1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

1 Y conoció Adán a su esposa Eva, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Caín, y dijo: He adquirido varón por voluntad de Jehová.

2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

2 Y después dio a luz a su hermano Abel. Y fue Abel pastor de ovejas, y Caín fue labrador de la tierra.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

3 Y aconteció, andando el tiempo, que Caín trajo del fruto de la tierra una ofrenda a Jehová.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

4 Y Abel trajo también de los primogénitos de sus ovejas, y de su grosura. Y miró Jehová con agrado a Abel y a su ofrenda;

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

5 mas no miró con agrado a Caín ni a la ofrenda suya. Y Caín se ensañó en gran manera y decayó su semblante.

6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

6 Entonces Jehová dijo a Caín: ¿Por qué te has ensañado y por qué ha decaído tu semblante?

7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

7 Si bien hicieres, ¿no serás enaltecido? Y si no hicieres bien, el pecado está a la puerta; con todo esto, te deseará, pero tú te enseñorearás de él.

8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

8 Y habló Caín a su hermano Abel; y aconteció que estando ellos en el campo, Caín se levantó contra su hermano Abel y le mató.

9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

9 Y Jehová dijo a Caín: ¿Dónde está Abel, tu hermano? Y él respondió: No sé. ¿Soy yo acaso guarda de mi hermano?

10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

10 Y él le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? La voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a mí desde la tierra.

11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

11 Ahora pues, maldito seas tú de la tierra, que abrió su boca para recibir de tu mano la sangre de tu hermano.

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

12 Cuando labres la tierra, no te volverá a dar su fuerza; errante y vagabundo serás en la tierra.

13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

13 Y dijo Caín a Jehová: Grande es mi castigo para soportarlo.

14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

14 He aquí, me echas hoy de la faz de la tierra, y de tu presencia me esconderé; y seré errante y vagabundo en la tierra; y sucederá que cualquiera que me hallare me matará.

15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

15 Y le respondió Jehová: Ciertamente cualquiera que mate a Caín, siete veces será castigado. Entonces Jehová puso una marca sobre Caín, para que no lo matase cualquiera que le hallara.

16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

16 Y salió Caín de delante de Jehová y habitó en la tierra de Nod, al oriente de Edén.

17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

17 Y conoció Caín a su esposa, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Enoc; y edificó una ciudad, a la que le puso el nombre de su hijo, Enoc.

18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.

18 Y a Enoc le nació Irad, e Irad engendró a Mehujael, y Mehujael engendró a Metusael, y Metusael engendró a Lamec.

19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

19 Y Lamec tomó para sí dos esposas; el nombre de una era Ada, y el nombre de la otra, Zila.

20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.

20 Y Ada dio a luz a Jabal, el que fue padre de los que habitan en tiendas y crían ganados.

21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.

21 Y el nombre de su hermano era Jubal, el que fue padre de todos los que tocan arpa y flauta.

22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.

22 Y Zila también dio a luz a Tubal-caín, artífice de toda obra de metal y de hierro; y la hermana de Tubal-caín fue Naama.

23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

23 Y dijo Lamec a sus esposas: Ada y Zila, oíd mi voz, esposas de Lamec, escuchad mis palabras: A un hombre maté por mi herida y a un joven por mi golpe.

24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

24 Si siete veces será vengado Caín, Lamec en verdad setenta veces siete lo será.

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

25 Y conoció de nuevo Adán a su esposa, la cual dio a luz un hijo, y llamó su nombre Set: Porque Dios (dijo ella) me ha concedido otro hijo en lugar de Abel, a quien mató Caín.

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

26 Y a Set también le nació un hijo, y llamó su nombre Enós. Entonces los hombres comenzaron a invocar el nombre de Jehová.
