1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

1 Todo tiene su tiempo, y todo lo que se quiere debajo del cielo tiene su hora:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

2 Tiempo de nacer y tiempo de morir; tiempo de plantar y tiempo de arrancar lo plantado;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

3 tiempo de matar y tiempo de curar; tiempo de destruir y tiempo de edificar;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

4 tiempo de llorar y tiempo de reír; tiempo de lamentar y tiempo de bailar;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

5 tiempo de esparcir piedras y tiempo de juntarlas; tiempo de abrazar y tiempo de abstenerse de abrazar;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

6 tiempo de buscar y tiempo de perder; tiempo de guardar y tiempo de desechar;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

7 tiempo de rasgar y tiempo de coser; tiempo de callar y tiempo de hablar;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

8 tiempo de amar y tiempo de aborrecer; tiempo de guerra y tiempo de paz.

9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

9 ¿Qué provecho saca el que trabaja de aquello en que se afana?

10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

10 Yo he visto el trabajo que Dios ha dado a los hijos de los hombres para que se ocupen en él.

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

11 Todo lo hizo hermoso en su tiempo. También ha puesto lo eterno en el corazón de ellos, sin lo cual el hombre no alcanza a percibir la obra que ha hecho Dios desde el principio hasta el fin.

12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

12 Yo sé que no hay nada mejor para ellos que alegrarse y hacer bien en su vida,

13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

13 y también que es don de Dios que todo hombre coma y beba, y goce del bien de toda su labor.

14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

14 Sé que todo lo que Dios hace será perpetuo; sobre aquello no se añadirá, ni de ello se disminuirá. Y lo hace Dios para que delante de él teman los hombres.

15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

15 Lo que ha sido, ya es; y lo que ha de ser, ya fue; y Dios restaura lo que ha pasado.

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

16 Vi más debajo del sol: en el lugar del juicio, allí está la maldad; y en el lugar de la justicia, allí está la iniquidad.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

17 Dije yo en mi corazón: Al justo y al malvado juzgará Dios, porque hay un tiempo para todo lo que se quiere y para todo lo que se hace.

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

18 Yo dije en mi corazón, con respecto al estado de los hijos de los hombres, que Dios los prueba, para que vean que ellos mismos no son sino bestias.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

19 Porque lo que sucede a los hijos de los hombres y lo que sucede a las bestias es lo mismo: como mueren los unos, así mueren las otras, y un mismo aliento tienen todos; no tiene preeminencia el hombre sobre la bestia, porque todo es vanidad.

20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

20 Todo va a un mismo lugar; todo es hecho del polvo, y todo al polvo volverá.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

21 ¿Quién sabe si el espíritu de los hijos de los hombres sube a lo alto, y si el espíritu del animal desciende a lo hondo de la tierra?

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

22 Así, pues, he visto que no hay nada mejor para el hombre que alegrarse en sus propias obras, porque esta es su parte; porque, ¿quién le hará ver lo que ha de acontecer después de él?
