1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:

1 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Ve, sube de aquí, tú y el pueblo que sacaste de la tierra de Egipto, a la tierra de la cual juré a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, diciendo: A tu descendencia la daré.

2 And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

2 Y yo enviaré delante de ti un ángel y echaré fuera al cananeo, y al amorreo, y al heteo, y al ferezeo, y al heveo y al jebuseo.

3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.

3 Sube a la tierra que fluye leche y miel, pero yo no subiré en medio de ti, porque eres pueblo de dura cerviz, no sea que te consuma en el camino.

4 And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

4 Y cuando oyó el pueblo esta mala noticia, se lamentaron, y ninguno se puso sus atavíos.

5 For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.

5 Pues Jehová había dicho a Moisés: Di a los hijos de Israel: Vosotros sois pueblo de dura cerviz; en un momento subiré en medio de ti, y te consumiré. Quítate, pues, ahora tus atavíos, para que yo sepa lo que he de hacer contigo.

6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.

6 Entonces los hijos de Israel se despojaron de sus atavíos desde el monte Horeb.

7 And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

7 Y Moisés tomó el tabernáculo y lo levantó fuera del campamento, lejos del campamento, y lo llamó el Tabernáculo de Reunión. Y acontecía que cualquiera que buscaba a Jehová salía al tabernáculo de reunión, que estaba fuera del campamento.

8 And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.

8 Y sucedía que cuando salía Moisés al tabernáculo, todo el pueblo se levantaba y estaba cada cual de pie a la entrada de su tienda, y miraban a Moisés hasta que él entraba en el tabernáculo.

9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.

9 Y cuando Moisés entraba en el tabernáculo, la columna de nube descendía y se ponía a la entrada del tabernáculo, y Jehová hablaba con Moisés.

10 And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

10 Y cuando todo el pueblo veía la columna de nube que estaba a la entrada del tabernáculo, se levantaba todo el pueblo, cada uno a la entrada de su tienda, y adoraba.

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

11 Y hablaba Jehová a Moisés cara a cara, como habla cualquiera con su prójimo. Y volvía al campamento; pero el joven Josué, su ayudante, hijo de Nun, nunca se apartaba de en medio del tabernáculo.

12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

12 Y dijo Moisés a Jehová: He aquí, tú me dices a mí: Saca a este pueblo, pero no me has declarado a quién has de enviar conmigo. Sin embargo, tú dices: Yo te he conocido por tu nombre y has hallado también gracia ante mis ojos.

13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

13 Ahora, pues, si he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, te ruego que me muestres ahora tu camino, para que te conozca y halle gracia ante tus ojos; y mira que esta gente es tu pueblo.

14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

14 Y él dijo: Mi presencia irá contigo y te daré descanso.

15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

15 Y Moisés respondió: Si tu presencia no ha de ir conmigo, no nos saques de aquí.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

16 ¿Y en qué, pues, se conocerá que he hallado gracia ante tus ojos, yo y tu pueblo, sino en que tú andes con nosotros, y que yo y tu pueblo seamos apartados de todos los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra?

17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

17 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: También haré esto que has dicho, por cuanto has hallado gracia ante mis ojos y te he conocido por tu nombre.

18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

18 Él entonces dijo: Te ruego que me muestres tu gloria.

19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

19 Y Jehová le respondió: Yo haré pasar toda mi bondad delante de tu rostro y proclamaré el nombre de Jehová delante de ti; y tendré misericordia del que tendré misericordia, y seré clemente para con el que seré clemente.

20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

20 Y además dijo: No podrás ver mi rostro, porque ningún hombre me verá y vivirá.

21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

21 Y dijo aún Jehová: He aquí, hay un lugar junto a mí, y tú estarás sobre la peña;

22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

22 y sucederá que, cuando pase mi gloria, yo te pondré en una hendidura de la peña y te cubriré con mi mano hasta que yo haya pasado.

23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

23 Después apartaré mi mano y verás mis espaldas, pero no se verá mi rostro.
