1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

1 Ahora bien, Jehová había dicho a Abram: Vete de tu tierra, y de tu parentela y de la casa de tu padre, a la tierra que te mostraré;

2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

2 y haré de ti una nación grande, y te bendeciré, y engrandeceré tu nombre y serás una bendición.

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

3 Y bendeciré a los que te bendijeren, y a los que te maldijeren maldeciré; y serán benditas en ti todas las familias de la tierra.

4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

4 Y se fue Abram, como Jehová le dijo; y fue con él Lot. Y era Abram de edad de setenta y cinco años cuando salió de Harán.

5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

5 Y tomó Abram a Sarai, su esposa, y a Lot, hijo de su hermano, y todos sus bienes que habían ganado y las almas que habían adquirido en Harán, y salieron para ir a la tierra de Canaán; y a la tierra de Canaán llegaron.

6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

6 Y pasó Abram por aquella tierra hasta el lugar de Siquem, hasta el valle de More; y el cananeo estaba entonces en la tierra.

7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

7 Y se apareció Jehová a Abram y le dijo: A tu descendencia daré esta tierra. Y edificó allí un altar a Jehová, quien se le había aparecido.

8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth-el, and pitched his tent, having Beth-el on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

8 Y pasó de allí a un monte al oriente de Bet-el y asentó su tienda, teniendo a Bet-el al occidente y Hai al oriente; y edificó allí un altar a Jehová e invocó el nombre de Jehová.

9 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.

9 Y se fue Abram de allí, caminando y yendo hacia el sur.

10 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.

10 Y hubo hambre en la tierra, y descendió Abram a Egipto para morar allá, porque era grande el hambre en la tierra.

11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:

11 Y aconteció que cuando estaba para entrar en Egipto, dijo a Sarai, su esposa: He aquí, sé que eres mujer de hermoso aspecto;

12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.

12 y acontecerá que cuando te vean los egipcios, dirán: Su esposa es; y me matarán a mí, y a ti te dejarán con vida.

13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.

13 Ahora, pues, di que eres mi hermana, para que me vaya bien por causa tuya, y viva mi alma gracias a ti.

14 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.

14 Y aconteció que cuando entró Abram en Egipto, los egipcios vieron que la mujer era hermosa en gran manera.

15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

15 La vieron también los príncipes de Faraón y la alabaron delante de él; y fue llevada la mujer a casa de Faraón.

16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.

16 Y trató bien a Abram por causa de ella; y este tuvo ovejas, y vacas, y asnos, y siervos, y criadas, y asnas y camellos.

17 And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.

17 Mas Jehová hirió a Faraón y a su casa con grandes plagas, por causa de Sarai, esposa de Abram.

18 And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?

18 Entonces Faraón llamó a Abram y le dijo: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho conmigo? ¿Por qué no me declaraste que era tu esposa?

19 Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.

19 ¿Por qué dijiste: Es mi hermana, poniéndome en ocasión de tomarla para mí por esposa? Ahora, pues, he aquí tu esposa; tómala y vete.

20 And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

20 Entonces Faraón dio orden a su gente acerca de Abram; y le acompañaron a él, y a su esposa, con todo lo que tenía.
