1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

1 ¡Clama a voz en cuello; no te contengas! Alza tu voz como trompeta, y declara a mi pueblo su transgresión y a la casa de Jacob su pecado.

2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

2 Pues me buscan cada día y quieren saber mis caminos, como nación que hubiese hecho justicia y que no hubiese dejado la ley de su Dios; me piden juicios justos y quieren acercarse a Dios.

3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

3 Dicen: ¿Por qué ayunamos y no hiciste caso; humillamos nuestras almas, y no te diste por entendido? He aquí que en el día de vuestro ayuno buscáis vuestro propio gusto y oprimís a vuestros trabajadores.

4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

4 He aquí que para contiendas y debates ayunáis y para herir con el puño de iniquidad; no ayunéis como lo hacéis hoy, para que vuestra voz sea oída en lo alto.

5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

5 ¿Es este el ayuno que yo escogí, un día en que el hombre aflija su alma, en que encorve su cabeza como junco y haga cama de cilicio y de ceniza? ¿Llamaréis esto ayuno y día agradable a Jehová?

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

6 ¿No es más bien el ayuno que yo escogí: desatar las ligaduras de la maldad, soltar las cargas de opresión, y dejar libres a los quebrantados y romper todo yugo?

7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

7 ¿No consiste en que compartas tu pan con el hambriento y a los pobres errantes alojes en tu casa; en que cuando veas al desnudo, lo cubras y no te escondas del que es tu propia carne?

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rearward.

8 Entonces nacerá tu luz como el alba, y tu salud se manifestará pronto; e irá tu rectitud delante de ti, y la gloria de Jehová será tu retaguardia.

9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

9 Entonces invocarás, y te responderá Jehová; clamarás, y dirá él: Heme aquí. Si quitas de en medio de ti el yugo, el señalar con el dedo y el hablar vanidad;

10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:

10 y si extiendes tu alma al hambriento y sacias al alma afligida, en las tinieblas nacerá tu luz, y tu oscuridad será como el mediodía;

11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

11 y Jehová te guiará siempre, y en las sequías saciará tu alma y dará vigor a tus huesos; y serás como huerto de riego y como manantial cuyas aguas nunca faltan.

12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

12 Y los tuyos edificarán las ruinas antiguas; los cimientos de generación en generación levantarás; y serás llamado reparador de brechas, restaurador de calzadas para habitar.

13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

13 Si retraes del día de reposo tu pie, de hacer tu voluntad en mi día santo, y lo llamas delicia, santo, glorioso de Jehová, y lo veneras, no andando en tus propios caminos, ni buscando tu propia voluntad ni hablando tus propias palabras,

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

14 entonces te deleitarás en Jehová; y yo te haré cabalgar sobre las alturas de la tierra y te daré a comer la heredad de Jacob, tu padre, porque la boca de Jehová lo ha hablado.
