1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

1 Porque he aquí, Jehová, el Señor de los ejércitos quita de Jerusalén y de Judá el sustento y el socorro, todo sustento de pan y todo socorro de agua;

2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,

2 el valiente y el hombre de guerra, el juez y el profeta, el adivino y el anciano;

3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

3 el capitán de cincuenta, y el hombre de respeto, y el consejero, y el artífice excelente y el hábil encantador.

4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

4 Y les pondré jóvenes por príncipes, y niños los gobernarán.

5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

5 Y el pueblo hará violencia los unos contra los otros, y cada cual contra su prójimo; el joven actuará con altivez contra el anciano, y el indigno contra el honorable.

6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:

6 Cuando alguno tome a su hermano, de la familia de su padre, y le diga: Tú tienes manto; tú serás nuestro gobernante, y toma en tus manos esta ruina;

7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

7 él jurará en aquel día, diciendo: No seré el sanador, pues en mi casa no hay pan ni manto; no me hagáis gobernante del pueblo.

8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

8 Pues arruinada está Jerusalén, y Judá ha caído; pues la lengua de ellos y sus obras han sido contra Jehová, al rebelarse ante los ojos de su gloria.

9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

9 La apariencia de sus rostros testifica contra ellos y, como Sodoma, manifiestan su pecado; no lo ocultan. ¡Ay del alma de ellos!, porque trajeron mal para sí.

10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

10 Decid al justo que le irá bien, porque comerá del fruto de sus obras.

11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

11 ¡Ay del malvado! Mal le irá, porque según las obras de sus manos le será pagado.

12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

12 Los opresores de mi pueblo son niños, y mujeres lo gobiernan. Oh pueblo mío, los que te guían te hacen errar y tuercen el rumbo de tus caminos.

13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

13 Jehová está en pie para litigar y está para juzgar a los pueblos.

14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

14 Jehová vendrá a juicio contra los ancianos de su pueblo y contra sus príncipes, porque vosotros habéis devorado la viña; el despojo del pobre está en vuestras casas.

15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

15 ¿Qué intentáis vosotros que trituráis a mi pueblo y moléis la cara de los pobres?, dice el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos.

16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

16 Asimismo dice Jehová: Por cuanto las hijas de Sion son altivas y andan con cuello erguido y ojos desvergonzados, que caminan como si danzaran, haciendo sonar los adornos de sus pies,

17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.

17 por tanto, el Señor herirá con sarna la mollera de las hijas de Sion, y Jehová descubrirá su desnudez.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

18 Aquel día el Señor quitará la hermosura de los adornos de sus tobillos, y las redecillas, y las lunetas,

19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

19 los collares, y los brazaletes, y los velos,

20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

20 las cofias, y los adornos de las piernas, y las cintas, los pomitos de olor, y los zarcillos,

21 The rings, and nose jewels,

21 los anillos, y los joyeles de la nariz,

22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

22 las ropas de gala, y los mantoncillos, y las capas, y las bolsas,

23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the veils.

23 los espejos, y los linos finos, y los tocados y las gasas.

24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

24 Y acontecerá que en lugar de los perfumes aromáticos habrá hediondez, y soga en lugar de cinturón, y calvicie en lugar de cabellos peinados, y en lugar de faja, ceñimiento de cilicio y quemadura en vez de hermosura.

25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.

25 Tus hombres caerán a espada y tus fuertes en la batalla.

26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

26 Y sus puertas se lamentarán y enlutarán; y ella, desolada, se sentará en tierra.
