1 Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

1 Y vinieron a mí algunos de los ancianos de Israel y se sentaron delante de mí.

2 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2 Y vino a mí la palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

3 Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han puesto sus ídolos en su corazón y han establecido el tropiezo de su iniquidad delante de su rostro. ¿Acaso he de ser yo en modo alguno consultado por ellos?

4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

4 Háblales, por tanto, y diles: Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel que haya puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y que haya establecido el tropiezo de su iniquidad delante de su rostro y que venga al profeta, yo, Jehová, responderé al que venga conforme a la multitud de sus ídolos,

5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

5 para sujetar a la casa de Israel en su propio corazón, ya que se han apartado de mí todos ellos por sus ídolos.

6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

6 Por tanto, di a la casa de Israel: Así dice Jehová el Señor: Arrepentíos, y volveos de vuestros ídolos y apartad vuestro rostro de todas vuestras abominaciones.

7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:

7 Porque cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel, y de los extranjeros que moran en Israel, que se haya apartado de andar en pos de mí, y que haya puesto sus ídolos en su corazón, y que haya establecido delante de su rostro el tropiezo de su iniquidad y que venga al profeta para preguntarle por mí, yo, Jehová, le responderé por mí mismo.

8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

8 Y pondré mi rostro contra aquel hombre, y lo pondré como señal y como refrán, y yo lo talaré de en medio de mi pueblo; y sabréis que yo soy Jehová.

9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

9 Y cuando el profeta sea engañado y hable palabra, yo, Jehová, engañé al tal profeta; y extenderé mi mano contra él y lo destruiré de en medio de mi pueblo Israel.

10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

10 Y llevarán ambos su castigo; como el castigo del que pregunta, así será el castigo del profeta,

11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.

11 para que la casa de Israel no se desvíe más de en pos de mí, ni se contamine más con todas sus transgresiones, y sea mi pueblo, y yo sea su Dios, dice Jehová el Señor.

12 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,

12 Y vino a mí la palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

13 Hijo de hombre, si una tierra peca contra mí rebelándose pérfidamente, yo extenderé mi mano contra ella, y le quebrantaré el sustento de pan, y enviaré sobre ella hambre y talaré de ella a hombres y bestias;

14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.

14 y aunque estuvieran en medio de ella estos tres varones: Noé, Daniel y Job, ellos, por su rectitud, solo librarían sus propias vidas, dice Jehová el Señor.

15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

15 Y si hago pasar bestias feroces por la tierra, y la dejan asolada de modo que nadie pase por allí a causa de las fieras,

16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

16 aunque estos tres varones estuvieran en medio de ella, vivo yo, dice Jehová el Señor, que ni a sus hijos ni a sus hijas librarían; solo ellos serían librados, y la tierra quedaría desolada.

17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

17 O si yo traigo espada sobre la tierra y digo: Espada, pasa por la tierra; y hago talar de ella a hombres y bestias,

18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

18 aunque estos tres varones estuvieran en medio de ella, vivo yo, dice Jehová el Señor, que no librarían a sus hijos ni a sus hijas; solo ellos serían librados.

19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

19 O si envío pestilencia sobre esa tierra y derramo mi ira sobre ella con sangre, para talar de ella a hombres y bestias,

20 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

20 aunque estuvieran en medio de ella Noé, Daniel y Job, vivo yo, dice Jehová el Señor, que no librarían a hijo ni a hija; ellos, por su justicia, solo librarían su propia vida.

21 For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

21 Por lo cual, así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: ¡Cuánto más cuando yo envíe mis cuatro terribles juicios contra Jerusalén: espada, y hambre, y bestias feroces y pestilencia, para talar de ella a hombres y bestias!

22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

22 Sin embargo, he aquí, quedará en ella un remanente, hijos e hijas que serán llevados fuera; he aquí que ellos vendrán a vosotros, y veréis su camino y sus hechos, y seréis consolados del mal que hice venir sobre Jerusalén, de todas las cosas que traje sobre ella.

23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.

23 Y ellos os consolarán cuando veáis su camino y sus hechos, y comprenderéis que no es sin causa todo lo que habré hecho en ella, dice Jehová el Señor.
