1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

1 Después de estas cosas, el rey Asuero ascendió de posición a Amán hijo de Hamedata, el agagueo, y le honró y puso su sitial sobre todos los príncipes que estaban con él.

2 And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

2 Y todos los servidores del rey que estaban a la puerta del rey se arrodillaban e inclinaban ante Amán, porque así lo había mandado el rey; pero Mardoqueo ni se arrodillaba ni se inclinaba.

3 Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?

3 Y los servidores del rey que estaban a la puerta dijeron a Mardoqueo: ¿Por qué traspasas el mandato del rey?

4 Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

4 Y aconteció que, cuando le hablaban cada día de esta manera, y él no los escuchaba, lo denunciaron a Amán, para ver si las palabras de Mardoqueo se mantendrían, porque él ya les había declarado que era judío.

5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

5 Y vio Amán que Mardoqueo ni se arrodillaba ni le rendía homenaje, y se llenó de ira.

6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

6 Pero le pareció poco echar mano solo a Mardoqueo, porque ya le habían declarado cuál era el pueblo de Mardoqueo; y procuró Amán destruir a todos los judíos que había en el reino de Asuero, al pueblo de Mardoqueo.

7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

7 En el mes primero, que es el mes de Nisán, en el año duodécimo del rey Asuero, echaron pur, esto es, la suerte, delante de Amán, por día y por mes; y salió el mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar.

8 And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

8 Y dijo Amán al rey Asuero: Hay un pueblo esparcido y diseminado entre los pueblos en todas las provincias de tu reino, y sus leyes son diferentes de las de todo pueblo y no observan las leyes del rey; y al rey no le beneficia dejarlos vivir.

9 If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

9 Si le parece bien al rey, decrétese que sean destruidos; y yo pagaré diez mil talentos de plata en manos de los que manejan los asuntos reales, para que sean traídos a los tesoros del rey.

10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

10 Entonces el rey se quitó el anillo de su mano y lo dio a Amán hijo de Hamedata, el agagueo, enemigo de los judíos,

11 And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

11 y el rey dijo a Amán: Quédate con la plata y también con el pueblo, para que hagas con él lo que bien te parezca.

12 Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

12 Entonces fueron llamados los escribas del rey en el mes primero, el día trece del mismo mes, y fue escrito conforme a todo lo que mandó Amán, a los sátrapas del rey, y a los gobernadores que estaban sobre cada provincia y a los príncipes de cada pueblo, a cada provincia según su escritura y a cada pueblo según su lengua. En nombre del rey Asuero fue escrito y sellado con el anillo del rey.

13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

13 Y fueron enviadas cartas por medio de mensajeros a todas las provincias del rey para destruir, matar y exterminar a todos los judíos, tanto a los jóvenes como a los ancianos, a los niños pequeños y a las mujeres, en un solo día, en el día trece del mes duodécimo, que es el mes de Adar, y para apoderarse de sus bienes.

14 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.

14 La copia del escrito que se había de dar por decreto en cada provincia fue proclamada a todos los pueblos, a fin de que estuviesen preparados para aquel día.

15 The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

15 Y salieron los mensajeros deprisa por mandato del rey, y el decreto fue dado en la ciudadela de Susa. Y el rey y Amán se sentaron a beber, mientras la ciudad de Susa estaba consternada.
