1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

1 Ahora pues, oye, oh Jacob, siervo mío, y tú, oh Israel, a quien yo escogí.

2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

2 Así dice Jehová, Hacedor tuyo y el que te formó desde el vientre, el cual te ayudará: No temas, oh Jacob, siervo mío, Jesurún, a quien yo escogí.

3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

3 Porque yo derramaré agua sobre el sequedal y ríos sobre la tierra árida; mi espíritu derramaré sobre tu descendencia y mi bendición sobre tus renuevos.

4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

4 Y brotarán entre la hierba, como sauces junto a las riberas de las aguas.

5 One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

5 Este dirá: Yo soy de Jehová; otro llevará el nombre de Jacob; y otro escribirá con su mano: Soy de Jehová, y se apellidará con el nombre de Israel.

6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

6 Así dice Jehová, Rey de Israel y su Redentor, Jehová de los ejércitos: Yo soy el primero y yo soy el postrero, y fuera de mí no hay Dios.

7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

7 ¿Y quién como yo lo declarará y lo pondrá en orden delante de mí, desde que establecí el pueblo antiguo? Y anuncien lo que viene, sí, lo que vendrá.

8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

8 No temáis ni os amedrentéis; ¿no te lo hice oír desde aquel entonces, y lo anuncié? Por tanto, vosotros sois mis testigos. ¿Hay Dios aparte de mí? ¡No hay otra Roca; no conozco ninguna!

9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

9 Los que hacen imágenes talladas, todos ellos son vanidad, y lo más preciado de ellos para nada es útil; y ellos mismos, para su vergüenza, son testigos de que los ídolos no ven ni entienden.

10 Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

10 ¿Quién dio forma a un dios o quién fundió una imagen que para nada es de provecho?

11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

11 He aquí, todos sus compañeros serán avergonzados, porque los artífices mismos son hombres. Todos ellos se juntarán, se levantarán, temerán, y se avergonzarán a una.

12 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

12 El herrero toma la tenaza, trabaja en las brasas, y le da forma con los martillos y trabaja en ello con la fuerza de su brazo; después tiene hambre, y le faltan las fuerzas; no bebe agua y se desmaya.

13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

13 El carpintero tiende la regla, lo marca con estilete, lo labra con las gubias, le da figura con el compás, lo hace en forma de varón, a semejanza de hombre hermoso, para tenerlo en casa.

14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

14 Corta cedros y toma un ciprés y una encina que cultiva entre los árboles del bosque; planta un pino para que crezca con la lluvia.

15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

15 De él se sirve luego el hombre para quemar, y toma de él para calentarse; enciende también el fuego y cuece panes; hace además un dios y lo adora; hace una imagen tallada y se arrodilla delante de ella.

16 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

16 Parte del leño quema en el fuego; con parte de él come carne, adereza un asado y se sacia; después se calienta y dice: ¡Ah, me he calentado; he visto el fuego!

17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

17 Y hace del sobrante un dios, su imagen tallada; se postra delante de ella, y la adora y le ruega, diciendo: Líbrame, porque mi dios eres tú.

18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

18 No saben ni entienden, porque él ha cerrado sus ojos para que no vean y su corazón para que no entiendan.

19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

19 Y ninguno reflexiona en su corazón; no tiene conocimiento ni entendimiento para decir: Parte de esto quemé en el fuego, y sobre sus brasas cocí pan, asé carne y la comí. ¿He de hacer del resto de ello una abominación? ¿He de postrarme delante de un tronco de árbol?

20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

20 De ceniza se alimenta; su corazón engañado le desvía, para que no libre su alma ni diga: ¿No hay una mentira en mi mano derecha?

21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

21 Acuérdate de esto, oh Jacob, e Israel, porque mi siervo eres; Yo te formé; siervo mío eres tú, Israel; no me olvidaré de ti.

22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

22 Yo deshice como a nube tus transgresiones y como a niebla tus pecados; vuélvete a mí, porque yo te redimí.

23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

23 Cantad loores, oh cielos, porque Jehová lo hizo; gritad con júbilo, lugares bajos de la tierra; prorrumpid en alabanza montes, bosque y todo árbol que hay en él, porque Jehová redimió a Jacob y en Israel se glorifica.

24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

24 Así dice Jehová, tu Redentor, que te formó desde el vientre: Yo Jehová, que lo hago todo, que despliego yo solo los cielos, que extiendo la tierra por mí mismo;

25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

25 que deshago las señales de los adivinos y enloquezco a los agoreros; que hago retroceder a los sabios y convierto en necedad su sabiduría;

26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

26 yo soy quien confirma la palabra de su siervo y cumple el consejo de sus mensajeros; el que dice a Jerusalén: Serás habitada; y a las ciudades de Judá: Seréis reedificadas y vuestras ruinas levantaré;

27 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

27 el que dice a las profundidades: ¡Secaos! Y vuestros ríos haré secar;

28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

28 el que dice de Ciro: Es mi pastor y cumplirá todo lo que yo quiero, al decir de Jerusalén: Sea edificada; y del templo: Sea fundado.
