1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

1 ¡Ay de los hijos rebeldes, dice Jehová, que toman consejo, pero no de mí; que se entrelazan con cubierta, pero no de mi espíritu, añadiendo pecado sobre pecado!

2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

2 Parten para descender a Egipto, pero no han preguntado de mi boca, para fortalecerse con la fuerza de Faraón y buscar refugio a la sombra de Egipto.

3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

3 Pero la fuerza de Faraón será vuestra vergüenza; y el refugio a la sombra de Egipto, vuestro oprobio.

4 For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.

4 Porque aunque sus príncipes estaban en Zoán, y sus embajadores llegaron a Hanes,

5 They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.

5 se avergonzarán todos de un pueblo que no les sirve de nada, ni los socorre ni les trae provecho; antes les será para vergüenza y aun para oprobio.

6 The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.

6 Profecía sobre las bestias del sur: Por tierra de tribulación y de angustia, de donde salen la leona y el león, la víbora y la serpiente ardiente que vuela, llevan sobre lomos de asnos sus riquezas, y sus tesoros sobre jorobas de camellos, a un pueblo que no les será de provecho.

7 For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

7 Y Egipto en vano e inútilmente dará ayuda; por tanto, yo lo he llamado Rahab, la inmóvil.

8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

8 Ve ahora, y escríbelo en una tabla delante de ellos, y regístralo en un libro para que quede hasta el día postrero, eternamente y para siempre.

9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

9 Porque este pueblo es rebelde, hijos mentirosos, hijos que no quieren oír la ley de Jehová;

10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

10 que dicen a los videntes: No veáis visiones; y a los profetas: No nos profeticéis lo que es recto; decidnos cosas halagüeñas, profetizad engaños;

11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

11 dejad el camino, apartaos de la senda, quitad de nuestra presencia al Santo de Israel.

12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

12 Por tanto, el Santo de Israel dice así: Porque habéis desechado esta palabra, y habéis confiado en la opresión y en la iniquidad, y en ellas os habéis apoyado,

13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

13 por tanto, os será este pecado como muro agrietado que va a caer, y como un alto muro, cuya caída viene súbita y repentinamente.

14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters' vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.

14 Y lo quebrará como se quiebra un vaso de alfarero, que sin misericordia lo hacen pedazos; tanto, que entre los pedazos no se halla tiesto para sacar fuego del hogar o para sacar agua del pozo.

15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

15 Porque así dijo Jehová el Señor, el Santo de Israel: En arrepentimiento y en reposo seréis salvos; en la quietud y en la confianza estará vuestra fortaleza. Pero no quisisteis,

16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

16 sino que dijisteis: No, antes huiremos en caballos; por tanto, vosotros huiréis. Y sobre corceles veloces cabalgaremos; por tanto, serán veloces vuestros perseguidores.

17 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.

17 Un millar huirá ante la amenaza de uno solo; ante la amenaza de cinco huiréis vosotros todos, hasta que quedéis como mástil en la cumbre de un monte y como bandera sobre una colina.

18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

18 Por tanto, Jehová esperará para tener piedad de vosotros, y por tanto, será exaltado y tendrá de vosotros misericordia, porque Jehová es Dios de justicia; bienaventurados todos los que esperan en él.

19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

19 Ciertamente el pueblo morará en Sion, en Jerusalén; nunca más llorarás; ciertamente se apiadará de ti a la voz de tu clamor; al oírla, te responderá.

20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

20 Aunque os dará el Señor pan de congoja y agua de angustia, con todo, tus maestros nunca más te serán quitados, sino que tus ojos verán a tus maestros.

21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

21 Entonces tus oídos oirán a tus espaldas palabra, diciendo: Este es el camino, andad por él, ya sea que vayáis a la derecha o a la izquierda.

22 Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.

22 Entonces profanarás la cubierta de plata de tus esculturas y la vestidura de oro de tus imágenes de fundición; las apartarás como a trapo asqueroso. Les dirás: ¡Salid de aquí!

23 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.

23 Entonces dará el Señor lluvia a tu sembrado cuando siembres la tierra y dará pan del fruto de la tierra; y será abundante y sustancioso; tus ganados en aquel tiempo serán apacentados en amplias praderas.

24 The oxen likewise and the young asses that ear the ground shall eat clean provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.

24 Tus bueyes y tus asnos que labran la tierra comerán grano limpio, el cual será aventado con pala y criba.

25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

25 Y sobre todo monte alto, y sobre todo collado elevado, habrá ríos y corrientes de aguas el día de la gran matanza cuando caigan las torres.

26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

26 Y la luz de la luna será como la luz del sol, y la luz del sol será siete veces mayor, como la luz de siete días, el día en que ponga una venda Jehová en la fractura de su pueblo y cure la llaga que él ha causado.

27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

27 He aquí que el nombre de Jehová viene de lejos, con ardiente enojo y en densa humareda, sus labios llenos de ira y su lengua como fuego que consume.

28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

28 Y su aliento, cual torrente que inunda, llegará hasta el cuello para zarandear las naciones con criba de destrucción; y el freno estará en las quijadas de los pueblos, haciéndo los errar.

29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.

29 Vosotros tendréis cántico como en la noche en que se celebra una fiesta solemne; y alegría de corazón, como la del que va con flauta para venir al monte de Jehová, a la Roca de Israel.

30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

30 Y Jehová hará oír la majestad de su voz y hará ver el descenso de su brazo, con la indignación de su ira y llama de fuego consumidor, con tormenta, con tempestad y piedras de granizo.

31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

31 Porque Asiria, que hirió con vara, con la voz de Jehová será quebrantada.

32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

32 Y sucederá que cada golpe de la vara justiciera que Jehová descargue sobre ella será con panderos y arpas; y en batallas tumultuosas peleará contra ellos.

33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

33 Porque Tofet ya de tiempo está dispuesto y preparado para el rey, profundo y ancho, cuya pira es fuego y mucha leña; el soplo de Jehová, como torrente de azufre, la enciende.
