1 If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:

1 Si en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da para que la poseas es hallado algún muerto, tendido en el campo, y no se sabe quién lo mató,

2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:

2 entonces tus ancianos y tus jueces saldrán y medirán la distancia hasta las ciudades que están alrededor del muerto.

3 And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;

3 Y acontecerá que los ancianos de aquella ciudad, de la ciudad más cercana al muerto, tomarán de la vacada una becerra que no haya trabajado y que no haya llevado yugo;

4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:

4 y los ancianos de aquella ciudad llevarán la becerra a un valle escabroso, que nunca haya sido arado ni sembrado, y desnucarán la becerra allí en el valle.

5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:

5 Entonces vendrán los sacerdotes hijos de Leví, porque a ellos los escogió Jehová tu Dios para que le sirvan y para bendecir en el nombre de Jehová; y por la palabra de ellos se determinará todo pleito y toda ofensa.

6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:

6 Y todos los ancianos de la ciudad más cercana al muerto lavarán sus manos sobre la becerra que fue desnucada en el valle.

7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.

7 Y declararán y dirán: Nuestras manos no han derramado esta sangre, ni nuestros ojos lo han visto.

8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.

8 Perdona a tu pueblo Israel, al cual redimiste, oh Jehová; y no culpes de sangre inocente a tu pueblo Israel. Y esa sangre les será perdonada.

9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

9 Y tú quitarás la culpa de la sangre inocente de en medio de ti cuando hagas lo que es recto a los ojos de Jehová.

10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,

10 Cuando salgas a la guerra contra tus enemigos, y Jehová tu Dios los entregue en tus manos, y tomes de ellos cautivos,

11 And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;

11 y veas entre los cautivos alguna mujer hermosa, y la desees y la quieras tomar para ti por esposa,

12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;

12 la llevarás a tu casa; y ella se rapará la cabeza, y se cortará las uñas,

13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

13 y se quitará el vestido de su cautiverio, y se quedará en tu casa y llorará a su padre y a su madre durante un mes. Y después podrás llegarte a ella, y tú serás su marido, y ella será tu esposa.

14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

14 Y sucederá que si no te agrada, la dejarás en libertad; y no la venderás por dinero ni la maltratarás, por cuanto la humillaste.

15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

15 Si un hombre tiene dos esposas, una amada y la otra menospreciada, y si tanto la amada como la menospreciada le han dado hijos, y si el hijo primogénito es de la menospreciada,

16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:

16 acontecerá que el día en que haga heredar a sus hijos lo que tenga, no podrá dar el derecho de primogenitura al hijo de la amada con preferencia al hijo de la menospreciada, que es el primogénito;

17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

17 mas al hijo de la menospreciada reconocerá como primogénito, para darle una doble porción de todo lo que tenga, porque él es el principio de su vigor, y el derecho de la primogenitura es suyo.

18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

18 Si alguno tiene un hijo contumaz y rebelde que no obedece la voz de su padre ni la voz de su madre, y que, habiéndolo castigado, no les obedece,

19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

19 entonces lo tomarán su padre y su madre y lo llevarán ante los ancianos de su ciudad, a la puerta del lugar donde viva,

20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

20 y dirán a los ancianos de la ciudad: Este hijo nuestro es contumaz y rebelde; no obedece nuestra voz; es glotón y borracho.

21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

21 Entonces todos los hombres de su ciudad lo apedrearán, y morirá; así quitarás el mal de en medio de ti, y todo Israel oirá y temerá.

22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

22 Si alguien ha cometido pecado digno de muerte, por lo que se le ha dado muerte, y le has colgado de un árbol,

23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

23 no dejarás su cuerpo durante la noche en el árbol; sin falta lo enterrarás el mismo día, porque maldición de Dios es el colgado; y no contaminarás tu tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da por heredad.
