1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.

1 Después fueron Moisés y Aarón ante Faraón y le dijeron: Jehová, el Dios de Israel, dice así: Deja ir a mi pueblo a celebrarme fiesta en el desierto.

2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

2 Y Faraón respondió: ¿Quién es Jehová para que yo oiga su voz y deje ir a Israel? Yo no conozco a Jehová, ni tampoco dejaré ir a Israel.

3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.

3 Y ellos dijeron: El Dios de los hebreos nos ha salido al encuentro; iremos, pues, ahora camino de tres días por el desierto, y ofreceremos sacrificios a Jehová nuestro Dios, para que no venga sobre nosotros con pestilencia o con espada.

4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.

4 Entonces el rey de Egipto les dijo: Moisés y Aarón, ¿por qué hacéis cesar al pueblo de su trabajo? Volved a vuestras tareas.

5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.

5 Dijo también Faraón: He aquí el pueblo de la tierra es ahora mucho, y vosotros les hacéis cesar de sus tareas.

6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,

6 Y mandó Faraón aquel mismo día a los capataces del pueblo que lo tenían a su cargo y a sus cuadrilleros, diciendo:

7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.

7 De aquí en adelante no daréis paja al pueblo para hacer ladrillo, como hasta ahora; que vayan ellos y recojan por sí mismos la paja.

8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

8 Y les impondréis la misma cantidad de ladrillos que hacían antes, y no les disminuiréis nada; porque están ociosos, y por eso levantan la voz diciendo: Vamos y ofrezcamos sacrificios a nuestro Dios.

9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.

9 Agrávese la servidumbre sobre ellos, para que se ocupen en ella y no atiendan a palabras mentirosas.

10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

10 Y salieron los capataces del pueblo y sus cuadrilleros y hablaron al pueblo, diciendo: Así ha dicho Faraón: Yo no os daré paja.

11 Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.

11 Id vosotros y recoged la paja donde la halléis; pero en nada se disminuirá vuestra tarea.

12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.

12 Entonces el pueblo se esparció por toda la tierra de Egipto para recoger rastrojo en lugar de paja.

13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.

13 Y los capataces los apremiaban, diciendo: Acabad vuestra obra, la tarea del día en su día, como cuando se os daba paja.

14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?

14 Y azotaban a los cuadrilleros de los hijos de Israel que los capataces de Faraón habían puesto sobre ellos, diciendo: ¿Por qué no habéis cumplido vuestra tarea de ladrillo ni ayer ni hoy, como antes?

15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?

15 Y los cuadrilleros de los hijos de Israel fueron a Faraón y se quejaron ante él, diciendo: ¿Por qué haces eso con tus siervos?

16 There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.

16 No se da paja a tus siervos, y con todo nos dicen: Haced el ladrillo. Y he aquí, tus siervos son azotados, y tu pueblo es el culpable.

17 But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.

17 Y él respondió: Estáis ociosos, sí, ociosos, y por eso decís: Vamos y ofrezcamos sacrificios a Jehová.

18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.

18 Id, pues, ahora y trabajad. No se os dará paja, y habéis de entregar la misma cantidad de ladrillos.

19 And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.

19 Entonces los cuadrilleros de los hijos de Israel se vieron en aflicción cuando les dijeron: No se disminuirá nada de vuestros ladrillos de la cantidad que debéis hacer cada día.

20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

20 Y encontraron a Moisés y a Aarón, que estaban esperándolos cuando salían de ver a Faraón.

21 And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

21 Y les dijeron: Mire Jehová sobre vosotros y juzgue, pues nos habéis hecho odiosos ante Faraón y sus siervos, poniéndoles la espada en la mano para que nos maten.

22 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

22 Entonces Moisés se volvió a Jehová y dijo: Señor, ¿por qué afliges a este pueblo? ¿Para qué me enviaste?

23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

23 Porque desde que yo fui a Faraón para hablarle en tu nombre, él ha afligido a este pueblo; y tú no has librado a tu pueblo.
