1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

1 Profecía sobre Babilonia, que vio Isaías hijo de Amoz:

2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

2 Levantad bandera en lo alto de un monte. Alzad la voz a ellos; señalad con la mano para que entren por las puertas de los nobles.

3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

3 Yo mandé a mis santificados; asimismo llamé a mis valientes, a los que se alegran con mi gloria, para ejecutar mi ira.

4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

4 Estruendo de multitud en los montes, como de mucho pueblo; estruendoso ruido de reinos, de naciones reunidas; Jehová de los ejércitos dispone las tropas para la batalla.

5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

5 Vienen de lejana tierra, del extremo de los cielos, Jehová y las armas de su indignación, para destruir toda la tierra.

6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

6 Aullad, porque cerca está el día de Jehová; vendrá como destrucción del Todopoderoso.

7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

7 Por tanto, se debilitarán todas las manos, y desfallecerá todo corazón de hombre;

8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

8 y se llenarán de terror; angustias y dolores se apoderarán de ellos. Tendrán dolores como de mujer de parto; se asombrará cada cual al mirar a su compañero; sus rostros, rostros de llamas.

9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

9 He aquí, el día de Jehová viene, cruel, con indignación e ira ardiente para dejar la tierra desolada y destruir en ella a sus pecadores.

10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

10 Por lo cual las estrellas de los cielos y sus constelaciones no darán su luz; y el sol se oscurecerá al salir, y la luna no dará su resplandor.

11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

11 Y castigaré al mundo por su maldad y a los malvados por su iniquidad; y haré que cese la arrogancia de los soberbios y abatiré la altivez de los tiranos.

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

12 Haré al ser humano más precioso que el oro fino, y al hombre más que el oro de Ofir.

13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

13 Porque haré estremecer los cielos, y la tierra se moverá de su lugar en la indignación de Jehová de los ejércitos, en el día de su ira ardiente.

14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

14 Y será que, como gacela perseguida y como oveja sin pastor, cada cual acudirá a su propio pueblo, y cada uno huirá a su propia tierra.

15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

15 Cualquiera que sea hallado será traspasado, y cualquiera que por ellos sea tomado caerá a espada.

16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

16 Y sus niños serán estrellados delante de sus ojos; sus casas serán saqueadas, y violadas sus mujeres.

17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

17 He aquí que yo incitaré contra ellos a los medos, que no estimarán la plata ni codiciarán el oro.

18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

18 Y con arcos destrozarán a los jóvenes; y no tendrán misericordia del fruto del vientre, ni su ojo tendrá piedad de los niños.

19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

19 Y Babilonia, la gloria de los reinos, ornamento de la grandeza de los caldeos, será como cuando Dios destruyó a Sodoma y a Gomorra.

20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

20 Nunca más será habitada, ni se morará en ella de generación en generación; no levantará allí tienda el árabe, ni los pastores harán descansar allí su rebaño,

21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

21 sino que las fieras del desierto se echarán allí, y sus casas se llenarán de animales que aúllan; allí habitarán avestruces y allí danzarán cabras salvajes.

22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

22 Y en sus desoladas fortalezas aullarán las hienas, y chacales en sus palacios deleitosos. Y su tiempo está a punto de llegar, y sus días no se prolongarán.
