1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

1 Sin embargo, no habrá oscuridad tal como la aflicción que hubo en el tiempo en que él livianamente afligió la primera vez a la tierra de Zabulón y a la tierra de Neftalí; y después la angustió más penosamente por la vía del mar, del otro lado del Jordán, en Galilea de las naciones.

2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

2 El pueblo que andaba en tinieblas vio gran luz; a los que moraban en tierra de sombra de muerte, luz resplandeció sobre ellos.

3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

3 Multiplicaste la gente y aumentaste la alegría. Se alegrarán delante de ti como se alegran en la siega, como se regocijan cuando reparten el botín.

4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

4 Porque tú quebraste el yugo de su carga, y la vara de su hombro y el bastón de su opresor, como en el día de Madián.

5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

5 Porque todo calzado del guerrero en el tumulto de la batalla y manto manchado en sangre, todo esto será para quemar, para pasto del fuego.

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

6 Porque un niño nos es nacido, hijo nos es dado; y el principado estará sobre su hombro; y se llamará su nombre Admirable, Consejero, Dios fuerte, Padre eterno, Príncipe de paz.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

7 El aumento de su dominio y la paz no tendrán fin, sobre el trono de David y sobre su reino, disponiéndolo y confirmándolo en juicio y en justicia desde ahora y para siempre. El celo de Jehová de los ejércitos hará esto.

8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

8 El Señor envió palabra a Jacob, y cayó en Israel.

9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

9 Y todo el pueblo lo sabrá, Efraín y los moradores de Samaria, que con soberbia y con altivez de corazón dicen:

10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

10 Los ladrillos cayeron, pero edificaremos de cantería; cortaron los sicómoros, pero en su lugar pondremos cedros.

11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

11 Pero Jehová levantará a los adversarios de Rezín contra él y juntará a sus enemigos:

12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

12 los sirios por delante y los filisteos por detrás, y a boca llena devorarán a Israel. Ni con todo eso ha cesado su furor, sino que su mano aún está extendida.

13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

13 Pero el pueblo no se ha vuelto al que lo ha herido ni ha buscado a Jehová de los ejércitos.

14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

14 Y Jehová cortará de Israel cabeza y cola, rama y caña, en un mismo día.

15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

15 El anciano y venerable de rostro es la cabeza, y el profeta que enseña mentira es la cola.

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

16 Porque los que guían a este pueblo lo hacen errar, y los que ellos guían son destruidos.

17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

17 Por tanto, el Señor no se complacerá en sus jóvenes, ni de sus huérfanos ni de sus viudas tendrá misericordia, porque todos son profanos y malhechores, y toda boca habla necedades. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, sino que su mano aún está extendida.

18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

18 Porque la maldad se enciende como fuego; cardos y espinos devorará, y se encenderá en lo espeso del bosque, y serán alzados como remolinos de humo.

19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.

19 Por la ira de Jehová de los ejércitos se oscurece la tierra, y el pueblo es como pasto del fuego; ningún hombre tiene piedad de su hermano.

20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:

20 Cada uno arrebatará a la mano derecha y tendrá hambre; y comerá a la izquierda y no se saciará; cada cual comerá la carne de su propio brazo:

21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

21 Manasés a Efraín, y Efraín a Manasés, y ambos contra Judá. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, sino que su mano todavía está extendida.
