1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

1 Echa tu pan sobre las aguas, porque después de muchos días lo hallarás.

2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

2 Reparte una porción a siete, y aun a ocho, porque no sabes qué mal ha de venir sobre la tierra.

3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.

3 Si las nubes están llenas de agua, sobre la tierra la derramarán; y si el árbol cae hacia el sur o hacia el norte, en el lugar donde caiga el árbol, allí quedará.

4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

4 El que al viento observa no sembrará; y el que mira a las nubes no segará.

5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

5 Como tú no sabes cuál es el camino del viento, ni cómo crecen los huesos en el vientre de la mujer encinta, así también ignoras la obra de Dios, quien hace todas las cosas.

6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

6 Por la mañana siembra tu semilla, y al atardecer no dejes reposar tu mano, porque tú no sabes qué es lo mejor, si esto o lo otro, o si ambas cosas son igualmente buenas.

7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:

7 Agradable es la luz, y bueno es a los ojos ver el sol.

8 But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

8 Pero si el hombre vive muchos años, que se regocije en todos ellos; pero que recuerde los días de oscuridad, que serán muchos. Todo cuanto viene es vanidad.

9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

9 Alégrate, joven, en tu juventud, y que se complazca tu corazón en los días de tu juventud; y anda en los caminos de tu corazón y a la vista de tus ojos, mas sabe que sobre todas estas cosas Dios te traerá a juicio.

10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

10 Quita, pues, el enojo de tu corazón y aparta el mal de tu carne, porque la adolescencia y la juventud son vanidad.
