1 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

1 Y me dijo Jehová: Toma una tabla grande y escribe en ella con estilete de hombre tocante a Maher-salal-hasbaz.

2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

2 Y junté conmigo como testigos fieles al sacerdote Urías y a Zacarías hijo de Jeberequías.

3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

3 Y me llegué a la profetisa, y concibió y dio a luz un hijo. Y me dijo Jehová: Ponle por nombre Maher-salal-hasbaz.

4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

4 Porque antes que el niño sepa decir: padre mío y madre mía, será quitada la riqueza de Damasco y los despojos de Samaria delante del rey de Asiria.

5 The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,

5 Otra vez volvió Jehová a hablarme, diciendo:

6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;

6 Por cuanto este pueblo ha rechazado las aguas de Siloé, que corren mansamente, y se ha regocijado en Rezín y en el hijo de Remalías,

7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

7 por tanto, he aquí, el Señor hace subir sobre ellos las aguas del río, fuertes y muchas, a saber, al rey de Asiria con toda su gloria. Él se desbordará sobre todos sus cauces y pasará sobre todas sus riberas;

8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

8 y, pasando por Judá, inundará y se desbordará hasta llegar a la garganta; y la extensión de sus alas llenará la anchura de tu tierra, oh Emanuel.

9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

9 Formad alianzas, pueblos, y seréis quebrantados; y dad oídos, todos los que sois de lejanas tierras; ceñíos y seréis quebrantados; apercibíos y seréis quebrantados.

10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

10 Reuníos en consejo, y será anulado; hablad palabra, y no permanecerá, porque Dios está con nosotros.

11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

11 Porque Jehová me habló de esta manera con mano fuerte y me enseñó que no caminase por el camino de este pueblo, diciendo:

12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

12 No llaméis conspiración a todas las cosas que este pueblo llama conspiración, ni temáis lo que ellos temen ni tengáis miedo.

13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

13 A Jehová de los ejércitos, a él santificad; sea él vuestro temor, y él sea vuestro miedo.

14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

14 Entonces él será un santuario; pero a las dos casas de Israel será piedra de tropiezo y tropezadero para caer, y será trampa y red al morador de Jerusalén.

15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

15 Y muchos tropezarán entre ellos, y caerán y serán quebrantados; se enredarán y serán apresados.

16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

16 Ata el testimonio; sella la ley entre mis discípulos.

17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

17 Esperaré, pues, a Jehová, quien esconde su rostro de la casa de Jacob, y a él aguardaré.

18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

18 He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dio Jehová somos señales y prodigios en Israel, de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos que mora en el monte Sion.

19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

19 Y si os dijeren: Preguntad a los que evocan a los muertos, y a los adivinos, y a los que susurran y a los que murmuran, responded: ¿No consultará el pueblo a su Dios? ¿Consultará a los muertos por los vivos?

20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

20 ¡A la ley y al testimonio! Si no hablan conforme a esto, es porque no les ha amanecido.

21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

21 Y pasarán por la tierra fatigados y hambrientos; y acontecerá que, teniendo hambre, se enojarán y maldecirán a su rey y a su Dios, levantando el rostro en alto.

22 And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

22 Y mirarán a la tierra, y he aquí tribulación y tinieblas, oscuridad de angustia; y quedarán sumidos en las tinieblas.
