el patio de la cárcel que estaba en la casa del rey de Judá,

3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

3 porque Sedequías, rey de Judá, lo había encarcelado, diciendo: ¿Por qué profetizas tú, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí, yo entrego esta ciudad en manos del rey de Babilonia, y él la tomará;

4 And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

4 y Sedequías, rey de Judá, no escapará de la mano de los caldeos, sino que de cierto será entregado en manos del rey de Babilonia y hablará con él boca a boca, y sus ojos verán sus ojos,

5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper?

5 y hará llevar a Sedequías a Babilonia, y allá estará hasta que yo le visite, dice Jehová; si peleáis contra los caldeos, no os irá bien?

6 And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

6 Y dijo Jeremías: La palabra de Jehová vino a mí, diciendo:

7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

7 He aquí que Hanameel, hijo de tu tío Salum, viene a ti, diciendo: Compra mi campo que está en Anatot, porque tú tienes el derecho de redimir para comprarlo.

8 So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

8 Y vino a mí Hanameel, hijo de mi tío, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, al patio de la cárcel, y me dijo: Compra ahora mi campo que está en Anatot, en la tierra de Benjamín, porque tuyo es el derecho de la herencia, y a ti te corresponde la redención; cómpralo para ti. Entonces comprendí que era la palabra de Jehová.

9 And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

9 Y compré la heredad de Hanameel, hijo de mi tío, la cual estaba en Anatot, y le pesé el dinero: diecisiete siclos de plata.

10 And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

10 Y escribí la carta y la sellé, y la hice atestiguar con testigos, y pesé el dinero en la balanza.

11 So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

11 Tomé luego la carta de compra, sellada según la ley y los estatutos, y la copia abierta.

12 And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

12 Y di la carta de compra a Baruc hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maasías, delante de Hanameel, el hijo de mi tío, y delante de los testigos que habían suscrito la carta de compra, delante de todos los judíos que estaban en el patio de la cárcel.

13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

13 Y di orden a Baruc delante de ellos, diciendo:

14 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.

14 Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Toma estas cartas, esta carta de compra, la sellada, y esta carta abierta, y ponlas en una vasija de barro, para que se conserven muchos días.

15 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

15 Porque así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: De nuevo se comprarán casas, y campos y viñas en esta tierra.

16 Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,

16 Y después que di la carta de compra a Baruc hijo de Nerías, oré a Jehová, diciendo:

17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

17 ¡Ah, Señor Jehová!, he aquí que tú hiciste el cielo y la tierra con tu gran poder y con tu brazo extendido. Nada hay que sea difícil para ti,

18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

18 que haces misericordia a millares y retribuyes la iniquidad de los padres en el seno de sus hijos después de ellos; Dios grande, poderoso, Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre.

19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

19 Grande eres en consejo y magnífico en hechos, porque tus ojos están abiertos sobre todos los caminos de los hijos de los hombres, para dar a cada uno según sus caminos y según el fruto de sus obras.

20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

20 Tú pusiste señales y maravillas en la tierra de Egipto hasta este día, y en Israel y entre los hombres; y te has hecho un nombre como en este día;

21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

21 y sacaste a tu pueblo Israel de la tierra de Egipto con señales, y con maravillas, y con mano fuerte, y con brazo extendido y con gran terror.

22 And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

22 Y les diste esta tierra, la cual juraste a sus padres que se la darías, tierra que fluye leche y miel.

23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

23 Y entraron y tomaron posesión de ella, pero no escucharon tu voz ni anduvieron en tu ley; nada hicieron de lo que les mandaste hacer; por eso, has hecho venir sobre ellos todo este mal.

24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

24 He aquí que con terraplenes han acometido la ciudad para tomarla, y la ciudad es entregada en manos de los caldeos que pelean contra ella a causa de la espada, y del hambre y de la pestilencia; y ha venido a suceder lo que tú dijiste, y he aquí, tú lo estás viendo.

25 And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

25 ¡Ah, Señor Jehová! Y tú me has dicho: Cómprate el campo por dinero y haz atestiguar con testigos; y la ciudad es entregada en manos de los caldeos.

26 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

26 Y vino la palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo:

27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

27 He aquí, yo soy Jehová, Dios de toda carne. ¿Acaso hay algo que sea difícil para mí?

28 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

28 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo entrego esta ciudad en manos de los caldeos y en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y él la tomará.

29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

29 Y vendrán los caldeos que combaten contra esta ciudad, y prenderán fuego a la ciudad y la quemarán, junto con las casas en cuyas azoteas quemaron incienso a Baal y derramaron libaciones a dioses ajenos, para provocarme a ira.

30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

30 Porque los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Judá no han hecho sino lo malo delante de mis ojos desde su juventud; porque los hijos de Israel no han hecho más que provocarme a ira con la obra de sus manos, dice Jehová.

31 For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

31 Porque para mi enojo y para mi ira me ha sido esta ciudad desde el día en que la edificaron hasta hoy, para que la haga quitar de mi presencia

32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

32 por toda la maldad de los hijos de Israel y de los hijos de Judá que han hecho para enojarme, ellos, sus reyes, sus príncipes, sus sacerdotes y sus profetas, y los hombres de Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén.

33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

33 Y me volvieron la espalda y no el rostro; y cuando les enseñaba, madrugando y enseñando, no escucharon para recibir corrección,

34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

34 sino que asentaron sus abominaciones en la casa sobre la cual es invocado mi nombre, profanándola.

35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

35 Y edificaron los lugares altos a Baal, los cuales están en el valle del hijo de Hinom, para hacer pasar por el fuego a sus hijos y a sus hijas a Moloc, lo cual no les mandé, ni me vino al pensamiento que hiciesen esta abominación, para hacer pecar a Judá.

36 And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

36 Y ahora, por tanto, así dice Jehová Dios de Israel a esta ciudad, de la cual decís vosotros: Entregada será en manos del rey de Babilonia por la espada, y por el hambre y por la pestilencia;

37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

37 he aquí que yo los recogeré de todas las tierras a las cuales los eché con mi furor, y con mi enojo y con mi gran ira; y los haré volver a este lugar y los haré habitar seguros;

38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

38 y ellos serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios.

39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

39 Y les daré un corazón y un camino, para que me teman para siempre, para bien de ellos y de sus hijos después de ellos.

40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

40 Y haré con ellos convenio sempiterno: que no dejaré de hacerles bien, y pondré mi temor en el corazón de ellos, para que no se aparten de mí.

41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

41 Y me regocijaré en ellos haciéndoles bien, y los plantaré en esta tierra en verdad, con todo mi corazón y con toda mi alma.

42 For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

42 Porque así ha dicho Jehová: Como traje sobre este pueblo todo este gran mal, así traeré sobre ellos todo el bien que les he prometido.

43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

43 Y poseerán campos en esta tierra de la cual vosotros decís: Está desolada, sin hombres y sin animales; es entregada en manos de los caldeos.

44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.

44 Campos comprarán por dinero, y harán cartas de compra y las sellarán, y harán atestiguar con testigos en la tierra de Benjamín, y en los contornos de Jerusalén, y en las ciudades de Judá, y en las ciudades de las montañas, y en las ciudades de las llanuras y en las ciudades del sur, porque yo los haré regresar de su cautividad, dice Jehová.
