1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

1 ¡Ay de la corona de soberbia de los ebrios de Efraín y de la flor caduca de la hermosura de su gloria, que está sobre la cabeza del valle fértil de los aturdidos por el vino!

2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

2 He aquí, el Señor tiene uno que es fuerte y poderoso, y que como una tormenta de granizo y como una tempestad arrasadora, como ímpetu de recias aguas que inundan, derriba a tierra con la mano.

3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:

3 Con los pies será hollada la corona de soberbia de los ebrios de Efraín.

4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

4 Y la flor marchita de la hermosura de su gloria que está sobre la cabeza del valle fértil será como la fruta temprana, antes del verano, la cual, apenas la ve el que la mira, se la traga tan pronto como la tiene a la mano.

5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

5 En aquel día Jehová de los ejércitos será corona de gloria y diadema de hermosura para el remanente de su pueblo,

6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

6 y será espíritu de juicio al que se sienta en juicio y será fortaleza a los que rechazan el asalto a la puerta.

7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

7 Pero también estos erraron por el vino y se desviaron por la bebida fuerte; el sacerdote y el profeta erraron por la bebida fuerte; fueron consumidos por el vino, se desviaron por la bebida fuerte, erraron en la visión, titubearon en sus decisiones.

8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

8 Porque todas las mesas están llenas de vómito y suciedad, hasta no haber lugar limpio.

9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

9 ¿A quién enseñará él conocimiento, o a quién hará entender el mensaje? ¿A los destetados? ¿A los recién quitados de los pechos?

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

10 Porque mandamiento sobre mandamiento, mandato tras mandato, línea sobre línea, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá;

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

11 porque con tartamudez de labios y en otra lengua él hablará a este pueblo,

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

12 a los cuales él dijo: Este es el reposo; dad reposo al cansado; y este es el descanso, mas no quisieron oír.

13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

13 Y la palabra de Jehová les fue mandamiento tras mandamiento, mandato tras mandato, línea sobre línea, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá, a fin de que vayan y caigan de espaldas, y sean quebrantados, y atrapados y apresados.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

14 Por tanto, hombres escarnecedores que gobernáis a este pueblo que está en Jerusalén, oíd la palabra de Jehová.

15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

15 Porque habéis dicho: Pacto hemos hecho con la muerte y hemos hecho acuerdo con el Seol; cuando pase el azote arrasador, no llegará a nosotros, porque hemos hecho de la mentira nuestro refugio y en la falsedad nos hemos escondido;

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

16 por tanto, Jehová el Señor dice así: He aquí, yo soy el que ha puesto en Sion como fundamento una piedra, piedra probada, preciosa piedra angular, cimiento estable; el que crea no se apresurará.

17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

17 Y pondré el juicio a medida de cordel, y a nivel la justicia; y el granizo barrerá el refugio de la mentira, y las aguas inundarán el escondrijo.

18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

18 Y será anulado vuestro pacto con la muerte, y vuestro acuerdo con el Seol no permanecerá; cuando pase el azote arrasador, seréis por él hollados.

19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

19 Cuantas veces pase, él os arrebatará, porque de mañana en mañana pasará, de día y de noche; y ciertamente será espanto el entender el mensaje.

20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

20 Porque la cama es corta para estirarse en ella, y la manta estrecha para envolverse en ella.

21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.

21 Porque Jehová se levantará como en el monte Perazim; como en el valle de Gabaón se enojará, para hacer su obra, su extraña obra, y para hacer su labor, su extraña labor.

22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

22 Ahora, pues, no seáis escarnecedores, no sea que se aprieten más vuestras ataduras; porque una destrucción total ya determinada sobre toda la tierra he oído del Señor Jehová de los ejércitos.

23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

23 Estad atentos y oíd mi voz; estad atentos y oíd mis palabras.

24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

24 ¿Arará todo el día el que ara para sembrar? ¿Romperá y rastrillará su tierra?

25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

25 Cuando haya allanado su superficie, ¿no esparcirá el eneldo, y sembrará el comino, y pondrá el trigo en hileras, y la cebada en su lugar señalado y el centeno en su borde?

26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

26 Porque su Dios le instruye y le enseña cómo hacerlo:

27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.

27 que el eneldo no se trilla con trillo, ni sobre el comino se hace rodar rueda de carreta, sino que con un palo se sacude el eneldo, y el comino con una vara.

28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

28 El grano se trilla, pero no se trilla sin parar, ni se comprime con rueda de carreta ni se aplasta con los caballos.

29 This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

29 También esto procede de Jehová de los ejércitos, para hacer maravilloso el consejo y grande la sabiduría.
